PLEASE READ:    This is a research project of the Waco-McLennan County Library, the McLennan County Cemetery Interest Group and the Projects Committee of the Central Texas Genealogical Society.  This is a working inventory of McLennan County area cemeteries.  It includes cemeteries outside the McLennan County boundaries because it is a study of population areas rather than geographic or political boundaries.  There are cemeteries outside the county line in which the burials are all or mostly McLennan County residents (ex: National Cemetery in Hill County).   This project is in progress and information can be expected to change or to be updated from time to time.  The earliest tombstone found to date is an 1850 burial in Liberty Grove Cemetery (predates the 1850 burial in Cobbs-Walker).  However, there were certainly many burials prior to 1850.  There are additional private land burials that have not yet been added to the list. This is a long list with detailed information.  Scroll to the right to view all of the information.  (C) 2003 - 2008 McLennan County Cemetery Interest Group, City of Waco.  Do not reprint without permission.

In Tours.  No evidence of cemetery exists.  Stones reportedly bulldozed into ditch when new land owner took possession shortly after CTGS's 1985 inventory. Several "Waelder" individuals had land grants in the area ("University Lands")--see Texas GLO.  This is reported to have been a large cemetery at one time that "took up the whole corner" with many graves.
