as i had been gathering corn and have just got through and not feeling
very well from the heet (heat) of the Sun my wife though not very well
is trying to run her house work as usual although feeling poorley all
the while the cotton wagons keeps the dust to flying all the time makes
it unpleasant in a town of any sise (size) eating dirt all the time
whilst So dry as it has been Such a while Since a rain has fell in
Crawford one can Sit in his house in Crawford and See how building
going up in the town of Crawford evry day which Shows that Crawford is
still growing in evry respect - but it does Seem that the cotton crop
of Mclennan County is quite light this year to what it has been here
too fore in former years that has past and gone the Lord onley know
what the out come will be and no one else i am Shure as it gradually
grows more Severe on the account of the like of more rain it Seems to
me that the Seasons grows Shorter and much dryer than it use to be now
after recording of the above i taken a walk down at the Show tent put
up no great ways from where i live to See was going on after arriving
at the Spot i find the Show man training of his little too year old
girl to jump from a distant hight and to be caught in his arms and
after remaining for a by i returned by Mr Dave Hicks where Mr Pickle
and his Sone (Son) was building a barn for my Hicks to See how he was

that Mr Pickle and Sone was progressing nice with there work on Mr
Hicks barn would Soon have the barne completed readey for Service and
then he will go to work on another as there are maney a won to be built
in and a round Crawford and Still the good work goes on as though
nothing at or near half past one oclock P.M. this Evening we eat or
(our) noon meal for to day prepared by my wife alone with out the help
of any one after getting through and my wife had attended too her
dinner table and contents all the Same we then taken advantage of the
day for a nother rest as it was very warm at or near too o-clock to day
and we taken the advantage of the warm weather to day althrough too
warm to be comfortable and taken a short rest with a nap of Sleepe and
after waken up it appeared that i felt much worse that i did before
lying down to sleep my wife has not arose from her bed of repose yet to
State how She come out with her nap but i Suppose about equal to mine
it was So very warme one could not rest to do any good what ever but
however we both managed to get a Short nap i am not feeling So very
well this evening i am weak & feble to what i have been feeling
here too fore caused by the excessive heet i Suppose, although being
very warm to day the Sough wind has been quite Strong this evening as
it has been quite cloudey in the eastern portion of the Elements this
evening now as it is growning late and i have fed the poney and done up
the nights Schores and not wanting our evening meal we will take a
Short rest and go to our bed of repose with the popes (hopes) of
getting a pleasant nights rest to night is the familes desire and we
fourth ask of the Lord when done with us geare on earth to hand us down
too our graves in peace with the and all man kind and in heaven Save us
in the prayer of the writer to night a men. W.E. Costley at home in

at times the Sun comes out and becomes very warm in deed It began to

neering night fall and at intervals it keep Spitting rain drops from
the clouds and the clouds looks heavey and Storm ey as though there a
gale of wind passing a round north ward as that is the direction of the
thunder north east ward as the heaviest of the clouds are traveling in
that direction of the North East as Spoken of by the astronimers in the

little this Summer on the account of the drouth during the year 1913 -
Now to day being Friday September the 12 1913 I deaded my old place on

its color now it has put in the greater part of to day raining and
constant just fast enough for the ground to take it up and it did do So
as the Earth was so dry to begin on as the earth in agreat maney places
had busted open and was in bad Shape at the best but Since the good
rains evry thing is alright and prosperous, the greatest part of the
rain to day was from the north and the north wind blew quite cool and

as it is very dark and cloudey and the mist of rain fell all through
the night and the north wind and the mist Still continues to go on at
its regular rate as it has been for the last few days about fore days
in number and Still continues to drive a head as though nothing had
hapened making a Splended Season in the ground just what is neaded at
present as all the moisture is a bout drawed out of the ground by the
rays of the Sun and the like of water on the ground to inrich the Earth
as it Should be now as it has been a very unfavorable day we have been
