Wed., Apr. 4 (4-3): Mack Sizer, colored, was killed yesterday at Robinsonville by a cyclone.

Wed., Apr. 4 (8-3): Mrs. Mittie A. Hinchman died today, age 54. Wife of Major A. Hinchman. Resided in Waco many years. Cancer. Leaves a number of children, some grown, and a husband. Funeral from the family residence, 5th & Columbus, today, Rev. Frank Page officiating. Burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Thu., Apr. 5 (8-3): W. B. Phillips, deacon in Speegleville Baptist Church , died Wednesday at his residence near Speegleville. Burial today at Speegleville.

Mon., Apr. 9 (8-1): Mrs. J. C. Tubbs, wife of Policeman Tubbs, died yesterday. The funeral was yesterday, Rev. W. S. Huff officiating. Burial at First Street cemetery. Leaves a family.

Thu., Apr. 12 (6-4): Mamie Kendrick, daughter of Meredith Kendrick, died at Hubby Hill west of Lorena, yesterday, age 14 months. Funeral today; burial at White Hall, Rev. J. B. Reaves officiating.

Wed., Apr. 18 (8-4): Fannie Kerr Shepherd, wife of Charles M. Shepherd, died yesterday at the residence of her mother, Mrs. E. Kerr, 9th & Columbus.

Mon., Apr. 23 (8-1): The father of R. A. and W. T. Hefley of Waco died at his home in Belton today.

Sat., Apr. 28 (5-1): General Pinckney Sparks died at Downsville today. Came to McLennan county 34 years ago. Leaves two sons: Pink and Call, and a daugh­ter, Miss Lizzie. He was age 83. Funeral tomorrow; burial at Robinson.

Sat., Apr. 28 (8-2): Mrs. Rosa Theobald died today. She kept a confectionery store on the north side of the public square. Tried to kill herself. A native of Germany , age 24. Burial tomorrow in Hebrew Rest cemetery.

Mon., Apr. 30 (1-5): Mrs. Edwin Jackson died at the residence of C. N. Curtis yesterday. The remains were sent to Franklin, Miss. , for burial.

Tue., May 1 (8-2): George Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Taylor, died today, age 1 year and 2 months. Funeral from the residence, 701 North 5th, tomorrow, Rev. H. M. Whaling officiating. Burial at Oakwood cemetery

Thu., May 3 (5-1): Burrell Radford was found guilty of murder in the first degree in the death of L. Lipshitz.

Fri., May 4 (8-3): Jack Holliday, a middle-aged man, was found dead. He played the piano.

Mon., May 7 (8-2): Guy Sears Carroll, son of B. A. and Ellen Carroll, died today age 16-2-23. Funeral from the residence at 9th Speight, today; burial at Oakwood, Rev. John G. Kendall officiating.

Mon., May 14 (4-1): Lewis Moore died last night at his home 6 miles above Waco . Funeral today; burial at family cemetery. A Texas veteran. Service dated to 1836. Age 87.

Mon., May 14 (8-3): Infant child of Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Baker died yesterday. Funeral at the family residence on North 10th; burial at Oakwood.

Sat., May 19 (5-1): W. T. R. Bell Jr. accidentally took morphine yesterday and died. Son of Prof. W. T. R. Bell. Came to Texas in June last from North Carolina . Age 23. A graduate of Vanderbilt University . The remains were sent to Rutherfordton, N. C., for burial. Prof. Bell works in the public schools.

Sat., May 26 (6-1): John M. Slaughter of Ennis died last night in a room in the reservation. He took morphine. Age about 40.

Mon., May 28 (5-2): Frank F. McGowen died yesterday at his residence in Hous­ton, aged 35. Son of the late Judge Alexander McGowen, and a brother of Mrs. Kate Brashear and Ed McGowen, Born and raised in Houston. Known in Waco. Was manager of the old Waco City Mills at the foot of Franklin. Had a brother Edward also a resident in Waco. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery.

Mon., May 28 (8-3): The death of John Slaughter might be murder.

Wed., May 30 (8-1): The body of a dead infant was found last night in a valise.

Mon., June 4 (4-1): A negro was killed today at Ross.

Mon., June 4 (8-3): A brother of Aylmer Moore was reported killed near Munroe, Louisiana.

Tue., June 5 (8-3): John Walker was reported killed at Ross yesterday by Lee Woods; a negro.

Wed., June 6 (4-3): Richard Burleson Morris, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Morris, died at their residence today. Funeral tomorrow from the residence, Rev. J. G. Kendall officiating. Burial at Oakwood.

Tue., June 19 (6-1): Fred Terrell was killed yesterday at Mart in a shooting. Dick Young was badly injured.

Wed., June 20 (6-1): Richard B. Hayes, a young man, died last night at his res­idence, 4th & Jackson . Wife and children left. He lived in Waco all of his life.

Sat., June 23 (4-1): Police Officer R. L. Anderson died yesterday of gangrene. His brother, Judge Anderson of Atlanta, Georgia, was with him. Funeral at the residence, Rev. B. H. Carroll officiating. The remains were shipped to Atlanta.

Sat., June 23 (8-1): The cornerstone for the Cotton Palace was laid yesterday in the park.

Mon., June 25 (8-2): Leopold Beer, age 74, died yesterday. Funeral today from the residence, 404 North 8th. Burial in Hebrew Rest cemetery. One of Waco's oldest citizens. To Waco 25 or 30 years ago. A large family of children left: Charles of New Orleans; Abe, Miss Erma, Miss Bella and Mrs. Sol Hirshberg of Waco.

Wed., June 27 (5-1): Jonas Irvin, a 16-year-old negro boy, drowned in the Bra­zos Sunday. The body was found yesterday.

Mon., July 2 (6-1): Resolution of Respect; in the death of the father of Abe Beer, who died June 16, by the Knights of Pythias.

Wed., July 4 (3-1): Mrs. L. J. Merritt died at her home at North 8th & Kentucky yesterday, age 53. Funeral today from the late residence. Burial in First Street cemetery, Rev. F. N. Calvin officiating.

Wed., July 4 (3-1): Mrs. __ ona Dirks, wife of J.J. Dirks of Fort Worth, died yesterday at the residence of D. W. Brothers. Funeral today.

Wed., July 4 (3-1): Mrs. Kate Knowles died at the family residence near the McLennan crossing of the Bosque, yesterday. Daughter of Eli Jones. Funeral today at Springfield.

Wed., July 4 (3-1): Louis Miller died at his room on the east side of the square yesterday, age 53. Burial by Fall & Puckett. Was an employee of Louis Thompson.

Wed., July 4 (3-1): Col. John Carter, father of Mrs. S. C. Olive of Waco, died at age 79. Resident of Texas 50 years.

Mon., July 9 (8-3): Velma Mitchell, daughter of Eli W. Mitchell, died yester­day at age 3 years. Funeral today from 22nd & Barnard, Rev. F. N. Calvin of­ficiating. Burial at Oakwood.

Sat., July 14 (8-2): Wesley Winfrey died last night, age 15, son of John Win­frey. Funeral today.

Thu., July 26 (4-4): Infant son of Mr. and Mrs. S. W. Chambers was buried at Oakwood cemetery today.

Mon., July 30 (8-3): Henry Henderson, negro, died in Dynamite Alley yesterday, of an epileptic fit.

Fri., Aug. 3 (6-2): Miss Pearl Darby, daughter of Mrs. C. P. Albea, died yes­terday at Sabinal, Uvaldi county. The remains will arrive in Waco Sunday. The funeral will be at the residence of M. B. Davis, 611 South 4th. Sister of W. W. Darby and Mamie Darby.

Mon., Aug. 6 (4-2): W. H. Hutchins, boarder at Mrs. M. E. Cavender's, 926 Frank­lin, died yesterday age about 50. A resident of Waco for 6 years. Was in poor health. Sold jewelry. Age 44. Funeral today by Fall & Puckett.

Mon., Aug. 6 (4-2): Dr. T. B. Muns of West died today of accidental poisoning. Leaves a family.

Tue., Aug. 7 (5-1): Roger Smith, 23, died today at the residence of his mother, Mrs. Sophie M. Smith, in North Waco. A nephew of ex-Mayor Sturgis. Leaves his mother and one brother. Funeral tomorrow from the residence, Rev. A. R. Shaw officiating. Burial in First Street cemetery.

Wed., Aug. 8 (6-2): Orlando Wheat, an old newspaper man, age 43, died yester­day. Came to Waco 15 years ago. Went to Rockport for 2 years, and returned to Waco. Funeral from Fall & Puckett today.

Wed., Aug. 8 (8-1): Resolution of Respect: for Miss Pearly Darley, class of 187__ , a member of the first class to graduate from our high school, by the Alumni Association, Central High School.

Sat., Aug. 25 (8-1): Bowman A. Little, 33, died last night at the residence of Dr. Thomas Moore on South 3rd. Was formerly in the grocery business in Waco. Funeral today from the Moore residence, Rev. R. C. Burleson officiating. Burial at Oakwood cemetery. Old home is Charleston, South Carolina.

Tue., Aug. 28 (4-3): Infant son of Dr. and Mrs. Carlton H. Rew, died today. Funeral tomorrow from the residence, 1517 Clay; burial at Oakwood.

Tue., Sept. 11 (8-1): Warren Lawson died at San Antonio today, at the insane asylum. He was taken there about a week ago. Funeral tomorrow from the late residence on North 9th.

Wed., Sept. 12 (4-2): Wife of Dr. George McLendon of Calvert died yesterday in Calvert. A relative of J. S., George K., and Sam McLendon of Waco.

Wed., Apr. 3 (8-2): Eugene Kelly, a negro age 16, died yesterday of consump­tion. He was a bell boy at the Pacific Hotel. His father died of the same dis­ease about a year ago.

Thu., Apr. 4 (8-1): Joe Pinto, a grocery merchant, died yesterday from injuries in a runaway. Leaves a wife, 2 children, and a brother, Tony Pinto. He was born in Allesondra de la Rocca, Italy. Funeral from the Catholic church, 9th & Washington, today. Burial at the Catholic cemetery.

Thu., Apr. 4 (8-2): Report from the Board of Health for the month of February: 32 deaths, 18 white, 14 colored; 43 births, 32 white, 11 colored.

Sat., Apr. 6 (8-1): Mrs. Francisza Behling was found to be insane yesterday; will be sent to an asylum.

Sat., Apr. 6 (8-1): Onges Drucke, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. J. Drucke, died yesterday age 9 months. Funeral today from the residence, 612 South 12th. Burial in the Catholic cemetery.

Sun., Apr. 7 (3-4): Mrs. Mattie T. Richey, widow of the late Rev. J. H. Richey, died at her residence on North 5th. Funeral from the residence today; burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Tue., Apr. 9 (5-6): Raymond Dunn, who resided with his grandmother, Mrs. Mary E. Weatherly, 925 North 9th, accidentally shot himself with a 22 caliber pistol Sunday. An orphan. His future is uncertain.

Tue., Apr. 9 (8-2): Manuel Ray, a colored woman found insane yesterday, was ordered to the asylum at San Antonio.

Wed., Apr. 10 (8-1): Ada Goldberg, wife of Julius Goldberg, died yesterday at 719 North 5th. Funeral from the residence today; burial at the Hebrew Rest cemetery.

Wed., Apr. 10 (8-1): Raymond Dunn is still alive.

Thu., Apr. 11 (8-2): Funeral for Thomas F. Halstead of South Bosque, who died Tuesday at the residence of H. R. Brooks, 915 South 12th, in Speegleville yes­terday. Son of Mr. Richard Halstead of South Bosque.

Sat., Apr. 13 (8-2): Thomas J. Jelks was killed in Waco some months ago. J. J. Perry is on trial for the killing.

Sun., Apr. 14 (8-6): Laura Lee, daughter of B. F. Lee, colored, died today aged 4. Funeral from the residence of Bishop Lee of the Africa M. E. church yesterday; burial at East Waco cemetery.

Tue., Apr. 16 (3-4): In Memoriam: Death of C. C. Williams, by the Waco Council, United Commercial Travelers of America.

Tue., Apr. 16 (8-1): J. G. Morrison, of the Pat Cleburne Camp, died yesterday. A Confederate veteran, born in Ireland. Citizen of Waco for 21 years. Aged 58. Consumption. Funeral from the family residence, attended by Pat Cleburne Camp and the Masons, Rev. S. H. King officiating. Burial at Oakwood.

Wed., May 8 (8-2): J. M. McCormick, telephone lineman, fell from a pole 20 feet and was killed yesterday. Came to Waco 3 months ago. age about 35. May be from Pennsylvania. Brother of Thomas J. McCormick. The remains went to Fall & Puck­ett undertakers.

Thu., May 9 (8-2): The remains of J. M. McCormick were shipped to his mother at Greenfield, Ohio.

Sat., May 11 (5-3): H. A. Stone has been charged with the murder of Virgil Moon at Grapesland, north of Waco on the Brazos.

Thu., May 16 (8-3): Obituary: A. Tobiason died yesterday. Funeral from the res­idence of Lewis Stephenson, 1007 North 10th, to Oakwood today. Born in Northern Norway 45 years ago. Was called "Tobe." An old settler in Waco. Had no relatives here. By the Liquor Dealers of Waco.

Sun., May 19 (5-2): Katherine Kingsbury, infant daughter of Capt. H. P. Kingsbury, U. S. Army, and granddaughter of Mrs. R. H. Kingsbury of Waco, died yes­terday, Brooklyn, New York.

Tue., May 21 (3-6): "Crazy Frank," colored, died yesterday in jail, awaiting admission to the insane asylum. His remains were taken by Shepherd & Ains­worth. Burial in potter's field.

Wed., May 22 (3-4): Mrs. J. M. Burton died suddenly at her residence, 1st & Clay, yesterday. Sister of Rev. S. A. King.

Thu., May 23 (3-4): Joe Love, son of U. S. Marshal R. M. Love, died and was to be buried yesterday at Tehuacana. He accidentally shot himself a week ago.

Thu., May 23 (8-1): Major E. H. Graham died yesterday. He commanded a regiment of North Carolina troops in the C.S.A. Came to Texas after the war. Leaves an estate of about $200,000 in land and bank stock. Leaves a sister and two bro­thers: Mrs. E. G. Miller of Shelby, N. C. He died a bachelor. The remains were ordered returned to Laurenburg, N. C.

Fri., May 24 (3-4): The remains of Major E. H. Graham were escorted to the train yesterday. Came to Waco in 1867.

Fri., May 24 (8-1): James Harvey Harris, 2-year son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Har­ris, 404 South 13th, died yesterday. Ship to Walnut Springs for burial.

Sat., May 25 (8-4): In Memoriam: Mrs. Jane M. Burton was born in Middleton, Kentucky, Oct. 12, 1827. Died in Waco May 21, 1895. Daughter of Rev. Dr. Gid­eon Blackburn. Sister of Rev. Dr. S. A. King, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Waco. Married to James Burton Jan. 20, 1847. To Waco in 1873. Her hus­band died March 31, 1883. Left two daughters.

Sun., May 26 (5-2): A shooting at 3rd & Franklin yesterday. G. W. "Wash" Ander­son of Crawford is dead. Tommie Lewis, colored, age about 14, was fatally shot. All were shot by George D. Griffice, who said that Wash ran away with his daughter age 13 and deserted her (Miss Pearl Griffice). G. W. Anderson was aged about 23, a son of the late Isaac P. Anderson of Crawford. George Dallas Griffice is about 40, has a wife and 11 children.

Tue., May 28 (1-3): H. M. Christenbury, 68, "Uncle Hiram," died Sunday. He was a printer, born 1827. To California in the gold rush. Married at. Marshall, Texas, then moved to Jefferson. Funeral yesterday, Rev. J. H. Appell. Burial at Oakwood cemetery, accompanied by members of the Typographical Union.

Wed., May 29 (5-2): George Sisk was found dead yesterday at the residence of E.B. Morris, 400 Taylor street. Age about 35. Came to Waco two years ago as a contractor.

Thu., May 30 (3-6): Johnie Goodrich, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. John Goodrich, died yesterday age 10 months. Funeral today; burial at First Street cemetery.

Sat., June 1 (3-4): Funeral for John O'Cleary who died at home on South 3rd yesterday. Funeral from the Church of the Assumption on Washington today, Rev. Father Badelon; burial at the Catholic cemetery. Was a citizen of Waco for many years. Age 63.

Sun., June 2 (8-6): J. M. Stacey has been found guilty of killing George Gar­rett on Feb. 23, 1895, at Geneva.

Tue., June 4 (8-2): Miss Ada Cobb of Cameron, a student at Baylor University, yesterday tried to suicide with laudanum, but was revived. Despondent over grades.

Wed., June 5 (8-1): Mrs. Mary Williams died yesterday at the home of T. C. Lovelace on Speight, aged 24, of consumption. Leaves husband and one child. Funeral from the residence today, Rev. H. M. Whaling; burial at First Street cemetery.

Thu., June 6 (8-5): Cuba Randall of the reservation was found unconscious yes­terday near George Walker's saloon, and died soon after. Was addicted to cocaine. Burial at First Street cemetery yesterday.

Sat., June 8 (3-5): Rosadelle Dollins, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Dollins, died June 7, age 1 year, 5 months, 12 days. Burial at Oakwood.

Sat., June 8 (5-1): Lonnie Adams, a printer, while intoxicated attempted sui­cide by trying to jump into a well night before last.

Sat., June 8 (8-6): Hon. W. W. Kendall died at his residence on Speight yes­terday, of heart failure. Funeral from the residence today, Rev. B. H. Carroll officiating; burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Sun., June 9 (5-3): Hon. William W. Kendall, a Waco leader the past 20 years, was born in Todd county, Kentucky, Sept. 29, 1840. His father survives. Mother died many years ago. Also, three brothers and a sister of the father survive. One is Rev. J. G. Kendall of Waco. Others are in Kentucky. Studied law at Louisville, Ky. Joined the C.S.A. Was with Morgan's Kentucky cavalry. Was 19 months a prisoner at Chicago. To Texas in 1872 and came to Waco. In 1873, was a partner with Judge F. H. Sleeper and E. A. Jones, until Judge Sleeper died in 1891. In 1874, married Miss Sallie Speight, daughter of General Speight.

Wed., June 12 (3-5): The remains of H. C. Montgomery who died at the family residence in Waco Monday, were buried in First Street cemetery yesterday, the Knights of Pythias in charge, from the residence at 12th & Clay. Age 44. In Waco one year; came from Greenwood, Miss., where he was a planter

Sat., June 15 (3-5): An unknown old man, age about 60, a resident of the county poor farm, died yesterday. Said his name was J. A. Plee. Struck by a locomotive of the Waco and N. W. Ry. near Harrison. The remains are in charge of Shepard & Ainsworth, undertakers.

Sat., June 15 (8-1): Mabel Bayne, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Bayne, died yesterday age 7 months and 3 days. Funeral from the residence today; and burial at First Street cemetery.

Tue., June 18 (8-2): Jose Costio was arrested for killing Fivurcia Vialon near Harrison several weeks ago.

Wed., June 19 (8-2): Jesse Donovan died yesterday. He was wounded Sunday by W. A. McDaniel. The family has resided in Waco 3 years; came from Denton. He was resisting arrest. Funeral from the residence, 206 South 7th, today; burial at First Street cemetery.

Wed., June 19 (8-2): The infant bodies found in Bosqueville cemetery are said to be of legal, natural causes.

Wed., June 19 (8-3): John Bailey, compositor, funeral held at the residence of his mother, 604 North 13th, yesterday, Rev. F. N. Calvin officiating. Burial at Oakwood cemetery. His mother is a widow.

Thu., June 20 (8-4): Esther Woodward Marshall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed A. Marshall, died at midnight June 19, age 2 years and 6 days. Funeral from the residence of Mrs. Hellen Conger, 808 North 5th, today. Burial at Oakwood.

Sun., Aug. 25 (8-1): Miss Charlie Field died last Thursday in St. Louis. She was an accountant in the employ of the Citizens Railway, but resigned April 1894 and returned to St. Louis. She suicided Wednesday night at the home of her mother, Mrs. A. B. Keyser; age 23. To be buried at Charleston, Mo. Poison.

Sun., Aug. 25 (8-3): Lee, adopted son of Mr. and Mrs. Faucher, 618 South 11th, was Friday kicked by a mule, and is in critical condition.

Thu., Aug. 29 (8-4): Major John F. Herbert died today. To Texas in 1869. Served in the Union Army. Funeral tomorrow at 5th-Street Methodist church.

Fri., Aug. 30 (8-1): Major John F. Herbert was yesterday buried at Oakwood cem­etery. Funeral at the late residence, Revs. John Bateman and Geo. W. Pruett of­ficiated. Chief Prescott and his firemen were the pall bearers, etc. His son, Sam P. Herbert, survives; also the widow.

Sat., Nov. 14 (1-6): W. H. Mimms, 48, former merchant in South Carolina and Georgia, came to Waco about five years ago. He killed himself last Wednesday at 419 Washington. Was depressed by business losses. Wife is a music teacher; daughter Lula is 16; son Edward is 19. Contracted the morphine habit. Burial Nov. 11 in Oakwood, Rev. J. G. Kendall officiating. An ex-Confederate soldier.

Sat., Jan. 23 (8-4): John T. Flint was born in Schohari County, New York, Apr. 2, 1827. To Texas in 1852, to Austin; to Belton 1853, practiced law; was in the Confederate army. To Waco in 1866, with the banking house of Flint & Cham­berlin and with the law firm of Flint, Chamberlin and Graham. Married twice. Survived by wife and a daughter. His bank helped finance the suspension bridge.

Sat., Jan. 23 (8-4): John M. Holt died in Cincinnati on the 20th, where he went for medical treatment. Resident of Waco for 22 years. His son Sam Holt survives. The remains will arrive in Waco for burial at Oakwood..

Sat., Feb. 20 (8-3): Tom Tindell was shot and killed on the 12th at the farm of Duncan McLennan near Speegleville. Shot by Joe Alford, who was axe-cut by Tindell. Both young and unmarried.

Sat., Feb. 27 (4-4): Mrs. Sarah Sadler died at the home of Dr. J. T. Parker in China Spring. Born March 14, 1802 and died Feb. 18, 1897, age 94-11-4. Husband died 1843, leaving 5 children. A son died in 1840. She now leaves 2 widowed daughters. From South Carolina to Mississippi in 1872, and to Texas in 1895.

Sat., Feb. 27 (8-5): Mrs. Sarah Saddler, mother-in-law of Dr. Parker, died on the 14th at age 95.

Sat., Mar. 20 (8-4): Rev. M. Isbell of Comanche Springs died on Wednesday last. A Baptist minister. Buried at McGregor cemetery.

Sat., Mar. 20 (8-4): Mrs. Joseph Morrison died at Troy on the 15th of consump­tion.

Sat., Mar. 27 (4-2): Walter Cox was shot twice by Stewart McChesney on Wednes­day the 24th, and died the 25th, in a room of Winnie Clark in the reservation. Remains were sent to Huntsville, his former home. Burial yesterday.

Sat., Mar. 27 (5-4): Mr. Bacon, an old citizen of Waco, died yesterday at the home of G. R. Trice in Hewitt. To be buried at Bosqueville.

Sat., Mar. 27 (8-3): Mrs. Lizzie Shawn Sleeper, wife of Jere C. Sleeper, died at the residence of Mrs. Patty M. Sleeper, aged 39. Burial at Oakwood.

Sat., Apr. 3 (5-3): Mr. Sam Ewing, public cotton weigher at Crawford, fell dead from his horse March 30th. Member of Knights of Pythias. Burial on the 31st. Survived by wife and 3 children.

Sat., Apr. 3 (8-2): Will of the late Miss Mary F. Davis was probated today. The sole heir is her sister, Annie Davis.

Sat., Apr. 3 (8-3): Mrs. McLaren, widow of the late Capt. M. E. McLaren, died on March 28th, aged 59. The couple lived in Waco over 30 years. Survived by children: Mrs. Geo. Taylor of Galveston, Mrs. Dave Wallace of Henderson, and Lucien J. Beck of Waco. Burial in Oakwood beside husband

Sat., Apr. 10 (1-3): James H. Smith, residing at 14th & West, on April 4 was shot by his wife Lula with a 32-caliber revolver, in a domestic disturbance. Recovery doubtful. They have one daughter, age 6.

Sat., Apr. 10 (5-1): The remains of a negro, Taylor Brown, were found in a tank near Axtell last week. A mute from Kerens.

Sat., Apr. 10 (8-5): Mr. I. C. Meek, a citizen of Waco for many years, died on the 3rd at his residence in South Waco. Burial Sunday under the Pythias order. Formerly in real estate; later in drugs. Aged 52. Leaves a son and two daughters.

Sat., Apr. 10 (8-5): Rev. W. R. D. Stockton died the 7th at Belton. Well known in Waco. President of Waco Female College several years. Father of Mrs. Nelms, wife of the present pastor of 5th Street Methodist Church; an only child.

Sat., Apr. 17 (4-3): Prof Charles Cevor died at Bluefields, Nicaragua, April 2. Was here last winter. Burial at Bluefields. Leaves wife and several chil­dren. Made daring balloon flights throughout the South.

Sat., Apr. 17 (5-3): Mr. O. F. Cosler of Hewitt died the 12th. Survived by wife. Burial at Oakwood, Rev. J. B. Reeves officiating, Tuesday the 13th. In Hewitt since last October. Wife was Martha J. Cosler.

Sat., May 22 (8-2): Little Sam Knox was killed yesterday as a result of the storm. Age 10.

Sat., May 22 (8-5): The grave of Senator Coke is beside the graves of his children: Jack Coke and two little ones who died many years ago. Jack was age 22 and died in 1880. Born July 27, 1857, died June 5, 1880. Arna E. Coke, born Jan. 29, 1856, died Dec. 31, 1856. Mary V. Coke, born Apr. 9, 1861, died Nov. 11, 1862.

Sat., May 22 (4-4): Violent storm May 16. Sam Knox lived at 1710 South 12th. Had gone under the house to rescue puppies, and was crushed when the house was swept from the foundation.

Sat., May 29 (8-5): Julius Lewis Watson, 38, president of the Houston Post Publishing Co., died at Asheville, N. C., May 19, of consumption. Survived by wife and one child.

Fri., May 28: Capt. Tyler D. Harn today fell on Clay street with a paralytic stroke, and died at 9:30 tonight. Had lived here nearly 15 years, coming from Robertson county. Age 59. Wife and two daughters survive.

Sat., June 12: Maggie William, colored, died June 1 of a wound the past Sat­urday from Kate Matthews, colored.

Sat., June 19: Miss Rose Haglett, 32, died suddenly June 11 of heart disease at the home of J. T. Groves, 910 Jackson. The remains were sent to Arkansas City, Kansas, her former home.

Sat., June 19: Mrs. E. J. Ballard, 69, died at her residence at 1500 Mary on June 12. Burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Sat., June 26 (8-1): Mrs. B. L. Burnett, lately of Temple, died June 21 at her residence, 4th & Jackson. Funeral Sunday, Rev. Frank Page officiating. Was advanced in years.

Sat., June 26 (8-2): The remains of Mrs. August Fuche of Axtell, who died there June 24, arrived in Waco June 25th. Funeral at the Church of the Assumption. Burial at Catholic cemetery near Oakwood.

Sat., July 3 (9-2): Sylvester C. Allstott drowned last Sunday in the Basque, aged about 24. Postal clerk on the Cotton Belt. Masonic rites.

Sat., July 3 (8-1): The remains of Mrs. Lou Jackson who died June 25 at 14th & Cleveland, were buried in First Street cemetery on the 26th. Age 74.

Sat., July 3 (8-2): Macon Burton, colored, age 16, was killed by a M.K. & T. train two miles south of the city, July 1st. Had parents near La Grange.

Sat., July 17: Mrs. Mary A. Hanna died July 13 at her residence, 315 South 3rd where she lived 25 years. Was 61, a daughter of Martin Harper who settled in eastern McLennan county in 1853. In 1869 she married J. Ross Hanna, a stockman. He died a few years later. Funeral Tuesday.

Sat., July 24 (8-1): Mrs. Mary Lindquist, age 33, wife of Charles Lindquist, died July 17 of consumption. Funeral on the 18th from the residence at 1111 North 10th.

Sat., Dec. 4 (1-5): Capt. Marcus D. Herring, resident of Waco over 40 years, died Nov. 27 at 4:30 a.m. Born Holmes Co., Miss., Oct. 11, 1828. In 1848, admitted to practice law. To Waco 1854. In spring of 1861 enrolled as a private in the C.S.A. Was soon elected Captain. Served three years and nine months. Married to Miss Alice G. Douglass. Three children: Mrs. Laura Herring Bagby, wife of Rev. W. H. Bagby; W. Douglass Herring and Marcus D. Herring. Member of Odd Fellows. Funeral Sunday. Burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Tue., Jan. 4 (1-3): Sul Ross died yesterday from the effects of a wound re­ceived from Indians in 1859. He leaves a wife and children: Mrs. Florine Har­rington of College Station, Laurence S. Ross of Marlin, Harvy Ross of Waco, Miss Bessie and little Nev at Home, and Frank a physician of Houston. Brothers and sisters: Mrs. Kate Padgitt, Robert S. Ross, Mrs. Mary Barnard, Col. F. P. Ross, and William H. Ross, all of Waco; and Mrs. Margaret Harris of Chicago. The remains will leave College Station today for Waco, to the residence of Tom Padgitt. Funeral Wednesday. Born at Benton's Post, Iowa, in 1838, a son of Capt. Shapley P. and Katherine H. Ross. As a baby, moved with his parents to Old Nashville on the Brazos; in 1849 to the Waco locality. Built a home in South Waco. Student at Waco University in 1856; later to Wesleyan University in Florence, Alabama. In 1861, was a private in Company G of his brother Capt. P. F. Ross. Sept. 3, 1861, was elected Major of his regiment, the 6th Texas Cavalry. May, 1862, Colonel. Appointed Brigadier-General; served in the Trans-Mississippi department, and in Georgia. Sheriff of McLennan County in 1875. Governor of Texas, January 1887; two terms. Trustee of Texas A. & M. near Bryan.

Tue., Jan. 4 (3-4): W. M. Chamberlain of Axtell was buried yesterday. Citizen of Texas 60 years except a few in California. Born in Tennessee; to Texas in 1830. Was in the 1st Texas Volunteers in the Mexican War.

Wed., Jan. 5: The remains of ex-Governor Laurence Sullivan Ross arrived in Waco yesterday, and were taken to the residence of Tom Padgitt. Today the remains will be taken to the Baptist Tabernacle, 6th & Webster, to lie in state, with a guard of honor. Funeral at 3 p.m., Rev. W. L. Nelms. Procession to Oakwood cemetery.

Tue., Apr. 19 (5-5): Litigation over the Oakwood Cemetery Association ended yesterday. The court held that the city did not yield any rights to the asso­ciation; is to be the agent of the city.

Tue., Apr. 19 (8-5): Dr. J. P. Henry of Greenwood, Miss., died recently. Was a relative of Mrs. H. J. Ellis.

Wed., Apr. 20 (8-5): The remains of J. R. Back were buried yesterday in East Waco cemetery. Died the evening before in East Waco, age 51.

Fri., Apr. 22 (8-4): Drew England was acquitted of killing on Nov. 17th in Eddy, of Raymond Aleanter. Self defense.

Sun., Apr. 24 (4-7): W. H. Downs was found insane yesterday in court; will be sent to an insane asylum.

Mon., Apr 25 (8-4): Oakwood cemetery has two sextons at present: Mr. White ap­pointed by the mayor, and Mr. Ammerman appointed by the Cemetery Association. White seems to dominate. George McCulloch has left.

Tue., Apr. 26 (1-3): War has been declared by Congress; troops called out.

Sun., May 1 (5-4): Hon. W. M. Melton, an attorney of Tecumseh, O. T., and brother of J. Thomas, J. W. and Dr. J. T. Melton of Waco, died yesterday.

Sun., May 1 (5-2): Prof. A. W. Kinnard of Longview is a candidate for State Supt. of Public Instruction. Formerly taught in Waco.

Sun., May 1 (5-4): Oakwood Cemetery is sequestrated, by court order. Is now in the hands of the Sheriff. Will Parrish, old-time sexton, was put in charge.

Tue., May 3 (1): Dewey has defeated the Spanish at Manila.

Sun., May 8 (8-3): The 10-month-old infant of Phillip Cimo was killed yester­day when run over by a hack driven by Ed Ferguson, negro. He was arrested.

Sun., May 8 (8-5): Yesterday, 200 old settlers of McLennan county met at Pad­gitt Park for talks and a basket lunch.

Thu., May 12 (8-6): Dewitt Barnes of Hewitt died yesterday by accident. An anvil was being fired for Carnival. An iron nut struck his head. Leaves a wife and an aged mother. The remains were taken to White Hall for burial today.
