Thu., June 19 (5-1): The wife of Robert Lane , of near Chilton, died Friday last and was buried Saturday. Leaves a husband and several children.

Sat., June 21 (5-1): Duel between Hugh Cook, barkeeper, and Jim Shannon yester­day. Four shot were fired. Shannon lost several teeth.

Mon., June 23 (1-3): Tommie Parrent today was crushed in the head when run over by a wagon. He is still alive.

July 11 (11-5): Railroad wreck at Manteno, 45 miles from Chicago . J. A. Crowder of Waco was killed. He was an employee of the Eaters-Pierce Oil Co.

July 18 (3-1): Visit of Dr. E. I. Wortham, first white child born in Central Texas, at St. Gabriel in Milam county, Nov. 1833.

July 25 (9-5): Mr. William M. Bell died yesterday at his home, 1212 Washington, of gastroenteritis. Burial today, Well known here.

July 25 (9-5): Mrs. M. C. Lee, wife of Charles R., died yesterday at her resi­dence on Moore street . She was a sister of Rev. V. G. Cunningham. Funeral today. Burial at Oakwood.

July 25 (9-5): Mrs. Carrie Mooningham died yesterday of malaria at the home of Tom Phillips, at age 83. Resided here many years. Funeral today, burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Aug. 1 (9-5): Thomas Cravens today was tried and found insane. He may go to Terrill.

Aug. 1 (10-3): Edro Kolashek, a Bohemian, was found dead night before last in Zach Davis ' corn field near West Station. He attended a wedding Tuesday night. A mystery.

Aug. 8 (1-3): Thomas Cravens today tried suicide by severing his jugular vein.

Aug. 15 (6-3): Mrs. S. M. Lowry, wife of Rev. J. W. Lowry, died at the family residence at Aquilla Aug. 6. Was buried on Aug. 7 at the old Lebanon cemetery near Aquilla.

Aug. 15 (6-7): Bunyan Corbell, step-son of Frank McMahan, of Belleview, was kicked by a horse and had his skull fractured yesterday. Age 10 years. Dr. W. H. Wilkes is attending him.

Fri., Aug. 22 (9-1): A frontier story about Indians and their removal to Indian Territory.

Fri., Aug. 22 (11-1): Trial in the Clinton case, murder of Lillie Murphy, the sister of Hattie Tyree. Sam Owens is also charged. Happened in a house of ill fame.

Sept. 19 (5-3): Mrs. Alice Blankenship, wife of George Blankenship who is serving a life term in the penitentiary for the murder of Bert Andrews, died last night and was buried today. Geo. Blankenship on 6 Feb. 1888 shot and killed Bert Andrews. Was found guilty May 25, 1888.

Sept. 19 (5-3): George Yates died yesterday at his mother's residence on South 9th. Burial today. The mother is also ill.

Sept. 19 (11-2): Tribute to Abe Lyons.

Sept. 19 (11-3): Death of Edward D. Conger, brother of H. E. Conger of China Spring and J. N. Conger of Oneida, Illinois. Born Gennisee Co., N. Y. 55 years ago. Resident of Waco 18 years.

Sept. 26 (12-2): Gardner Smith, son of A. P. Smith, had an arm cut off in an accident today at the woolen mills.

Oct. 24 (2-1): Cave in Proctor Springs area. Indian legend.

Oct. 31 (9-2): Albert McIntyre, age 3, son of James McIntyre, was badly burned today when his clothing caught fire.

Feb. 1 (5-3): The 4-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Franklin was seriously burned at their home, at Earl and Peach, Wednesday, and died today.

Feb. 1 (5-4): Mrs. A. J. Caruthers died yesterday at the family residence on South 5th. Daughter of Judge John T. Eubanks, a pioneer. Married Mar. 7, 1867, to A. J. Caruthers in Hill county. Leaves 5 children; 3 boys and 2 girls.

Sat., Jan. 3 (4-3): Major Robert B. Lambdin died at midnight after the first day of the new year., aged 70. Funeral by Rev. W. G. Connor at the residence of J. C. Pettigrew, 4th & Washington . Next oldest journalist in Texas . Burial at First Street cemetery. He founded the New Era in Waco nearly 40 years ago. Was in the Confederate Army, major of a battalion of cavalry. Uncle of Col. William L. Prather, Mrs. William Edmonds and Mr. Jesse and George Cargill and Mr. William Lambdin, also uncle of Mrs. F. L. Denison and Miss S. C. Lambdin of Belton.

Sun., Jan. 25 (1-4): George Creighton, negro, died yesterday in a shooting with constables at the Smith farm 4 miles below Waco.

Mon., Jan. 26 (4-1): Capt. Ben T. Duval took morphine poison and died yester­day. He was the first newsboy in Waco, 1873, along Bridge street , Austin, and the public square. He later entered merchandising. His wife was an invalid.  His mother was present when he died. Funeral pending arrival of wife from Rockport.

Wed., Jan. 28 (4-4): Funeral for Ben T. DuVal at Fifth Street Methodist Church , Rev. H. A. Bourland officiating; also the Knights of Pythias. Burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Thu., Jan. 29 (8-4): The remains of George Creighton were exhumed today from the grave 4 miles below Waco , near the scene of the killing. An autopsy was performed.

Tue., Feb. 3 (4-4): May Foster and Nellie Moore were arrested in the Reservation for having children there, in violation of city ordinance.

Thu., Feb. 5 (8-4): Bob Simmons, a strange negro, died yesterday at the resi­dence of Robert Valentine. Foul play is suspected.

Thu., Feb. 5 (8-5): Infant of Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Peevey of Robinson died yes­terday at the family residence, aged 5 weeks. Mrs. Peevey is a daughter of C. P. Janes, 7th & Mary.

Sat., Feb. 7 (5-1): J. P. Williams, age about 35, suicided yesterday with poison at the Cain House on Franklin. Came to Waco in December, and worked for I. M. Pearlstone & Son. Had a sick wife and a daughter, Miss Lovie, at Demopolis, Alabama.

Mon., Feb. 9 (8-1): Funeral for Charlie Sneed yesterday.

Tue., Feb. 10 (4-3): Charlotte Stepto, colored, died at his residence in the southern suburbs yesterday. Aged about 60.

Tue., Feb. 10 (8-3): Mrs. Buck, 44, died at the family residence on South 4th yesterday. Funeral today,, with Rev. H. A. Bourland; burial at Oakwood. Mother-in-law of R. C. Bruel, a merchant.

Mon., Feb. 16 (5-1): Henry J. Smith died in a trench collapse. Buried yester­day at First Street cemetery. Was working with his brother, R. G. Smith.

Mon., Feb. 16 (5-2): Albert C. Dutton died yesterday on Austin Avenue . Was a brother of Geo. H. Dutton who suicided four years ago. Sons of Geo. B. Dutton, a pioneer builder of Waco . Took a narcotic for suicide. Aged about 44. A car­penter. Funeral tomorrow.

Wed., Feb. 18 (4-4): Mrs. P. L. Downs of Temple died yesterday in Temple . Had many friends in Waco . The remains were brought to the residence of William Fort in Waco . Funeral tomorrow, Fifth Street Methodist Church ; burial at Oakwood.

Tue., Feb. 24 (8-4): Mrs. Belle Woods, wife of Dr. J. C. Woods, died yesterday at the family residence in Robinson. Funeral at the Baptist church tomorrow.

Wed., Feb. 25 (8-3): Miss Nannie Alma Bird of Concord died there Monday. Burial yesterday.

Wed., Mar. 4 (1-1): C. M. Seley, president of the Waco State Bank, died yesterday. In Waco for 14 years. Leaves a wife and one son, W. W. Seley. Age 75. Funeral today; burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Thu., Mar. 5 (4-3): Last midnight, Chick McLennan died. Son of Capt. Neil McLennan. Survived by parents, sisters, and a brother, W. W. McLennan. The two sisters are Mrs. Caufield and Mrs. Reynolds. Melton and Dunlap are being hunt­ed for his murder. Funeral to the family cemetery on the Bosque.

Wed., Mar. 4 (4-1): Mr. Z. D. "Chick" McLennan was shot last night in the public square, probably by T. M. Melton and R. R. Dunlop of Riesel. Was taken to the McClelland Hotel. The shooting may have been a case of mistaken iden­tity.

Mon., Mar. 9 (5-1): Col. William A. Taylor died today at his residence, 1106 South 4th, age 59. Born March 2, 1832, Cumberland, Md. His wife died and left an infant daughter, who is now Mrs. Carrie Cook of Norfolk, Va. To Texas in 1857 and became a druggist. Helped finance the suspension bridge. In the Civil War, organized a company of recruits for Coryell and McLennan counties, which became part of the Pat Cleburne command. His second marriage was to Mrs. V. A. Downs after the war. His wife and daughter, Miss Minnie, survive. The funeral will be tomorrow from the residence, 1106 South 4th, with burial at Oakwood. Masonic rites. John Fall, the undertaker.

Tue., Mar. 10 (5-3): Funeral for Col. William A. Taylor today at the family residence, 3rd & Jones, Rev. Frank Page and Rev. William Wilson DeHart, with Pat Cleburne Camp escorting. There were more than 100 vehicles in the proces­sion.

Tue., Mar. 10 (5-3): Mrs. Wilhelmine Henrich died at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. Schoepfer, 708 South 9th, today, age 53. Leaves a husband, son, and a married daughter. Funeral Thursday at the German Evangelical church, on South 8th street.

Tue., Mar. 10 (5-3): Charles D. Cruger, an old citizen of Waco , died at his residence, 9th & Speight, today, aged 58. Funeral tomorrow from the residence, burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Tue., Mar. 10 (5-3): Mrs. Vannie Donohoe, wife of John M. Donohoe, and daugh­ter of Mr. and Mrs. R. V. T. Black, died yesterday, age 19. Funeral tomorrow.

Tue., Mar. 10 (4-2): Funeral tomorrow for Mrs. Donohoe from the residence of her father at 522 South 7th. Burial at First Street cemetery. Lon Black, a brother, will arrive. The grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Wilsford of Marlin, are present.

Sat., Mar. 14 (1-5): Mr. A. R. Herz died at his residence on South 5th last night of cancer. Born Aug. 27, 1842, in Germany . To Tennessee as a boy. To Waco about 18 years ago. Tobacco and news business. Leaves a widow and 4 chil­dren: Alfred J., Henry and Sidney Herz. Burial tomorrow at Hebrew Rest.

Mon., Mar. 16 (5-3): Mrs. Dorthat McLennan, wife of the Hon. Neil McLennan, died yesterday at age 52. Leaves husband and 2 sons. Burial today at the McLen­nan cemetery near the crossing of the Basque. The sons are John and Wallace.

Thu., Mar. 19 (5-1): Kitty Marguerite Rogers, age 7 months, 19 days, daughter of Capt. F. E. and Carrie F. Rogers, died today at their residence, 1st & Mary. Burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Fri., Mar. 20 (4-5): Major George B. Erath is very ill. Was age 78 in January. A pioneer.

Sat., Mar. 21 (4-4): A. F. Koehler of Bosque county died yesterday at Dallas of suicide. His adopted daughter is Sarah A. W. Houghton of Waco.

Wed., Apr. 1 (5-2): Adele, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Walker was buried at Oakwood cemetery, Rev. Frank Page officiating.

Thu., Apr. 16 (5-2): Little Tommie Padgitt died at Mineral Wells last night. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Padgitt. The remains were sent to Waco for burial at Oakwood.

Fri., Apr. 17 (3-2): The remains of Tommie Padgitt arrived last night, accom­panied by the family, and were buried today, Dr. R. C. Burleson officiating.

Mon., Mar. 20 (4-2): James Brian, division roadmaster for the M.K. & T. Ry., died last night. Leaves a wife and several children. The remains were sent to Houston for burial.

Tue., Apr. 21 (5-3): Mr. E. H. Hatch of Golinda died at his residence today. An old citizen of McLennan county. Burial at Golinda tomorrow.

Mon., Apr. 27 (5-1): Kitty, child of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Thompson of Axtel, died April 20.

Wed., Apr. 29 (4-1): Tom Green, negro, drowned in the Brazos near Downs.

Sat,, May 2 (5-3): Christ Leonard died yesterday at the home of William Rook. Recently from Springfield, Mo., but originally from Ormock, Dublin, Ireland.

Mon., May 4 (404): Ollie, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Seeback of 625 South 2nd, was buried yesterday, Rev. H. A. Bourland officiating.

Sat., may 9 (5-1): Mr. L. C. Wynn, old citizen of McLennan county, died at his home near McGregor Thursday, and was buried at Comanche Springs yesterday, with Masonic honors.

Mon., May 11 (3-1): Mrs. Rebecca Goodall, wife of Charlie Goodall, died yester­day at the family residence on South 9th. Funeral today, Rev. H. A. Bourland officiating.

Tue., May 12 (4-1): Mrs. Sarah A. Deter died yesterday at her residence on S. 6th. Was the mother of A. B. Deter, a student at Baylor. Funeral today at the chapel of Baylor University , Dr. Burleson officiating. Burial at Oakwood. Age 60 years.

Wed., May 13: Major George B. Erath died today at his residence on West Clay street . Born Vienna, Austria , Jan. 1, 1813; was 78. At age 15, sailed to America . To Texas in 1833. Was in the War of Texas Independence, 1st Texas Volunteers, and at Jacinto. Member of the Texas Congress in the days of the Republic, representing Milam and later McLennan county. Was District Surveyor for the Milam District. In 1861, raised a company of volunteers. Funeral tomorrow, burial at Oakwood cemetery, Rev. Rufus C. Burleson officiating, with Masonic rites.

Thu., May 14 (5-1): Funeral of Geo. B. Erath today at the residence, Rev. R. C. Burleson, D. D. The procession was a long one.

Sat., May 16 (4-5): Mrs. Mary Chestnut, wife of J. B. Chestnut, died today at the residence of S. L. Jones, 10th & Cleveland . Born in N. C., Nov. 16, 1837; was 54. To Missouri at a young age with her parents. Married Dec. 1853. Fu­neral today, burial at Oakwood.

Sun., May 16 (4-1): Hon. B. B. Clarkson died yesterday at his home in Marlin. Burial at Marlin today.

Mon., May 18 (4-4): Ed Brandon of Rosenthal was found dead in his home, with his head crushed. Was the Secretary-Treasurer of the Christian Church at Oak Grove. A bachelor. Burial today.

Mon., May 18 (5-2); Miss Sallie Crenshaw, age 60, died Saturday, and was bur­ied at White Hall. Unmarried; lived with a sister on Mary street.

Mon., May 18 (5-3): Funeral and burial yesterday for Mrs. J. B. Chestnut, with Revs. Huff and Bateman officiating.

Wed., May 20 (4-2): Eda, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Prescott, died at the family residence, 1310 Austin, last night, age 10 months. Funeral from the residence today; burial at Oakwood.

Fri., May 22 (5-2): Mrs. J. U. Clabaugh died yesterday at her home near Ross. Leaves a husband and 1 child. She was the wife of Union Clabaugh.

Fri., May 22 (5-1): Florence Henrietta Dorris, infant daughter of T. H. Dorris, died at the family residence on Bell's Hill yesterday. Her mother died a few months ago. Was buried in Oakwood cemetery near her mother.

Mon., May 25 (4-3): The infant child of W. T. Little died Saturday and was buried yesterday at First Street cemetery.

Tue., May 26 (4-2): Mrs. Anna C. Hubby, wife of Clarence M. Hubby, died at the family residence, 1115 Columbus, May 26. Funeral Wednesday, burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Tue., May 26 (5-1): Mrs. Annie Hubby, a daughter of Capt. N. T. Sneed, was aged 42. Reared in Waco. Funeral from the residence.

Wed., June 3 (4-2): Mrs. Anna Belle Bruestedt, wife of William Breustedt, died Tuesday of congestion. Youngest daughter of Dr. D. R. Wallace, and was reared in Waco. Funeral from the family residence at 1011 Austin Ave. tomorrow. Burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Sun., June 14 (5-3): R. N. (Ed or Red) Carlin, brakeman, was run over and killed by an M.K. & T. train today. Aged about 25. From East St. Louis.

Wed., July 7 (5-1): Willie, age 14, a son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Dean, died yesterday when struck by lightning near the home of D. T. Meadows near Lone Oak church, one mile north of Battle Institute. Was buried at Battle.

Sat., July 11 (1-5): Pat Cleburne Camp paid $40 for the burial of Comrade Smith. Sat., July 11 (1-3): Gen. Thomas Harrison is very ill.

Sun., July 19 (5-1): George Morrison Duncan, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Duncan, died July 16 at the residence of Mrs. Kate F. Martin, 614 S. 5th. Bur­ial at Oakwood cemetery.

Fri., Aug. 7 (4-1): Richard H. Thornton, nephew of Mrs. S. C. Olive, died today when crushed by a cave-in at the gravel beds. Resided at 1616 North 6th. Aged 13 years on Oct. 25 last. Mother deceased. His father, R. H. Thornton, lives at Columbus, Texas. The remains are to be shipped to La Grange for bur­ial beside the mother.

Fri., Aug. 7 (5-2): Miss Clotile Lee, daughter of Prof. J. S. Malone, died at age 31. Funeral tomorrow, Rev. Frank Page officiating. Burial at Oakwood.

Fri., Aug. 14 (5-3): Mrs. Ellen Lovelady of near Hillside, died Aug. 12 at Wooten Wells, and was buried yesterday at Hillside. Sister of Buck Morton of Hillside.

Fri., Aug. 14 (5-3): Mrs. Kellum, wife of W. C. Kellum, died at Rockport today. Sister of Mrs. Sam Herbert. The remains will arrive in Waco Sunday for a Sunday funeral from the residence of Sam Herbert at 16th & Clay. Burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Mon., Aug. 17 (5-2): Funeral yesterday for Mrs. W. C. Kellum, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry White of Rockport, and sister of Harry White, and of Mrs. Frank Winters of Fort Worth.

Tue., Aug. 18 (5-1): Abe Lee, negro tenant on the farm of Will Strange near Mart, died yesterday. He was killed by Rev. Jones McFarland in a quarrel over an insult to a McFarland girl. Shotgun used. A sister is Beulah Smith, colored. A posse is pursuing McFarland.

Wed., Aug. 19 (8-3): Miss Vernon Scott of Waverly, aunt of J. S. Hill, died last night. Funeral at Willis.

Fri., Aug. 21 (5-3): Monte Christo, 4-year son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Christopher, died today. Only child. Funeral today from the family residence at 8th & Wash­ington. Burial at Oakwood cemetery.

Mon., Aug. 24 (5-2): Miss Mattie S. Rose, widow of J. C. Rose, died Saturday at the home of her brother, J. E. Hunter near Bosqueville. Mrs. Rose lived at 726 South 6th. Buried today at Bosqueville.

Mon., Aug. 24 (5-2): Mrs. A. Ulander, mother of J. E. Ulander, died at the family residence, 315 North 14th, yesterday, age 67. Funeral today, burial at Oakwood.

Wed., Aug. 26 (4-4): W. H. Cobbs died yesterday at the residence of his daugh­ter near Bosqueville, age 73.

Fri., Aug. 28 (4-5):  _____ Walling died near Battle yesterday in a wagon accident. Burial near Battle. A resident of Thornton.

Mon., Aug. 31 (4-2): Joe Nebares, former Waco barber, was found dead in Mexia today. Leaves a wife and 5 children.

Fri., Sept. 11 (4-4): Thomas Fitzhugh, age 21, died at his father's home near Crawford yesterday. Brother of E. E. Fitzhugh.

Sat., Sept. 12 (5-4): Funeral of Thomas Champ Fitshugh, son of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Fitzhugh yesterday at the family residence near Valley Mills.

Mon., Sept. 14 (4-5): C. C. Walker of Round Rock fell dead in a caboose on the M.K. & T. Ry. yesterday. The remains were taken to J. C. Stephenson.

Wed., Sept. 23 (5-4): Thomas Heard died at John Sullivan's boarding house last night, aged 45. Burial at First Street cemetery.

Thu., Sept. 24 (5-5): Mrs. Dr. Wiley of West died at her home Tuesday, and was buried at Ross yesterday.

Wed., Oct. 7 (5-3): Lillie McCollum of the reservation died yesterday. She was born in Missouri 22 years ago. Was married in Corsicana; left her husband in Gainesville. Buried today.

Wed., Oct. 7 (5-4): Ben Mullens, colored, was accidentally shot last night at the Iron Front saloon by Levy Hill. He is not expected to live.

Thu., Oct. 8 (5-3): Inquest held on the body of Frank Partridge Esq., County Attorney for Coryell, who died in an East Waco hotel Sept. 29 from railroad injured on the 22nd.

Feb. 20 (3-2): Albert C. Dutton died today in a room on Austin Avenue in the Prather block, of self-administered poison, probably morphic sulphas. He had lived in Waco over 20 years. Brother of George H. Dutton, who suicided over 4 years ago. They were sons of Geo. B. Dutton, a leading Odd Fellow. Sisters were Mrs. Antoine Hoefner and Mrs. Virginia Dutton, widow of G. H. Dutton. The remains are at J. C. Stepehenson & Sons. A bachelor; age about 44; a carpen­ter. To be buried beside his father.

Feb. 20 (9-3): Fannie Spencer, age about 35, died Sunday in a Fort Worth res­taurant, probably of heart trouble. She had been living at Kate Murray's boarding house in Dallas. A Waco man had the remains sent to Waco for burial in the new cemetery. He said that Spencer was not her real name. She is said to have been from California?

Mar. 6 (9-1): Chick McLennan died Wednesday at 12, 24 hours after he was shot by mistake.

Mar. 13 (1-4): The family of Mr. P. J. Duty of Rosenthal, including wife Mol­lie, a friend Mrs. Fountain, and Malina Dixon, colored, were apparently poi­soned last week, but recovered. Yesterday, Mrs. Duty and son E. C. Duty and wife Josie became sick. Dr. Clark treated them and they recovered.

Mar. 20 (3-2): Mr. D. A. Lamb has been missing from his residence at Waco for nearly three months. Is supposed to have gone to Leon Junction.

Mar. 20 (11-2): Mrs. Dorthal McLennan, wife of Neil McLennan, died Sunday at the family residence 7 miles from Waco, aged 52. Leaves two sons, John and Wallace, besides her husband. Her youngest son died a short time ago in Waco. Burial today in McLennan Cemetery near the McLennan crossing of the Bosque.

Mar. 27 (7-4): Mr. Peter McClelland Jr. has won his suit to set aside the cod­icil to his father's will, leaving him sole heir to his father's estate except for the widow's portion.

Apr. 17 (7-5): Jim Mercer is charged with shooting a negro, Wallace Snyder.

May 1 (8-4): List of Confederate and Federal soldiers buried at Waco.

May 15 (4-3): John Black, father of L. B. Black the cashier of Citizens Nat'l. Bank, died suddenly yesterday from congestion. Leaves a wife and 2 children, one a daughter, Mrs. J. D. Caiborne of Bastrop. Was age 77 and was a citizen of Texas 54 years, mostly in Bastrop county. To Waco in 1888. Funeral today, with burial at Oakwood, Rev. W. G. Connor officiating.

May 22 (3-1): Ed Brandon residing 2 miles northwest of Rosenthal, was found dead in his kitchen yesterday. Was attacked with an axe. Buried today. Was secretary and treasurer of the Christian Church at Oak Grove.

May 29 (3-2): S. A. Nalley's trial ended yesterday. He killed Charlie Gaines on the night of June 3, 1889 in Sand Town, in Waco. Was found guilty of second degree murder.

June 5 (5-2): Salinthy Smith, colored, age 14, granddaughter of Aunt Kate Burney, yesterday drowned in Waco Creek.

June 26 (1-3): Mr. Cassett Johnson of Waco was released from jail in Dallas yesterday. Had been charged with kidnapping his wife's half sister, Edna Eng­lish, a child. The grand jury did not indict.

July 17 (3-1): Gen. Thomas Harrison died last night, age 68. Came from Houston to Marlin in 1851 and practiced law. In 1861, raised a company in Waco and fought in Terry's 8th Texas Regiment, commanding Company A. Was promoted to major and took command of the regiment at Terry's death. Later was promoted to brigadier general. His brother was Gen. James E. Harrison. Funeral today at 809 South 6th, Dr. R. C. Burleson officiating. Burial at First Street cemetery. His only son is James H. Harrison, an attorney.

Aug. 14 (6-5): Richard Halifax Thornton, nephew of Mrs. S. C. Olive, was crushed to death yesterday when the bank of a gravel bed caved in. Was age 13 on October 25th last. His mother is dead. Father is R.H. Thornton, living in Columbus, Tenn. The remains will be sent to La Grange for burial beside his mother.

Aug. 21 (8-1): The Goldstein & Migel store building burned today. No deaths known.

Aug. 21 (8-3): Funeral of Mrs. W. C. Kellum yesterday from the residence of her brother, Sam Herbert, 16th & Clay. Daughter of Henry White of Rockport and sister of Harry White. Burial at Oakwood.

Sept. 4 (7-1): W. A. Shelton was shot and killed yesterday near Mount Calm, by Jim Sypert, his son-in-law.

Sept. 18 (2-5): Mr. C. C. Walker of Round Rock fell dead yesterday in a ca­boose on the M.K. & T. Ry. yard. The remains were shipped to Round Rock. Had heart disease, and was shipping stock and corn to Iowa Park.

Oct. 2 (4-6): M. F. (Frank) Partridge died yesterday from a fall from a train last week. The remains were sent to Gatesville today, for burial.

Pct. 2 (1-3): Ed Powell and Jim Leeper were hanged Sept. 29 at Gatesville. Were accused of the murder of William Mathis about Dec. 17, 1889.

Oct. 9 (2-6): John Linton Lunsford, age 72, suicided yesterday at his resi­dence, 519 North 9th, with a pistol. Wife and 6 children. The sons are John R., Charles, Robert, and William. Daughters are Mrs. Maggie Corlew of Waco and Mrs. B. F. Overman of San Antonio. Funeral tomorrow from the residence, and burial at First Street cemetery, Dennis Bros, the undertakers. He had con­sumption.

Oct. 23 (2-3): Harvey Speck was arrested near Mart last Saturday, for the mur­der of Berry Adair 2 years ago in Walker Co., Alabama.

Nov. 13 (3-3): Mr. Duncan E. Swim died yesterday and was buried yesterday at the Odd Fellows cemetery on First Street. He was injured in a fall from his wagon more than a week ago. Leaves a wife and several children.

Nov. 13 (3-3): Levi Stokes, colored, died yesterday when he came in contact with a fallen electric wire of the Waco Gas Co. Age about 28. A former resi­dent of Hempstead. His uncle came and took the remains back to Hempstead.

Nov. 13 (5-3): Mr. C. U. Barton died of injuries from a fall Nov, 9th, aged 64 years and 3 months. He was born in Hall Co., Ga., Aug. 5, 1827. Married Feb. 25, 1847, to Miss Frances DeHay. Dec. 4 (6-2): Yesterday at Geneva, Bennie Tonahill, 2-year-old son of Mrs. Tonahill, keeper of the section house on the M.K. & T., fell from a box car and his leg was crushed above the ankle. It was amputated below the knee by Dr. W. O. Wilkes.

Dec. 11 (5-4): Shooting yesterday on the Flint farm. Joe Gorman and John Simms exchanged shots with shotguns, about 50 yards apart. Both were badly wounded.

Dec. 11 (6-3): John W. Shanklin, who died Saturday in Lott, was a brother of W. H. and Sam Shanklin and of Mrs. Gassaway and Mrs. Majors, daughter of N. P. Proctor of Salado. He was active in the 6th Texas Regt. Ross Brigade. To Bell county in 1856. To Lott two years ago.

Fri., Mar. 25 (4-5): Mr. Hugh S. Steed died at the residence of his parents on Dallas road, age 17. Will be buried tomorrow in Oakwood. Brother of E. H. Steed who died about a month ago.

Tue., Mar. 29 (6-3): Judge E. Dickey died yesterday, and was buried today from the family residence at 7th & Columbus. He was born in Simpson county, Ky., and was age 52. Lived in Waco 13 years. Had a son, R. B. Dickey.

Tue., Mar. 29 (8-3): Death of infant of Judge and Mrs. Eugene Williams, who was a grandson of L. A. Ellis of Austin.

Thu., Apr. 7 (3-4): In Memoriam: Alex Reddick died March 30 at Wooten Wells, age 45. The remains were sent to San Antonio for burial. Born in Brenham, in 1843. Known all over Texas.

Tue., Apr. 12 (5-2): Mrs. Cross died about three weeks ago. Her orphan son was adopted by Mrs. E. Ker, and her daughter by Mrs. Charles M. Shepard.

Tue., Apr. 12 (1-3): Lee Caldwell, a negro boy, died today when crushed under the wheels of a M.K. & T. train.

Tue., Apr. 19 (1-4): O. W. Buck was acquitted of killing Charlie Fowzer Janu­ary 23rd.

Tue., Apr. 19 (6-4): Mrs. Avoralla Smith died last night at the residence of her father, J. B. Chambers, on the North Bosque. She was a sister of Mr. S. W. Chambers. Burial at Oakwood today, Rev. John Bateman officiating.

Fri., Apr. 22 (4-2): Fleming Estell was shot by Tom Weidamyer near Harrison Station. Both colored, of the Harrison farm. He is expected to die. The quarrel was over Weidamyer's wife.

Fri., Apr. 22 (8-4): Eugene Kaufman of Reisel was murdered recently, perhaps by negroes Lee McGowan and Alber Jones.

Wed., Aug. 10 (4-3): A. A. Houston was arrested for the murder of Moses Ogden 26 years ago at Moody.

Thu., Aug. 11 (5-1): Moses Ogden was the father of J. A. and Cyrus W. Ogden, ages 9 and 18. On the afternoon of Feb. 13, 1866, four men rode up and one of them shot Ogden, who lived about a week. Robbery was the motive.

Fri., Dec. 2 (6-2): Walter B. Smith, formerly of Waco, died at San Antonio on Monday. Funeral under the San Antonio Typographical Union. He learned to print on the old Waco Register in 1875 and on the Waco Day in 1883. A nephew of J. S. Taft.

Fri., Dec. 16 ( -5): Dr. A. J. Howard, father-in-law of J. W. Howard of Waco, died at Eagle Springs yesterday, and was buried at Oakwood, 3 miles west of his residence. To Texas in 1872, and practiced medicine for 19 years. Aged over 60. Leaves a large family.

Jan. 22 (5-3): George Kittle was shot and injured by Hattie Tyree in the Reser­vation. He was shot in the groin, in the bladder area. He was a pitcher for the Waco baseball team in 1889 and 1890.

Jan. 22 (5-6): Hattie Tyree was arrested for shooting George Kittle last night, by Sheriff Ford. George died this afternoon, attended by Father Badelon. He has relatives in Illinois.

Feb. 26 (4-6): In Memoriam: Ephraim Harris Steed died Feb. 22, 1892, at the home of his parents 2 miles north of Waco. "Eaf" was born in Wilson Co., Tenn., July 20, 1872. To Texas with his parents in 1885. Has lived in or near Waco. Had a sister, Mrs. Dorah Hatcher. Age 19.

July 22 (1-3): Charles Nugent, engineer at the East Waco compress, fell 16 feet onto his head. The injuries are uncertain.

Mon., Feb. 6 (4-2): Mrs. S. F. Taylor, widow of Rev. E. Taylor, died near Rob­inson yesterday at her home. Six children are left. Funeral from the Robinson Baptist church today.

Mon., Feb. 6 (4-2): R. T. Surratt, brother of Marchall Surratt, Esq., of Waco, died in Laredo Sunday. The remains were sent to Waco. Funeral today.

Wed., Feb. 8 (4 1): Joe Cahill, an aged man, was found yesterday under the tres­tle of the Cotton Belt bridge across Waco Creek. The remains were taken to the son's residence, 612 South 12th. Funeral tomorrow; burial at Catholic cemetery.

Tue., June 27 (6-1): "Jim" Jarrett was shot and killed at the M.K. & T. depot today by Clint Smith. A resident of Taylor. Unmarried; age about 21.

Tue., June 27 (6-5): Flint Blocker was poisoned at the city jail about two weeks ago. A negro, allegedly poisoned by his father, Robert Blocker

Thu., June 29 (6-1): Mrs. S. D. Crittenden, wife of a prominent merchant of Paris, died today at the residence of Dr. J. C. J. King, 3rd & Webster, age 40. Leaves a daughter and 2 sons. The remains were sent to Sulphur Springs for burial.

Sat., July 1 (3-5): Dr. T. J. Womack died today at Hewitt, where he had a store. Funeral at the residence, 525 North 4th. Dr. Thomas Jefferson Womack was born in Mississippi about 60 years ago. To Texas in his early manhood. He also practiced medicine in Hill and Bosque counties. He later went into the drug business. Married Mrs. Lewis in Hill county. Two children, Miss Lulu and T. J. Jr., a lawyer.

Sat., July 1 (3-3): A Mr. Harris, section boss on the Waco & Northwestern, killed a man at Riesel today. Name not known.

Sat., July 1 (6-1): Lillian William Burton Armstrong, 5-year daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Armstrong, died Thursday. Last Sunday, their daughter Bertha died and was buried Monday.

Mon., July 3 (6-3): Charles Lovett, was shot by J. E. Harris at Riesel on Saturday. He was admitted to bail.

Mon., July 3 (6-4): The remains of Dr. Thomas J. Womack were buried at Oakwood Saturday.

Mon., July 3 (6-5): Mrs. M. L. Tucker, wife of Policeman Tucker, died yester­day at their residence, 945 South 3rd. Burial at First Street cemetery today.

Tue., July 4 (6-1): Mrs. Adah Gunnells Dismukes, wife of M. L. Dismukes, died today at 7th & Jefferson. Funeral tomorrow, Cumberland Presbyterian church. Mr. Dismukes is a cousin of Ed Dismukes.

Sat., July 8 (6-1): Funeral for Miss Agnes Milby, who died yesterday, was today at the residence of Neil Johnson, 507 North 11th, with Rev. T. G. Opsahl, Scandinavian Lutheran Church. Burial at First Street cemetery.

Sat., July 8 (6-1): Luther Miles Wilbur, infant son of S. D. and Emma Wilbur, died July 6, age 6 months, 12 days.

Wed., July 12 (6-3): Conductor Jacob Burgler fell from the top of a car this side of Chilton yesterday, broke his neck and died. An inquest was held at Chilton. The remains were sent to Waco, to Fall & Puckett, to be shipped to Canal Dover, Ohio, where his mother resides. Age about 35.

Thu., July 13 (6-3): John L. Lawson, age 25, late of Salt Lake City, died at the residence of E. O. Anderson, 504 North 9th, today; burial at First Street cemetery tomorrow.

Tue., July 18 (6-1): Benjamin Goldstein, a Russian Hebrew, shot himself at the residence of Mrs. Lavender, South 2nd & Mary, and died soon. He had been robbed, and was penniless. Was from Baklafzerra, Russia, via Boston. Had about $700, and was duped by a stranger. Burial at the Hebrew cemetery by Fall & Puckett.

Fri., Aug. 4 (2-4): In Memoriam: Mr. Marion O. Harper was buried Aug. 3 in Greenwood cemetery. He was born in Pickens Co., Ala., Oct. 24, 1833; was almost 60. Married Nov. 13, 1862, Noxubee Co., Miss., to Miss Callie Burton, who sur­vives. Four children were born; 2 survive. Joined the Methodist Church at Iredell in 1885.

Fri., Aug. 4 (6-5): S. C. Parker of Hale City, formerly of Waco, died yester­day, age 20 or 21. His horse fell on him.

Fri., Feb. 24 (5-4): J. D. Huff, who was arrested at Bremond recently and brought to Waco, died yesterday from injuries in a fall. The remains were shipped to Weatherford, accompanied by his brother-in-law, W. L. Kimbrough. He leaves a wife and little daughter.

Fri., Mar. 3 (1-1): Death of Capt. Neill McLennan: Born in Florida, 1848. To McLennan county 45 years ago. His son Z. D. was killed in Waco March 5, 1891. Had 10 children; 4 deceased.

Fri., Mar. 10 (1-1): James H. Quarles on Saturday night was stabbed on South 4th street by Will Gamble. He will recover.

Fri., Apr. 7 (7-3): In Memoriam: Died March 18, 1893, near Tyson, Hill county, little Hattie Eva Barr, only child of James A. and Minnie A. Barr nee White, aged 21 months.       By W. K. White

Fri., May 19 (3-3): A Kerrville dispatch reported today the death of Capt. Alex McCulloch of Waco of heart failure. He left Waco several weeks ago with Capt. Boggess and others to hunt and fish. He was an old Texas. Was McLennan County Surveyor several years ago.

Fri., May 26 (5-2): Rev. James Mackey died suddenly in his pulpit at Lampassas last Sunday. To Texas in 1876, joining the Northwest Texas Conference. He was stationed at Corsicana, and later at Waco.

Fri., May 26 (7-2): Matt Thompson, age 12, son of a widow on South 12th, fell on the railway track and had his left leg crushed. Amputation was necessary. He may recover.

Fri., May 26 (7-2): George Hay, a farmer living 4 miles southeast of Eddy, fell under his reaper and was badly mangled, May 18th.

Fri., June 2 (1-5): Will McCrary tried suicide last night at the house of Mollie Hilliger, with laudanum. Age 35. He has lived here a number of years.

Fri., June 2 (5-1): Charles Lee, vagrant negro from Bryan, took morphine in jail last night and died today. Had a fight with a negress yesterday.

Fri., June 9 (5-4): Thomas Wayne, a laborer on the M.K. &  T Ry., died yester­day. Perhaps suicide. A passenger train passed over his body, severing the head. Burial by R. T. Dennis Bros., undertakers in Waco.

Fri., June 16 (3-3): Ford's opera house in Washington today collapsed. Pension records were kept there. There were 28 dead and injured taken out of the ruins.

Fri., June 23 (11-3): Mrs. Annie B. Crawford yesterday charged her husband, Millard C. Crawford, with kidnapping her 3-year-old daughter Lily. Her maiden name was Annie Booker. They were married at Weatherford in July of 1888.

Fri., June 23 (5-2): Mrs. Florence Whittington died at her late residence on South 3rd last night, of malaria. Wife of Mr. J. S. Whittington. Born Hender­son, Kentucky, 36 years ago, nee Florence Lyle. The remains were shipped to Kentucky today for burial at Madisonville.

Fri., June 23 (5-4): Mr. George Putnam, a citizen of Waco the past 25 years, died today at his residence, 11th & Clay. Burial to be at Oakwood. Funeral is pending arrival of a son from Chicago.

Fri., June 23 (5-4): Fielding Austin, negro, was killed Saturday by William Smith, a negro, in Waco during a fight. He was shot. Smith is in jail.

Fri., June 23 (12-5): Charles C. Cochran, age 15, died at Mount Calm yesterday, crushed between railroad cars and a loading gate.

Fri., June 30 (10-2): The remains of Jim Jarrett are to be buried in Waco today.

Fri., June 30 (10-5): Robert Blocker and Sarah Blocker, father and wife of Flint Blocker, were charged with poisoning Flint in jail about two weeks ago.

Fri., July 21 (5-4): Lula Volts, daughter of F. P. Volts, age 5, died today at her father's residence, 313 South 11th. Funeral today from the residence.

Fri., Aug. 4 (5-2): Funeral for Capt. Milton M. Boggess who died Saturday, was yesterday from his late residence on South 3rd. Burial at Oakwood, Rev. Dr. Caldwell officiating. To Texas with his parents in 1835, to Henderson in Rusk county. There in 1861, he organized the first company mustered into Confeder­ate service, a company of rangers. Served on the frontier under Gen. Henry E. McCulloch; afterward had a company in Hood's Brigade. To Waco in 1871 and married Mrs. J. A. Puckett, mother of L. C. Puckett. Had one child, Miss Mary Boggess.

Fri., Aug. 11 (2-5): S. C. Parker died Aug. 2, 8 miles northwest of Hart's Camp, near Hale City. Said to be a former Waco resident.

Tue., Aug. 15 (5-5): Mr. Fitz Kilpatrick, farmer of near Patrick, died Satur­day when his horse shied near the Bosque bridge. Burial in the cemetery at Patrick Sunday.

Tue., Aug. 15 (8-3): The remains of George W. Barnett arrived Sunday and were taken to Eddy. Burial yesterday at Eddy, where his mother was buried. The wid­ow attended. He was killed at Lott. Wife is a sister to Mrs. Ben C. Garland. Mrs. N. K. Sassaman is his sister.

Sat., Aug 19 (8-4): The residence of T. M. Dilworth last night was destroyed by fire in the Bagby Addition.

Sun., Aug. 27 (8-3): Mrs. Josephine Reynolds died recently in Rochester, N. Y. She was the mother of Ed B. Randle, and was in Waco last winter.

Fri., Jan. 5 (8-4): Josie Tumlin, colored, was found to be insane, and will go to Terrell.

Fri., Jan. 12 (4-4): Hugh Durst, employed at National Compress in the 5th ward, suicided yesterday at the residence of Mrs. S. L. Lewis, 12th & Jackson. The remains went to Fall & Puckett to await word from the parents. Age 24. A widower; his mother and children are at Mexia. The remains are to be sent to Mexia. Miss Dora Ragsdale refused to marry him.

Sat., Jan. 13 (8-4): It is reported that there is no room at Terrell for Josie Tumlin.

Tue., Jan. 16 (5-4): The body of a young man was found today on the railroad track near Geneva, about 21 to 25.

Wed., Jan, 17 (4-3): A 3-year-old child of Mr. Hindle, north of the Bosque, yesterday was kicked by a mule, and is in precarious condition.

Thu., Jan. 18 (4-3): Funeral for Mr. August Rodhmann was yesterday, Rev. J. Dosdal of the German Church officiating.

Thu., Jan. 18 (8-2): Mrs. Mattie Brock, daughter of Col. E. Tom Cox, died at Bruceville Tuesday night. Funeral today.

Sat., Jan. 20 (1-1): L. Lipshitz, proprietor of a grocery at 10th & Ross, was murdered today at his residence and his wife has a fractured skull. They lived in a cottage connected to their store. His skull was crushed. Mr. Lipshitz was age 45. A resident of Waco many years. Wife aged about 30.

Mon., Jan. 22 (4-3): Funeral yesterday for Mr. Lipshitz, with burial in the Hebrew Rest cemetery. The wife is now better. She had a stillborn babe yester­day.

Fri., Jan. 26 (8-3): Mrs. Newland, mother-in-law of J. T. Blackwell of the Wortham hotel, died yesterday. Funeral today at the hotel, Rev. John Bateman officiating. Burial at First Street cemetery.

Sat., Jan. 27 (8-4): William Harrison has been charged with the murder of L. Lipshitz. A barber. The evidence was not disclosed.

Mon., Jan. 29 (8-4): David Fogarty died at his residence, 324 Orchard, Satur­day. Funeral yesterday, Rev. Badelon officiating. Burial at Catholic cemetery.

Wed., Jan. 31 (4-4): J. C. Pendleton, a resident of Waco for many years, died on the 25th in Sulphur Bluff, Hopkins county. Born in Pendleton county, Vir­ginia, now West Virginia, Nov. 8, 1816. He was 87. To Texas in 1838 at Bastrop. Was a soldier in the Mexican War, and in the Confederate Army. To Waco 1876.

Sat., Mar. 17 (8-3): A sketch: Sol Weslow died Wednesday of an accidental wound, and was buried at Houston Thursday. Came to Waco with his parents as a child, and became a lawyer. He was married to Miss Sophia Freed of Houston. She and a child survive.

Mon., Mar. 19 (4-2): Nettie Norris died yesterday at the home of her parents at 15th & Franklin.

Sat., Mar. 24 (4-1): Eugene Carter was killed in 1870. John Green, alias Dick Lee, is now in McLennan county jail for the crime.

Sat., Mar. 24 (8-3): The Cotton Palace board of directors has chosen the site of the old Female College.

Mon., Mar. 26 (1-1): Delphin Guerin yesterday was shot in a gun accident on Bosque road. Son of Mrs. Mary Guerin, 514 Washington. Age 13. Funeral today from the Church of the Assumption, Rev. A. Badelon; burial at the Catholic cemetery.

Mon., Mar. 26 (8-5): Katie C. Janes and Winnie Janes, ages 9 and 4, daughters of J. A. Janes, 14 miles from Waco near Geneva, ate canned grapes. The eldest died yesterday, the younger later. Funeral tomorrow; burial in the Catholic cemetery.
