TX - McLennan County - Deed Book 188 - Page 523 - Affidavit - 28 Sep 1907 :
"I, Sarah Elizabeth Scott, a resident of said State and county, do state on oath that my maiden name was Sarah Elizabeth Wilson; that I married George Ehrens about three years before the war, that is about 1858; that he died about the first year of the war, that is about 1861; that I married John Bradburn, my second husband, at the close of the war; that is about 1865; that he died after we had lived together about seven years; that is about 1872; that I lived a widow about six years,and then married Sam Houri about the year 1878; that he died nine years ago last July, being about the year 1897; that I lived a widow about two years, and then married W.W. Scott, who died August 1906; that I remember well when my husband, Sam Houri, bought the Jacob Walker portion of my present homestead, in 1883 from W. F. Corley, and afterwards, bought a portion of the McPhane place on the Dillard Leage, receiving the deed from Corley about 1890; that he had bought the place from him by bond for title dated Dec 24-1883, several years previous to that date; that we have lived on the Walker league portion of this property since 1883, and have had it in my actual possession and have also had in my actual possession that portion of my homestead above referred to as the McPhane place and a part of the Dillard league, since about the winter of 1897-1897- that there has been no time since these dates when I have not been in actual possession of this property, first with my husband, Sam Houri, until his death and afterwards my husband W.W. Scott, until his death, and afterwards in my own possession; that my only child is a daughter of John Bradburn she being now about forty years of age and is married to G. H. (sometimes called Will) Barnum; that none of my other husbands had any children by me, and that I am the surviving widow and only heir of Sam Houri; and further, that I personally know that the taxes on both tracts of land have been paid ever since I have lived on them for each year as they became due.
