Monday December the 7th AD 1914- Opened up quite a dreary day wind from the east with a mist of rain from that direction Thermometer at or near 8- oclock Registered at 44 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what late this morning but after being prepared for buisiness virginia Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal for the familey and after getting of it Served and placed on the table we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through with the morning meal William Frownfelter and Sister Mary Frownfelter prepared themselves for there school they then left there place of a bode for there School room to take up ther Studies for the day whilst there mother Virginia Frownfelter went to work and put the breakfast table and contents all in good Shape and when through with her Kitchen work She then went to work and put her Sleeping department als in good Shape a gain and from that work she taken up her needle work for the day, whilst my wife is Sitting up in front of the fire doing very well for a invalid and the writer he is engaged in recording of what has been done by the familey this morning. and trying to keep evry thing that is done on the place correct and Strait, So no one will be deceaved of what is done by each and evry one on the place each and evry day as it come in and goes out Now as the day passed a way it become darker and much more gloomier untill become very lonesome weather but at or near Eleven oclock a m Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared our noon meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selbes too the table and portaken of our noon meal and after the familey were through and the dinner table cared far then Willey Frownfelter return to his School as Mary Frownfelter remain at School and the rest of the familey remain at home but after a bit Virginia Frownfelter walk over too her Daughters to See her baby as it was reported quite sick. and after remaing for Some bit She returned home and went to work and made for her Self a cap to ware and one for her mother, by that time it was growning lat and turned in and prepared our evening meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our evening meal and when all through and the table cared far we then taken our usual rest and during the time i finished recording the labor done to day by the familey, and when through and we had taken our usual rest. we then departed to our bed of repose hoping to get a quit nights rest is the desire of the familey to night at the time that i was finishing recording our days labors i (it) began to rain and a raining when i finished recording our days labors WE.Costley and M V Costley a t G C and M.V. Tuesday December the 8th AD 1914- Opened up quite a cloudey cold morning wind Strait from the north blowing cold and disagreeable Thermometer at or near half past 8- oclock Registered 38 degrees tempature The familey arose Some what late this morning and after arising from there bed of repose and getting prepared for work Virginia Frownfelter went to work then prepared the morning meal and when served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down at the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal when through and the table and contents cared far then the children prepared them Selves and went to School whilst Mrs Virginia Frownfelter put her bed rooms in good Shape an gain She too is not feeling very well this morning, as to the writer i am feeling as well as could be expected to not be able to work as too my wife She too is getting a long alrng alright She is able too Sit up in a chair and comb her head this morning after a long Spell of Sickness for the last past month The report come this morning that too young men had a fight Earley this morning one of the men accused the other one of Stealing a dollar from the other and they had a Spat over the thing that concerned the looser of the dollar. quite enough to make a fight a mong the herows of our country and nation to fight for there rights in this day and time. now the writer after getting through i then walked across too William Kelley to See how his baby is getting along alright as it too has been Sick for Some time back it has had a rough time of it all a long the line of Sickness for a baby but rises and come again as though nothing had happened Now at or near half past ten oclock A M of to day Mrs Virginia Frownfelter went to work too prepare the noon meal by putting on her pear to cook then went to work to prepare the other part of her meals vituals and after getting of it Served and placed on the table the children came in from School we Seated our selves too the table then eat our noon meal and when through and the table cared far we then taken a Short rest then the children returned too there School and the olderones went too work a bout the premises at what then were to day Then the writer for his part went to work and choped up Some wood to but in the Stove after getting through i brought it in doors to be handy as it was quite cool and cloudey and the wind Strong from the north and when through i finished writing my letter that i had began to write to Mr E.E. Muham at Crawford Texas and when the children returned from School Miss Mary Frownfelter taken my letter too the office and mailed it for me as the ground was too for the old man to be out on it Then all hands went to work and done up the nights Schores whilst Virginia Frownfelter went to work and prepared ou(r) Evening meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down at the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal when through and the table and contents cared far then Virginia Frownfelter walked across the garden too her Daughter Edna Kelleys to See how her baby was getting along as it had been sick but was better She then returned back home and went to work at her house whole work whilst the children were engaged at learning of there lesson and the writer were engaged at recording what had been done on the premisis today and my wife was Sitting up by the Stove a invalid. as she has bee Sick for Some bit and just getting up out of a Spell of Sickness now as we have taken our usual rest to night we will go too our bed of repose hoping to get a quiet nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer W E Costley and wife at Mr and Mrs M V Frownfelters Joshua Texas

Wednesday December the 9th AD 1914- Opened up quite a cool morning Some what cloudey wind direct from the north Thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning Registers at 30 Degrees tempature with the prospect of colder weather a head, The familey arose some what Earley this morning and after being prepared for work Virginia Frownfelter went too work and Soon had the morning meal on the breakfast table and announced readey to be eat we then Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal after the familey were through with there morning meal and the table and contents cared far then Willey Frownfelter went out in the countrey to pick cotton and Mary Frownfelter went to School but Willey Stooped School to make Some christmas money and Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and put her house in good Shape a gain and when through She taken up her Sewing again and crotcheting a gain untill noon day come a round then Mrs. Frownfelter went to work and prepared our noon Meal as usual and when served and announced readey to be eat we then Seated our Selves too the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal after the familey were through with there noon meal and table and contents cared far the familey all taken a Short rest then went to work a gain all too my wife as She is nothing but a invalid She Sits up by the fire and when tiard lies down a gain to rest her Self and sits up when ever Soots her to do So, She is improving So far fast to be Sick So long now the day is passing fast and scenes as thought it was turning colder evry mute (minute) and i know it is growning much darker it Shurley will turn in to freezing soon all it likes at this writing is for it to rain Should it rain it Shurley will Sleet with out a doube, Now as the time is drowing near for the nights Schores to be done up we will go at it at once and complete the job and when we were through Virginia Frownfelter had our evening meal Prepared and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down at the table then portaken of our evening meal when through and the table and contents cared far we taken our usual we then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey W.E. Thrusday December the 10th AD 1914- Opened up quite a cold morning as it is freezing weather very cloudey wind from the nort(h) Still blowing cold Thremometer at or near 8 -oclock this morning Registered at 30 Degrees tempature. The familey a rose Some what earley this morning and when prepared for buisines Mrs Virginia Frownfelter went to work as usual then prepared our morning meal, as they usually do. and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down at the table then portaken of our morning meal when through and the table and contents cared far then the children prepare them Selves for School and went to School and Mrs M V Frownfelter walked down too her Daughter Edna Kelley to assist in putting up Some Sausage and other work that neaded to be done as Edney Kelleys baby was Sick and She could not get much time to do any thing what ever in the way of work therefore her mother had to assist her in her work to day and got through at or near three oclock in the after noon of to day and the writer and wife Spent the majority of the day all a lone and fare well in the posission that we were placed in we were fareing well when the misses of the house returned home, and for all that it kept on getting colder and ceratainley will Show up ice quite Soon as it is below freezing point now as it is growing late we will do up the night Schores and when our eavening meal was prepared and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down at the table then portaken of our evening meal when through and the table and contents cared far we then taken our usual rest then we departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey W.E. Costley and wife at our Daughters Mr and Mrs G F Frownfelters Joshua Texas Mrs Harral a widow called in to See Mrs M V Frownfelter this evening Friday December the 11th AD 1914- Opened up quite a freezing morning wind changing from the north during the last past night and cleering off in the earley part of the last past night to the west causing a heavey frost and a considerable freeze Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning Registered at 16 Degrees tempature the lowest that has been up too this time this winter 1914- The familey a rose quite earley this morning and after getting prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work then prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down at the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal when through and the table and contents cared far then familey went too there alloted work Miss Mary and William Frownfelter went to School whilst there mother proceeded to the wash Tubb to wash the families garments and the writer too his recording book recording the labors done by the familey in the Earley part of the day and as too my wife She is getting a long So far quite well in her afflictions She can be up out of her bed the most of the time and at or near 12 oclock we eat our noon meal and when through and the table and content cared far Virginia Frownfelter and her Son fix for a trip out too rock creek for Louese Leng and Started at or near half pas 12-oclock for the School house on rock creek and arrived at the place in a couple of hours after leaving of home and when School was dismiss they then they for there place of abode at Joshua and arrived at home at or near five oclock P M of to date and after arriving at home then William Frownfelter taken the horse home too his over at the north Side of Joshua Texas then return then all eat our evening meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down at the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal when through and the table and contents all in good Shape we then taken a Short rest then we then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey W.E. Saturday December the 12th AD 1914- Opened up quite a dark gloomey morning very dark cloudey and a raining and occcasionley Some Sleet fell during the morning with heavey thunder in the South west with a good prospect for Sleet or Snow this morning in good i think The familey arose Some what late this morning and after getting prepared for work M V Frownfelter and her Daughter Louese Leng went to work and prepared the morning meal and after getting prepared and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down at the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal after all were through and the breakfast table and contents cared far then the women went to work at there domestic work Such as ironing of there clothing and Some to sewing on the sewing machine and other working at the prepareing of the meals vituals for the familey and my wife to Siting up in front of the Stove as She is a invalid at this time but gradually gets better as time rolls on and the writer is engaged in recording the labor done on the premises to day and Still it is cloudey and Showering rain down occasionly and turning colder then it were earley this morning being near ten oclock a m of too day Thermometer at or near Seven oclock registered at 30 Degrees tempature the wind down this morning could not tell from which way it blowed but the rain was from the South west and i would Judge that what air was Stiring was from that direction but when it come up it Sprand from the North and be come quite cond (cold) and freezing So the day all a long the line, was a rough all through the day and rained all through the day after and on and up in too the nigh Some bit and by and by cleared off well after Spending the day as it come and went we eat our Evening meal and then the table and contents were cared far we then taken our usual rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey W.E. Sunday December the 13th AD 1914- Opened up quite a bright clear morning cold and freezing. this morning Some ice, wind from the north quite brisk and cold , Thermometer at or near Seven oclock to day Registered at Seven oclock at 18 Degrees tempature and after the familey a rose from there bed of repose hoping to get prepared for buisiness being So cold it was a Slow moove but eventually after getting the house warmed up the woman folks went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down at the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal when through and the table and contents cared far then it was Louese Leng and Brother and Sister went to work and made preperation and went too Sunday School and the old people remained at home as it were too cold for the old people to Stir out and in the absence of the School children there mother Mrs M V Frownfelter prepared there noon meal top of page "George Stringer and wife" in there absence and when they returned from School there mother had there noon meal prepared readey for them So when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down at the table then portaken of our noon meal when through and the table and contents cared far we then all taken a rest as it were the Sabbath day and a day of rest and Still the cold weather goes on but bright and clear as the noon days Sun in the Summertime, and at or near half past Eleven oclock A M Mr and Mrs George Stringer come to Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter for to get lief to put there fruit in her Seller and did put it in the Sellar, as they had no room for it where they lived, Mrs Edna Kelly braught my wife and writer a glass of fine eggnog this morning and that was good it sounded similar too old times, when people were free and indipendant from a tiranical (tyrannical) government not harrassed with such obnoxous laws as they have now to force people to submit to a few individuals desires to controll, or ruin. Now at or near half past one oclock we eat our noon meal as Mrs M V Frownfelter had the noon meal Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down at the table then portaken of our meal when through and the table and contents cared far then prepared for going to church and did go and the older person of the house remained at home as it was too cold to be out doors as it is freezing weather, to day. now we Spent the day quetley at home as it was so tremendious cold and after doing up of our evening Schores and eating of our evening meal and the Suppertable and contents cared far we then taken our usual rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey W.E. Monday December the 14th AD 1914- Opened up quite a freezing morning but bright and clear, wind from the north Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning Registered at 18 Degrees tempature, The familey arose Some what late as it was So cold but when readey for work the woman went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when through and then the table and contents cared far then Louse Leng prepared her Self for School and went to Cleburn to chool as there was a weeks tuition for all the teachers instition be held for one week and all the teachers in the county had to attend the School and Virginia Frownfelter taken a trip down too her daughter Edna Kelleys to take care of her baby untill her Daughter coul go up in too Joshua to get Some goods, and remained at the place untill a bout one oclock P M But Mary Frownfelter prepared the noon meal and when Served placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we then Seated our Selves too the table and eat our noon meal being late in day being half past one oclock PM of to day when through and the table cared for then Mary Virginia Frownfelter walk down too her daughter again to assisted untill near Sun Set then returned home and went to work. for her Self Super intending her affares a bout the premises, untill Supper come round then Eat our evening meal and when all were through and the table cared far we then taken a rest for Some time. then we departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey to night W E Costley and wife M.V. Tuesday December the 15th AD 1914- Opened up quite a cold freezing morning bright and clear heavey frost wind from the South blowing cold and bleakey as a norther Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning registered at 20 Degrees tempature. The familey arose Some what late this morning and after being prepared for work the woman work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selve down too the table then portake of our morning meal and when all were through and the breakfast table and contents cared far by Miss Mary frownfelter then the familey went too different occupation Mis Louese Leng went too School at Cleburn too the teachers School and Mrs Virginia Frownfelter prepared her Self for the wash tub to wash the families wearing clothes whilst my wife was Sitting up a round the Stove to gain Strength as She has been Sick So long but improving fast here of late and Willey and Mary Frownfelter is calcu to go and pick cotton to day when it gets warm enough to work and the writer he is hovered a round a warm Stove recording what the balance of the familey are doing to day and it continues to remain cold, and freezing late up in the day So the labors of the day are having a rough old time out in the weather to take as it comes let it be as it may. and at or near one oclock to day virginia Frownfelter had the noon meal Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our noon meal and when through and the table cared far then all went to work again as Mrs. M. V. Frownfelter went too her washing a gain whilst the writer walked up in to Joshua to draw Some money out of the bank to purchase Some articles that was neaded a bout the place also Some medison for my wife after getting through i then returned home with all the articles that i had baught after arringing at home i then went to work and wrote some letters as i had just mailed a letter to E.D.Costley and C C Costley and J B Nichols and had to write Some more, too my old friends away from home and when throug and the balance of the familey were all through we eat our evening meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared by Miss Mary frownfelter we then taken our usual rest and departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the writer to night W E Costley and wife at G C and M.V.Frownfelter at Joshua Texas

Wednesday December the 16th AD 1914- Open up Some what a cloudey morning but the clouds Soon passed a way and Soon be come clear and bright as the noon days Sun wind in the South blowing bleak and cold Thermometer at or near Seven oclock registered at 20 Degrees tempature The familey arose from there bed of repose Some what earley this morning and when prepared for work then Virginia Frownfelter went to work and with the assistance readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our morning meal and when Served and placed it on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our morning meal and when we were through and the table and content cared far then the familey went to work Mr M V Frownfelter to sewing on the Sewing machine making one of her children a garment and G W Frownfelter her Son went earley to picking cotton for one of there Neighbors not a great ways of and Mary frownfelter worked in door to put on the noon meal and to do Some ironing of Some of the clothes that was washed on yesterday and So Soon as it become warm enough She too went to pick cotton where her brother went to pick and my wife is Sitting by the Side of warm Stove reading the news in a dailey news paper and the writer clost by her occupying a portion of the heet of the Same Stove that She is occupying a recording the labor done by the familey to day, and at a bout twelve oclock to day Mrs M V Frownfetlter layed down her work and prepared our noon meal and when Served and placed on the table we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our noon meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far Mrs Frownfelter walk across too her daughters to do Some Sewing and left my wife and the writer to keep house and during the evening Mr Keller came in to See the old people and in a Short while Mrs Ewing came in to visiet the familey and remained Some lit time with the old people as we were left all a lone, and when they _? in a Short while Mary Frownfelter returned from the cotton patch become to cold frozed her out as the thermometer Stood at 34 degrees tempature at half past three oclock P M of to day it become quite cloudey and cold at 2- P.M. of to day as though it was going to continue cold and bleaky weather as has in the to day brings news of the coldest weather in Illinoise that has been in maney years past and continues cold all the Same Now as the day is coming too a close and no prospects a head we will do up our nights Schores and eat our evening meal prepared by Mrs M V Frownfelter as all the familey has come in from there dailey work and when through and the Supper table and content cared far we then taken our usual rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey WE Costley and wife Mrs M V Costley at Mr G C an Mrs George Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Thursday December the 17th AD 1914- Opened up quite a cloudey dark cloudey damp raining and freezing Some of the time cleeting rain from the South west blowing Some what feble Thermometer at or near nine oclock this morning Registered at 28 Degrees tempature The familey a rose earley this morning and when prepared for word (work) Mrs Frownfelter and her Daughter went to work and prepared the morning meal, and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and all through and the table and contents cared far by Miss Mary Frownfelter and when through then the familey went too there general work Mrs M V Frownfelter to renovating a frock coat that She had made yestarday and had to tare it up and make it over to day and Louese Leng went to Cleburn too the teaches School as the law forces them to go to School one week out of a year. and the writer he was buisey recording the labor done on the premises up too Eleven oclock to day and my wife is Still following her invalid trade sitting by a warm fire and William Frownfelter come in this morning from picking cotton as the rough cold Sleety weather drove him out of the cottonfield to remain at home untill the weather clears up and there is no certainy when it will do that in the condition the weather is in now It has the appearance of Sleet or Snow at all time of the day and at or near twelve oclock to day Mary Frownfelter prepared our noon meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we then eat our noon meal and after getting through and the table and contents cared far by Miss Mary Frownfelter we then went at our trade as usual and still the weather is not better but let it rain Sleet or Snow the old black horse will run up and down the Rail road track as though nothing had ever happened all the same with it Now as the day has passed a way in a manner we will so up the nights Shores and when through we eat our nights meal and when through and the Suppertable and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to receive a good nights rest to nights rest to nights to night is the desire and familey and writer to night W E Costley and wife at G C and Mrs M V Frownfelters Joshua Texas

Friday December the 18th AD 1914- opened up quite a fowl morning misting of rain dark and gloomey wind from the _______ Thermometer at or near Seven oclock registered at 30 Degrees tempature. with a prospect of a continued wet cold Spell The familey a rose Some what earley this morning and after being prepared for work Mrs. M.V Frownfelter went to work with the help of her daughter Mary Frownfelter and prepared the morning meal for the familey and when Served and placed on the table we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our morning meal and when all were through and the breakfast table cared far by Mary Frownfelter then all went to work a gain Louese Leng taken the interurban train for Cleburn to the teachers institute to School to School and Mary Frownfelter taken up ironing of the clothes for the familey to ware and Willey to read of a book, whilst there mother was engaged at Sewing on a garment for Some of the familey and my wife was engaged at reading of the news in the waco morning news in the waco Herald all up write this morning the writer is doing moderately well i am too engaged at recordin what has been done this morning up too Eleven oclock a.m. of to day. and still in the weather there is no change as i can See Still goes on as though nothing happened and at or near 12-oclock noon to day we eat our noon meal prepared by Mrs. M.V.Frownfleter after getting through with our noon meal Mary Frownfelter taken care of the dinner and its contents we all taken a Spell of reading Some in School books others in Story Books and as too my wife and my Self we were reading the waco Times Herald, and Virgin Frownfelter She taken the Interurban car and rode down too Cleburn Texas in Johnson county on buisiness and returned home the Same evening in companey with Louese Leng as She was at Cleburn at School, after they arrived at home they went to work and prepared the evening meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our Evening meal when through Mary Frownfelter went to work and put the table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good night rest to night rest to nights is the desire of the familey W E and M V Costley at Mr and MRs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Saturday December the 19th AD 1914- Opened up a dark gloomey morning cloudey and a misting of rain mix with fleek of rain and Show and doomed to continue on a bad Spell of weather wind flowing cold from the north Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning registered at 34 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what late this morning but after a rising from there bed of slumber then prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then partaken of our morning meal, and when all were through and the breakfast table and contents cared far then all went to different work Mrs M V Frownfelter too her Sewing a gain and Loueses and Mary went down too there Sisters a Short ways off and my wife is buisey reading of the news in the waco Herald and Willey frownfelter is buisey drying Some papers that was left out and got wet whilst raining some picture paper and when dried he occuedpide his time in reading of the funney pieces that was published among the pictures on the paper and the writer was buisey recording the action of the familey that was going on in the fore part of the day up to Eleven oclock A M of to day then went to work to finish writing my letter too Miss Laura Costley my Grandaughter at Crawford texas Now at or near one oclock P M of to day Miss Louese Leng and her Sister Mary Frownfelter had our noon meal Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the dinner table then eat our noon meal and when throug and the dinner table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest then Jinnie Frownfelter and her too Daughters walked down to Edna Kelley a nother one of her Daughter to do Some Sewing for Some of her children whilst my wife and the writer remained at home, and during of the time i write a letter too my Grandaughter Laura Costley at Crawford Texas and when the time rolled a round we then done up the nights Schores whilst the woman folks prepared the evening meal. when Served and placed on the we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal and when all were through and the Supper table and contents cared far we then taken our usual rest then departed too our bed of rest hoping to get a good night rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer to night W E and M V Costley at Mr G C & M V Frownfelter at Joshua Texas top of page "Parson Gentry a christian Preacher Laman McKee"

Sunday December the 20th AD 1914 Opened up quite a dreary wet morning as it is misting of rain from the South West as the wind is from that direction Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning Registered at 33 Degrees tempature. The familey a rose Some what late this morning and after being prepared for work the woman of the place went to work and prepared the morning meal and after getting of it Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when through and the breakfast table and contents cared far then Louese Leng and Mary Frownfelter prepared them Selves for Sunday School and went too School whilst the older remained at home as the weather is too Severe to be out in it and So we contented our Selves by remaining at home and taken the weather as it come willey frownfelter returned home from his viset with young friend that he viseted on the last past night young Gentry lives rather south west from the town of Joshua Texas and North of Cleburn and at or near one oclock after the familey came in from Sunday School we eat our noon meal as Mrs M.V.Frownfelter prepared the noon meal for the familey we Seated our Selves down too the dinner table then portaken of our noon meal and the table and contents cared for we then taken a Short rest and then in a Short while the young Ladys of the town of Joshua began to come in we then had Some good music on the peanno also Some good Singing untill late in the evening from which they began to retire for there place of abode and then the night Schores So was done up and we eat our Evening meal, about that time Willey Frown felter come home and when he returned home he brought with him one of his young friends by the name of Laman Mckee to Stay alnight with him as it was holly days with them out of School. and a part of the familey went to meeting whilst my wife and Willey Frownfelter and young Laman McKee and the writer remain at hime as it were too dark for the old people to be out at night and the too boys did not care to go So when the familey returned from church we then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good Sound rest to night is the desire of the familey and the writer W.E.Costley and wife Mrs M Costley at Mr and Mrs M V Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Monday December the 21st AD 1914- Opened up quite a dreary cloudey cold morning wind from the North cold and bleakey Thermometer at or near Seven oclock Registered at 28 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what late this morning but after being prepared a they went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the breakfast table then protaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the table cared far then the familey went to other work about the premises Willey Frownfelter walked too the post office for the mail and Mrs M V Frownfelter has gone at her usual work a gain too Sewing on the Sewing machine making more garments for the familey and Louesey is at work at the fone talking too her friends in Town then disappear i do not know where She has gone but i Expect She has Steped over too her Sisters a Short distance away and as too my wife she is on foot not feeling as well as she did on yestarday but able to eat her morning meal but is able to be up apluging a round something like untoo a younger woman as too Mrs M.V.Frownfelter She is just whising around Sewing preparing herself and children too meet old Santa Claus and part of Santa Clause come in this morning glad tidings too the familey and well as the old people the gifts come from the Frownfelter familey in California now at or near ten oclock to day William Frownfelter brought me too letters from Waco one from Lum costley and a registered letter from Ed Costley with thirty Dollars in Green back as payments on my old home in McLelland ( McLennan) county Texas near Crawford on the twelth month and the 21 day 1914- and at or near 12 oclock noon to day we eat our noon meal Served by Louese Lend (Leng) and when Served and pla(ced) on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table the portaken of our noon meal having Mr. Jones to just to came in but would not eat a he had just dined at home and when we were through and the table cared far we Still continued to hold our own be Siting by the fire in conversation with Mr Jones and we held him Spelled bound for Some too and a half hours he then departed too his place of a bode first going up in Crawford before going home, we then continued our rest the remainder of the evening untill time to do our evening Schores from which we went to work and completed the job then eat our Evening meal and when through and the tables and contents cared far we then continued our rest with the exception of the woman doing Some croadt work that they have been keeping up all fall and winter and when through we then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good night rest to night is the desire of the familey to night WECostley and wife Mrs Mary Virginia Costley a(at) Mr and Mrs M V Frownfelter Joshua Texas Top of page "The writer put in too the Joshua Farmers National bank on December the 21st A D 1914 Thirty Dollars W.E. Tuesday December the 22th AD 1914- Opened up quite a damp cool cloudey and cold wind from the north and misting rain and a freezing at the Same time very cloudey and disagreeable all a round, wind from the North. Thermometer at or near nine oclock in the fore noon of to day registered at 30 Degrees tempature The familey a rose Some what late this morning but after arising from our bed of repose Mrs M.V.Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of there morning meal all too Louese Leng She was Sick but did not eat her breakfast, but the remainder of the familey portaken of there morning meal and after all were through and the breakfast table and contents cared far we were at a Stand Still as the weather was So Severe nothing could be done but to make fires and Sit by them, onley the womans needle work it could be carried on alwrite by the fire as the land Scapes of the county in dark and gloomey all the Same, and as the Surround town Stands in gloom and dis pare as ther is no one at this hour being near ten oclock a.m. of to day and Still the good works going on all the Same now the pre part of the day was spent the needle work and nesling a roung of there work of needle work that they had finished and was carried on up to 12- oclock noon from which they prepared our noon meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our noon meal and when through and the table and contents cared far then the woman went too there needle work again and worked at the Same Kind of work up to late at in the evening then prepared the evening meal a gain as usual and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our evening meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we then taken a rest and Some of the familey went to work Some puting there needle work a gain at crotching with there needles whilst Louese Leng was prepareing too meet her beaux as he was coming to night, to See her on a Social viset now as all are throug we then Departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to nights rest too night is the desire of the familey and writer to night. Wednesday December the 23dh A.D.1914. Opened up quite a nother drearry mistey wet cold morning wind from the and Still continue to be very fowl weather Thermometer at or near 8 - oclock A M of to day registered at 32 Degrees tempature The familey a part of them arose Some what earley this morning and the rest of the familey arose later on but the first ones that arose from there bed of Slumber went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and place on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and after getting through and the breakfast table and contents cared far then the woman folks went to work and prepared there Christmas presents to Send too there kin folks that live a far away from home. whilst Some of the familey are ironing of there washed goods all prepareing for the christmas to come and the writer penning down what the balance are doing and now explain the condition of my wife as a invalid not able to do any thing but is up able to sit a round the warm Stove and eat and Sleep hearty and is doing forely well and as too the writer he is doing very well able to eat and Sleep but not feeling So well as i did on yestarday morning but Still getting along well enough i Suppose and Still the good work goes on, and at or near 12- oclock the woman, went to work and prepared the noon meal and when Served and placed on the dinner table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the dinner table then portaken of our noon meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared for we then taken a Short rest then went to work and Louese and Willey Leng and Frownfelter went to Cleburn to do Some trading and returned home 50 minutes past five oclock PM. in the after noon of to day and then the woman went to work and prepared our evening meal and when Served and placed on the table we Seated our Selves too the Suppertable then portaken of our Evening meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest and during of the time the woman folks boxing up Some Christmas tricks to Send too there Kindred a way from home that was near and dear to them. and i too Sent to Mis Elane Stirling at Crawford my grandaughter or rather my great grandaughter and when all were through we then departed too our bed of repose hoping too get a good nights rest to night is the desire fo the familey and writer W.E. and Mrs. M.V.Costley at Mr and Mrs M V Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Thursday December the 24th AD 1914- Opened quite a cloudey raining morning wind from the north growing colder. Thermometer at or near 8- oclock registered at 36 Degrees tempature The familey arose quite earley this morning and after being prepared for buisiness Louese Leng went to work and prepared the morning meal whilst her mother prepared our Christmas box to send to annie Sterling at crawford Texas and after the morning meal was Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then Portaken of our morning meal and when all were all through and the table and contents cared far then the Christmas box to Mrs annie Sterling was prepared and G. W. Frownfelter taken the box too the main train and mailed it too Crawford Texas whilst the familey went to work at ironing of there clothes, and doing other house work and other Sewing and so having that they are at for Grandure and taste and the writer was recording of the work done on the premises this morning up to ten oclock this morning and Still raining from the north and in the corse of a hour or too it turned too the North East but continued to rain alday very dark and gloomey at or near one oclock this Evening we eat our noon meal prepared by Miss Louese Leng and when served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table the portaken our noon meal and when through and the table cared far we then rested for a Short bit and went to work a gain. the writer too finishing of a letter that i had Started to write too Mr J D McCollum of Crawford Texas, and the woman folk was buisey prepareing a box of Christmas goods to Send to old lady Frownfelter and familey in California. and after getting of it put up in good Shape Louese Leng carried it too the post office to mail and her Mother walked down too Mrs Edna Kelleys to See how the baby was getting a long now it appears that the wind is Shifting ofter it did not remain in the North East but a Short while untill it Shifted back too the north and began to rain much harder than it has rain to day and keeps it up all a long the line. well now Louese Leng and Miss Lightfoot of Joshua Returned from town with there christmas goods they had baught to go on the Christmas tree but i beleave it is the intention of the Town not to put it up to night as it is so wet and cold and later in evening the wind being higher from the North and ceased to rain but turned colder Miss Lightfoot of near Joshua is agust of Mrs (Miss) Louese Leng to nigh came from town with her this evening and after arriving at home Louese went to work and prepared the evening meal and after getting of it Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal and when all were through and the table and content cared far we then taken a rest as it was Christmas eve night or evening and one year a go to night was about the same as it is to night rough weather and as the Lord will have it we are so far blest with health so far as to all be on foot able to eat and drink feelin quite well now we have too public feemale Scholl teacher with us to night Mis Louese Leng and Miss Lightfoot and after the Evening meal was over with the young School teach presented them selve at the Panah (Piano) and played some nice music and passed the time of up untill a bout nine oclock to night then departed too our bed hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer to night W.E. and Mrs. M. Friday December the 25th AD 1914 Opened up quite a disagreable day as it was raing Slowley at times and then it would turn in to Snowing for a bit and kept changing too and frow all a long in the morning wind from the north blowing quite Strong Thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning at 34 Degrees tempature with a good prospect of a continuation of Severe weather The familey arose quite late this morning but when prepared for work Miss Louese Leng and Miss Lightfoot prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the table cared far by Miss Louese Leng and Miss Lightfoot and then all hands and the cook went to work to prepare the Christmas dinner and prepareing there Christmas tricks to go on the christmas tree to night as Christmas eve night was too unpleasant to put up the Christmas tree. So they had to postpone the matter untill Christmas night on account of fowl weather So all are buisey all through Christmas day and the writer is Kept buisey the day through to keep taley with the work that was done on the premises of Mr G.C. and Mrs M. V. Frownfelters place as the have all of there children with them but too and that is Mrs Tom Sterling and baby, they also have the old folks from home to be with them Mr and Mrs W.E.Costley of Crawford Texas Mr. and Mrs. William Kelley was with Mrs M V Frownfelter for the Christmas dinner in 1914- but Mary Frownfelter a member of the familey is in bed Sick to day. with a Sore throat it may terminate in Dipthery or a putred Sore throat and it Seems that all that can be done does not releave her throat and Still continues very painful to her and the writer is of the opinion that nothing out side of a large blister applied too the throat will do any good what ever. but later on in the day She become pearter and rested a great deal better at or near half past too oclock in the evening well the christmas was eat at or near half past one oclock this Evening having Mr (Mrs)Seals Miss Lightfoot and William Kelly and familey to join the familey too in there Christmas dinner, and after all were through and the Christmas Dinner table and contents cared far, then the older girls dressed and prepared them selves too meet there sweet hearts and after getting prepared the last one come in So the meeting cause them to have a good time the balance of the evening , and William Kelley went to Fort Worth on buisiness i know not what So the day was passed off quite Jovely with the young ladys and ther sweet hearts but with the old people not So well as the writer has not felt well alday and as the day past off i felt no better i have caught cold by Some means and have a Slight head ache now at or near fore oclock P.M. of this evening the familey that is Mrs Frownfelters familey began to Send there christmas tricks too the Christmas tree to be put on the tree and i Expect it taken them untill late to put them on for the Expect to open up not a great ways from 8 PM to night in order that Santa Clause will be able to hand out all the gifts and presents that Santa claus sends them to night. now all have dined heartiley this evening but William Kelley as he has not returned from fort worth yet as he went to Fort Worth, this evening and has not returned yet but when we were through with our Evening meal and the table and contents cared far we taken a rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good quiet nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer W.E. and Mrs. M. Saturday December the 26th AD 1914- Opened up quite cloudey damp morning very cloudey wind from the North east heavey frost on the last past night and cleared off the last past night but clouded up this morning just before day light but quite cold freezing weather Thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning Registered at 24 Degrees tempature with a good prospect of continued falling weather The familey a rose from there bed of repose Some what Earley this morning and when prepared for work Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter and her too Daughters Louese Leng and Mrs Edna Kelley went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Seated and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far then the familey went too other work in doors, as the weather was too Severe to be out in it, therefore had to Stay in doors.and Still the Severe weather goes on and has been keeping it up for the last three weeks or moore at or near 12 at noon to day we eat our noon meal, and when all were through and the noon table and contents cared far then the woman went to there house work again The sun come out at or near 12-oclock to day and made appearance of brighter weather, a it has not done in Several days past as thought there would be a probability of better weather a head and it Seems that more favorable weather is approaching a the latter part of the day the Sun Shined out and cleared of and become bright and clear and the Sun Sit clear for one time in a bout a month now as the day has past a way and has give a way for nother day to take its place and we have done up the nights Schores and have eat our evening meal and the table and contents cared far and we have taken our usual rest we will now depart too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer to night Mr W.E.Costley. Sunday December the 27th AD 1914- Opened up a cool bright morning wind from the South west blowing cold Thermometer at or near 8 oclock this morning Registered at 28 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what late this morning and after being prepared for work then Set in and prepared the morning meal Mrs Frownfelter and her daughter Miss Louese Leng as the Daughter of Mrs M V Frownfer was in the bed Sick and has been all through Christmas but the older one and her daughter as mentioned above prepare the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table and portaken of our morning meal and when through and the table cared far then Louese Leng and Miss Gertrude Lightfoot went to Sunday School whilst the balance of the old folks stayed at home with the Sick girl and Willey Frownfelter went too the combolte (cambelight) Sunday School with his friend to the Cambelight Church So all the children areat(?) Sunday School but Mary Frownfelter She is bed fast Sick at home, and can not go Well the feathur of the day has changed as the earley part of the day was bright and clear withe the Sun Shine bright but at or near. 25 minutes past ten oclock the clouds come over the Sun and then become a very cloudey day and as muchey day as has been this winter Mrs M.V. Costley is not so well this morning she is complaining of her back hearting of her the cause of the trouble is her kidneys is not of fix but is up to day she caugh a write smart at times at or near Eleven oclock to day a young man by name of Hunter came in to See the Frownfelter familey and spend the day with William Frownfelter and they are Seeing a good time a mong them Selves if it is the Sabath day and a day of rest at or near ten minutes of 12- oclock am Miss Gertrude Lightfoot ask Mrs M V Frownfelter to go too her home out fom Joshua Some too miles and a half as her time is us (up) for her Christmas pleasures as She has to returne too her School to morrow morning as well as Louese and others belonging too the public Schools as teachers of Said work and Louese Leng will leave this evening too her boarding department out on rock creek to be readey to take up her School to morrow morning being Monday December the 28 the AD 1914- and will be a gloomey evening for the buisiness but have to go but young folks do not care for fowl weather now of days as they are hardy and in dirable for all weather to come Louese Leng let home for her boarding house at or near one oclock Sunday. Monday December the 28th AD 1914- Opened up quite a dark gloomey morning raining all a long the line wind from the blowing from the damp and cool Thermometer at or near 8- oclock registered at 40 Degrees tempature. The familey arose Some what late this morning and after getting prepared for work Mrs Virginia Frownfelter wen(t) to work and prepared the morning meal and but few to eat it as Mary Frownfelter is Sick and Louese Leng let yestarday for her School out a bout ten miles North of Joshuay Texas, and after geting prepared and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portake of our morning meal and after all were through and the table and content cared fur then Billey (Willey) Frownfelter proceeded too his School and his mother done of the house work and put her bed rooms all in good Shape again, whilst the writer was at his writing table a recording of the labor done on the premises. and the condi(tion) of the familey this morning Mary Frownfelter is in the bed sick and her mother has the head ache although up on her feet and my wife is up able to eat her breakfast this morning at the table but complains of her ears stinging and as too the writer he too so far is on foot but not feeling like a middle age man what ever but able to go and eat my meals vituals and still the dark misty day continues to Show up with plenty of cold water falling from the clouds above now at or near 12- oclock noon today we eat our noon meal prepared by Mrs Virginia Frownfelter and when Served and placed on the dinner table we Seated our Selves too the dinner table then portaken of our noon meal, and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we then went to work again Mrs Frownfelter went down too her daughters to stay withe her this Evening a She was Sick and past of the time in the bed and had her baby to attend too and Willey Frownfelter returned to School, and come home at or near fore oclock P.M. and went to Cleburn after Some medison for the writer and returned at half past five the Same evening and Mary Frownfelter that was Sick has been doing quite well and as too my wife has being doing good She has been employed, reading a 1912 almanac all and as too the writer, he has been Sitting by the writing table a recording the labors done by the familey to day and when the time come the writer went to work and done up the nights Schors and when through we then eat our evening meal prepared by Virginia Frownfelter and after, getting through and the table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest and departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest too night is the desire of the familey also the writer. Tuesday December the 29th AD 1914- Opened up quite a damp wet morning. but creared (cleared) off in the morning bright and clear but in its Stead come a norther brisk and cool, Thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning registered at 38 Degrees tempature with a prospect of more falling weather . The Smork (smoke?) from the engins of the cars all go too the ground which dessignates falling weather The familey arose Some what late this morning and when prepared for work Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the breakfast table then eat our morning meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far then preperation was made for washing of the wearing clothes for the familey by Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter whilst Willey Frownfelter went wet to School a his Sister is in the bed an invalid been Sick but is much better but not able to be up altogether, as to my wife She is able to be at work this morning prepareing the potatoes to make Soop for Mary frownfelter to drik out of Irish potatoes and the writer is not very well to day i have a grumbling headache and a bad cold to day and not feeling well what ever, but able to record the labors of the familey to day i eat a light breakfast this morning to begin on my (wife) eat quite a heartey meal for her breakfast, doing fine sofar to day and Still the weather remains bright and clear to day up too 15 minutes past ten oclock A M of to day and still continues so as at this writing continues to remain favorable for the balance of the day. but at or near three oclock in the Evening of to day it began to cloud in the north as though it might turn too more Severe weather than what it is at the present as the Streeks of clouds begin to farm through the Elements, and in all probability there will a change in the weather. now Virginia Frownfelter finished her days washing at or near three oclock .P.M. of to day, well we eat our noon meal at or near one oclock to day cooked by my Wife and when Served and placed on the table we Seated our Selves too the table and portaken of our noon meal and when through and the table and contents cared far we then taken a rest then went to buisiness again, attending to the buisiness around the premises and when the time come we went to work and put things in good Shape then we eat our Evening meal prepared by. The familey arose Some what Earley this morning and G.W.Frownfelter Started the fire in the bedroom, in the Stove and when the familey was prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the contents and table cared for then G.W.Frownfelter went too School whilst his mother Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter went to the wash tub a gain this morning as She did not quite finish her washing on yestarday and the writing up to day of what has been done on the premises of Mr and Mrs M V Frownfelter up to 12 oclock was done by W.E.Costley and as to Mary Frownfelters condition in her Sickness She is getting along alright So far and as too my wife She caughed a good deel on last past night but have not caughed So much in the fore part of to day but has been quite buisey reading of the times Herald from Waco that her Son Ed Costley Sent her to read whilst She was not able to do any thing Els now my wife put on the peas to cook to day So She is doing well i am of the opinion to have been Sick So long and beside baked bread to day and had our dinner Served at or near 12-oclock to day and all the familey but the writer. eat there dinner i waited untill past one oclock P M before i eat as i did not feel like eating as i had no time to eat for my Stomache did not feel like takan in food So i just waited on untill i had a inclination to eat i then eat a light dinner and as virginia Frownfelter was buisey at the wash tub washing up the wearing clothes the writer went to work and put the dinner tale and contents all in good Shape a gain we that were in doors remain in doors as it was too cool for us to be out in the cold as at or near 12-oclock noon the clouds Shut the Sun in and then it was it began to turn colder and darker and much colder than it were in the fore part of the day and continued to grown cold Still on throught the daybut after three oclock the Sun Showed it Self,occasionley a long through the evening and on during of the day, but kept up turning colder as the day passed of and when night come on it was very cold after Willey Frownfelter came from School he began to dig holes on the South Side of there house to set out Some chiney trees to make Shades in the yard. and when the time come to do up the night Schore he went to work and done what was to do and when through then come on the evening meal to eat prepared by Mrs M V Frownfelter and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal and when all were through and the table and content cared far we then moved in too our bed room for a Short rest and after taking a couple of hours rest we departed too our bed of repose but before going to bed Mrs M V Frownfelter had to foan for Dr Pearson to come too the bed Side of her Daughter Mary Frownfelter in a case of scarlet fever as the burning and eaching sensation although she had no fever to contend with but he did nothing for her onley prescribe something some medison to put her to sleep in order to make her rest now after all this was done , we then departed to our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer to night W E and Mrs M V Costley at Mr and Mrs M V Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Thursday December the 31st AD 1914 - being the last day of the old year 1914- which will pass a way and give place for a new year to step in and take its place which has left a great maney disaster behind it and great maney troubles to happen through distress of wars trials and distress all over the world but more so in Mexico and the Eastern portion of the world Europian powers as well as Mexico in the case of war with them too nation fighting among them selves braking up of there government and distroying of the people and leaving maney a suffering one behind to struggle through this troublesome world of sin and sorrow with out means of help onley the charitable acts of others which from the elects will be liking of a great deal of neaded help all a long the line of want and attention among the suffering people of now and later day on a head

Thursday December the 31st AD 1914- opened up a bright cold clear morning with bright Sunshine plenty of ice wind from the South west blowing quite cool Thermometer at or near 8-oclock this morning Registered at 30 Degrees tempature. The familey a rose Some what late this morning and when prepared for work Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far then the familey went to work at diferent work G.W.Frownfelter Junior went to Work too putting our Some umberellow chiney shrubs ( China Berry trees?) for shade trees, and his mother is russeling a round cleaning up her bed rooms and giving ventilation too the sick room whilse my wife is Siting by the fire resting of her Self Keeping warm and as too the writer he is taken down what the familey is doing to day. all buisey at something or nother about the premises and Still the bright day goes on as thought nothing had happened, what ever behind it and of course G W Frownfelter and his mother finished putting out there Umberraler chine Sprouts for Shade trees on the South Side of there house then it was that G W Frownfelter went to too the cotton patch, and stay the principal part of the day and his mother was as buisey as could be washing and ironing and looking after the Sick and other work about the premises to day The familey all too the writer eat there three meals of vituals to day and i were not feeling well and i eat my dinner quite late this evening and made one meal Serve both meals now the old year past out bright and clear and the sun shined beautiful all day long and the Sun past a way beautiful and bright when it departed for the last time in December 1914 to show it self again to give way for a nother year to take its place hoping that the new year may bring good health and prospersity may meet evry one in the universe all over our land and country and may be blest with good seasons (plenty of rain) to meet the demands of agriculture and crops where ever it is neaded and that evry person may live closter too there maker and live better and happier than ever before. and should any disaster happen to the nation that one and all may have strength to throw off the yoke of trouble and distress that befall any nation now as we are a bout throug with our labor for the last day of the old year AD 1914 we will depart too our bed of repose hoping to get a good night rest is the desire of the whole familey to night W.E. and Mr. M.V.Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Saturday January the 2th AD 1915 - Opened up quite a cloudey damp cool cloudey morning wind from the south west blowing damp and cold Thermometer at or near 8-oclock this morning Registered at 30- Degrees tempature- The familey arose Some what late this morning but when prepared for work Virginia Frownfelter went too work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the breakfast table then eat our morning meal and when all were through and the breakfast table cared far then Virginia Frownfelter went to work to puttint her house in good Shap a gain then She went to work at her yard cleaning of it up and getting of it in good Shap of Spring of the year and as the have qarenteened G C Frownfelters place on the account of Scarlet fever G W Frownfelter Junior is compelled to Stay in ranks to day as his Sister Mary is the one that has it but is much better to day. and as to my wife She is buisiley engaged Reading of a couple of News papers that her Sone E C Costley Sent her from Waco to read The times Herald and the Tribune both published in Waco Texas and as too the writer as we are quarenteened and i am not allowed to go out among the people, So i judge we will have to lay up and suck our paw like the Bare. as the arthorities will not go to town to get any thing untill the quarenteen is raised and by that time it maybe too late to do the familey any good what ever. Now at or near too oclock this after noon of to day we eat our noon meal as we are not engaged in any kind of work what ever there fore we never head any more to eat the balance of the day as too the weather it is gradually growing much cloudier as the day passes a way. Monday January the 4th AD 1914 (1915) - Opened up quite a nice morning blowed off clear and bright wind in the South west Thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning registered at 42 with Some calcarious clouds drifting in the air The familey arose Some what late this morning but when prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our morning meal and when all the familey were through and the breakfast table and contents cared far then Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work to do a little washing of Some garments for her Sick Daughter Mary Frownfelter as She has what the Doctors calls Scarlet fever and Willey Frownfelter is Still putting acover on his hog pen, and my wife is looking over a patten book or a Sample of clothing and the writer is buisey recording of what is being on a mong the familey this morning and as to Mary Frownfelter She is Getting a long alright So far bur her ear bothers her a great deal at times and then will ease off for Some bit and gives her Some rest now at or near twelve oclock noon to day we eat our noon meal prepared by my wife for the first meal that she has cooked since last February 1914 and she did the work well and when Served and placed on the table eat the Same and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we then moved in too our bed room for to take our usual rest for the night before going to bed, during the time the writer finished recording of the labor done by the familey to day also Willey Frownfelter finished covering of his hog pen and the writer wrote a part of a letter to G C Frownfelter road master on the Friso R Road from Fort Worth to Brady city, but his head quarters is at Brownwood in Brown County Texas we then departed too our bed or repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer to night Mr and Mrs. M V.Costley at Joshua Texas

Tuesday Jananuary the 5th AD1915- Opened up a cloudey dark gloomey morning wind from the South west blowing quite cool and a raw wind quite equal to a norther. The familey arose Some what late this morning and after being prepared for work Mrs M.V.Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken or morning meal and when all were through and the table cared far also the contents of the Same then the familey went to different work at the place of a bode as the quartenteen was rais this morning of all residenses that was Shut in from the efects of Scarlet fever. and Mrs Frownfelter was engage in putting her bed room in good Shape whilst Mary Frownfelter putting in her time sitting up by the fire as she has been sick so long and she too is one that is hard to controll in the case of sickness. my wife is complaining this morning of one side of her head hearting of her, so there is some one of the familey has to complain. and as too the writer he is doing as well as could be expected under all considerations. to day as no resemblance of yestarday as on yestarday was a dark clouey day through with a mist of rain at a late hour in the morning and wind in the South west, and to day is a bright clear nice cool day and from the north blowing freezing cold from the north but bright and clear at or near 12- oclock to day we eat or noon meal and when through and the table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest again, and when rested we went to work again Will Frownfelter to diging up Shrubrey and planting out a gain and his mother to cleening up her Sick room and fumigating of it and the writer to making Some lineament to use in the familey and other buisiness i had to attended too and during of the time we wrote Some letters and Sent them too the male by Willey Frownfelter and when the time come to do up the night Schores we went to work and finished them up we then eat our evening meal prepared by Mrs M.V.Frownfelter and after all were through and the table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the writer and familey to night. now this has been a nice clear cool day but quite cool and bleek wind quite Strong from the north Mr and Mrs W E Costley at Mr and Mrs G.C. Frownfelter prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the breakfast table and portaken of our morning meal and when through and the table and contents cared far then all hands went to work Mrs M V Frownfelter went too the wash tub, to wash Some garments for her Sick daughter whilst her Son Willey Frownfelter proceeded too the cotton patch to pull cotton burs as the owner of the cotton field has abandoned the i deer of trying too have it picked out of the bole and my wife is engaged in reading verious kinds of books and papers on the place and Mary Frownfelter she is nursing her self around the warm stove as she has been sick for some time with the erisippilus fever " (Erysipelas aka St. Anthony's fire a form of Strep.) just getting up from out of her Spell of about 14 days or more and as to the writer he has been assisting Some at the wash place getting up Some wood and drawing water and recording the work done on the premises and other work a bout the place through out the day Now at or near 3- oclock this evening the weather begin to change as the clouds began to collect in the north and kept it up untill a bout night fall untill the Element were thickley coated, over and become in the act of raining and the Sun went down in darkness as it were So cloudey and be come quite dark and drearry . as through it might be araining Soon now at or near 5- oclock Pm we began to do up our evening Schores and when through and we had Eat our noon meal and the table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest and then the writer finished recording of the days work then the familey departed too our bed of repose hoping a good nights rest to night is the desire of the writer and familey to night Mr and Mrs W E Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelters Joshua Texas

Friday January the 8th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cold morning wind from the North but bright and clear Thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning registered at 86(36)Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what late this morning but when prepared for work Mrs Virginia Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat We Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the table cared far we then went too other work about the premises Willey Frownfelter went to pulling cotton burs for his neighbor not far a west and his mother too the wash tubb washing Some quilts and my wife to reading Some news papers that her Son Sent her by mail with a letter that he wrote too the old people at Joshua Johnson County Texas whilst the writer was recording the labors done on the premises in the fore noon of today and Mary Frownfelter was engaged at shooting fire crackers taking her Christmas as she was confined too her bed on Christmas day and She is just getting out of bed just up able to be out of bed, and when Mrs. M.V. Frownfelter was through washing of the quilts She then went to work then prepared our noon meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selve down at the dinner table and eat our noon meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we then taken of a rest and then went to work a gain Mrs. M.V. Frownfelter went to work and Scowerd a couple of room floors and did other work a bout the place whilst the writer was a writing a answer too a letter that i received from Son E D Costley of Waco Texas and after getting through and the Schorse attended too . we then eat our evening meal and when through and the Suppertable and contents cared far then we taken our usual rest before going to bed now my wife was kept buisey reading news papers and other books of note The Doctor that inspects diseases was a round seeing how the troublesom diseases that was a float in the county and ordered the quarteen to continue for a few more days. Saturday January the 9th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cold frosty morning wind from the Thermometer at or near 8- o clock this morning registered at 30 Degrees tempature with a nearly frost on the ground this morning The familey arose Some what late this morning and when prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all are through and the table and contents cared far then Willey Frownfelter left for the cotton patch to putt cotton burs to day and as too the balance of the familey they remained in door and attended too the house work that is the woman folks and the writer work was to keep talley with what work they done to day and the condition of the weather as it come and went now in the earley part of the morning was Some what foggy but when the fog past away it become bright and clear and bright in the fore part of the day now at or near too - oclock to day we eat our noon meal prepared by Mrs M.V.Frownfelter and after we had Eat our noon meal and the noon table cared far then Mrs. M V Frownfelter went to work to prepare for ironing of the wearing apparel for the familey and when readey went to work and finished up before quitting and Mary Frownfelter her Daughter was engaged at looking out in her Roybuck catalog for Something that She was a neading just now as she had any and evry thing that was neaded in the familey weare and my wife was engaged at himing of the leggs of a pare of pants for the writer WE Costley to wear and as too the writer i have been engaged at reading the Waco Herald and the waco Tribune too papers printed in the town of Waco Texas and recording the work done on the premise to day up to three oclock this evening i then taken a Short rest before doing any more and after geting rested i went to work again at what was to be done on the premises this evening and when Mrs. M V Frownfelter finished Ironing She went to work baking Some mustang grape pies for a change in the way of food and conected with that part of the buisiness She prepared our usual evening meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal and when through and the Suppertable and contents cared for we then taken a rest how at the close of the day it be gan to cloud up a gain and become real cloudey all at once and much in the appearance of rain again as it has been doing all fall and winter now as it has been in the habet of Seting forth a dar (day) or So every weak and the balance of the weak fowl weather i judge it will keep it up the balance of the winter, now we all through we will take our usual rest then depart too our bed or repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey W.E.Costley and wife M.V.Costley at Mr and Mrs M V Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Monday January the 11th 1915- Opened up quite a bright cool morning wind from the North blowing brisk and cold Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning registered at 30 Degrees tempature freezing cold The familey a rose Some what late this morning and when prepared for work Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when through and the table cared far then as it was cold we remained in doors by the fire for a while but as we had to have Some medison William Frownfelter went too the Drug Store for the medison and for the mail and to mail Some letters and the writer he was buisey recording the labor done on the premises this morning whilst Mary frownfelter the Sick patient or rather has just got up out of a Spell of ayersipilaois fever (Erysipelas aka St. Anthony's fire a form of strep.) but is improving quite fast and is anxious to be out of doors and a nother old kid we have on hand is a invalid and that is the writers (wife) She to has had a Severe Spell but She too is doing well and the writer he is on foot Still going a head and So is thee cook She is Still hitting the Same old lick Still going a head as through nothing had happened, The writer, The writer received a letter from his Son at waco this morning C.C.Costley and after finishing up we eat our noon meal as Mrs. M V Frownfelter had prepared for the familey after getting of it Served and placed on the table and announce readey to be eat we Seated our Selve to the table then portaken of our noon meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we then taken our rest a gain. and later on we had a box of house hold goods brought too us from the Depot by William Kelley Shiped from Crawford our old home by Mr and Mrs Tom Stirling we then went to work and taken them out of the box and put them away and then Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter and her Son Willey Frownfelter went to work to put out Some Shade trees. and after getting through they went to other Kind of work a bout the premises and when the day was a bout passed away the night Shores was done up by Willey Frownfelter and when through all taken a rest and during of the time, the writer went to work and finished recording the work done on the premises to day and after getting through and resting for a bit we departed too our bed or repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer to night WE Costley and wife M V Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas

The familey arose the most of them quite earley this morning and after being prepared for work although not very well Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal, and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken our morning meal and when through and the table and contents cared far then the familey went to work about the premises that had to be done. and past the day of as usual under consideration of bad weather as we have been having all a long through the winter, and the first work that was to be done as labor a bout the place was to take the bed room clothing out and spred them out to air to keep down the disease what is termed the Scarlet fever, as there has been a case in the house here of late, and the ideer is to check the disease if it can be done at any rate, The Sick and aflicted is doing very well as yet no new cases in the familey all appeare to be doing quite well So far. this morning now after the morning work was over William Frownfelter went too pulling cotton burrs for one of his neighbors a that was the means of getting the cotton as the burr was so rotton that it could not be picked and had to pull the burrs to get the cotton, in order to get the white Staple Seperated from the Seeds So it can be manufactered in too clothing for the use and benefit of the human race of the people now at or near 3- oclock this evening we eat our dinner and Supper to geather, prepared by Mrs M V Frownfelter and after being prepared and placed on the table and announced to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then protaken of our noon meal and when through and the table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest and went to work again Mrs M.V.Frownfelter went to work at Sewing on a garment whilst the writer went to work to answer a letter that i just received from E E Mulican and after finishing of the letter i went to doing up the night work as it was getting Some what late in the evening as Willey Frownfelter was out picking cotton burs and cotton all togeather So when the work was finished up i then finished up recording of the labor that was done by the familey to day Willey Frownfelter for his days work picked one hundred and Seventy pounds of burrs and cotton mixed and my wife has Spent the evening in reading the waco herald and as to Mary Frownfelter She has been buisey all day helping about the house So all has been buisey alday and now as we are through we will take our usual rest then we will go to our bed of repose hoping to get a good night rest too night is the desire of the familey Mr and Mrs W E Costley at Mr and Mrs M V Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Wednesday January the 13th AD 1915 Opened up quite a cloudey cool morning wind from the South Thermometer at or near 8- Oclock Registered at 32 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what Earley this morning and after being prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal and then all were through and the table and contents cared far then different work began as gardening began this morning Mrs M V Frownfelter planted out her onion Sets, that is the first beginning of the gardening in January in ninteen teen hundred and fifteen although quite cold for the buisiness and the balance of the familey was confined too the house to keep the house in order but when through M V Frownfelter went to work to peiceing her up a quilt and Mary Frownfelter her daughter to practicing on the Peanno for the first time Since a week before christmas in 1914 as She has been Sick ever Since up too a few days back and as too my wife she is cleaning of her face to make her face clear and bright and as too the writer i am hear recording what is done on the place, to day and evry thing that transpired to day with the familey and other things of work that transpire on the premises through out the day althought the day is unfavorable to do much out door work as it appeares to be getting cloudier and colder and very damp and disagreeable as much So if the north wind was blowing bids fare for a nother change in the weather from what we have been having for the last few days past now at or near 12- oclock noon to day the wind is making a change from the South too the wes(t) blowing quite Strong and cool from that direction but is bright and clear in evry direction now at half past too oclock P.M. we eat our noon meal being late in the Evening and when through and the table and cared far then all taken a Short rest then went to work at what was to be done on the place, now the eavening continued bright and clear with a few calcarious clouds floating in the air but not enough to Shade the Sun Still goes on Shining out, brilliant and bright and the Sun Sit clear denting that in all probability that to morrow will be a nice day now after getting of the onion Sets Some too gallons and a half we then left off work and returned too the house and Mrs Mary Frownfelter went to work and peasing on her quilt whilst Willey Frownfelter went to work and burnt off a pice of grass on the Side walk on his way to Town to Joshua Texas, after getting through Willey Frownfelter taken a big play and his Sister Mary was assisting him to play and when through then Willey Frownfelter done up the nights Schores and when through we then taken our usual rest and then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey to night Mr and Mrs W E Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Thursday January the 14th AD 1915- Opened up quite a clear bright morning Sun a rose bright a clear, wind from the north Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning Registered at 32 Degrees tempature. with a prospect of a nice day a head The familey a rose Some what earley this morning and when prepared for work Miss Mary Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal as her mother was Sick and not able to cook earley this morning and after getting of it Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the table then portaken of our morning meal and when through and the table and contents cared for by Miss Mary frownfelter then Willey Frownfelter proceeded too the cotton patch to putt Burs and cotton in patch of cotton whilst the writer was engaged at Sweeping the rooms of the delling and the invalids was roud the warm Stove taken care of them Selves and after a bit revived up and become readey for buisiness, now the prospect is this morning for labor is good as Mrs M V Frownfelter begans to renivate her room by taken the bed stidds down and the stove moved them out taken the carpet up and put her mommies down and fumegated the room to drive out the poison should there be any left from the Scarlet fever from which her Daughter Mary Frownfelter has just gone through and when ready to replace the bead stids and bedding and furnature all back in the room again and fix it all write again the new pipe too the stove fit alright side up with care now we eat our noon meal at or near 20 minutes before three oclock this evening as we do not eat but too meals per day now this has been a beautiful day for work all the way through and it is to be hoped that it will continue So for some bit, as the farmers are neading work days to put there ground is Shape for a crop in 1915 from wich it is growing late in the Season for the buisiness now as the day has pass away and the night Schores are all completed we will now eat our evening meal and when through and the table and contents cared far then the familey all taken a rest and the writer too after finishing recording of the days labors willey Frownfelter reported to night of gathering too hundred and too pounds of cotton burrs with the cotton to day quite good for a boy of his age now as we are through and taken our usual rest we will go too our bed of repose hoping to get a quiet nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer to night Mr and Mrs W.E.Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Friday January the 15th AD 1915 - Opened up quite a bright and clear wind from the South west Thurmometer at or near Seven oclock Registered at 34 Degrees tempature cloudey earley this morning wind blowing from the South west this morning as cold appearantley as a norther would be The familey arose Some what earley this morning and after being preparing for work Mrs M.V.Frownfelter and her Daughter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the table the eat our morning meal and when through and the table cared far then the familey went to other work a round the premises and other places and Willey Frownfelter proceeded to assist his neighbor in gathering of his cotton and his mother to wastub (wash tub) again to washing a carpet to go on a floor in her bedroom and the Daughter to piecing on a quilt and my to doing of the talking and as to the writer he was engaged at the recording of the labor done on the place and to record the weather as it come and as it passed away and Still new cases in the town of Joshua Still continue to come in and from reports are getting to be numerous, all over town from what can be learn by Phone message, and Still the cloudey weather goes on, It is 12- Oclock noon to day and Still quite cloudey and the wind blowing from South west equal too a Starm very Strong indicating a change of weather from the movement of the atmosphere and the Elements now as we received a waco paper this morning the waco Tribune my wife and my Self has been buisiley ingaged reading of the news and a great deal going on through out the world at large now as we have kept the day almost as a Sabbath day as the wind was So distructive in coveing up evry thing with Sand as it blowed So hard, and the Sand So loose and tender to move. but at or near half past three oclock this evening we eat our evevening meal and when all were through and the dinner table and contents cared far we then went to work and done up our nights Schores as Mrs M V Frownfelter washed all evening in the hight wind and when all through we taken our usual rest and departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire and writer to night the wind at night to nigh went down with the Sun and become quite calm Mr and Mrs WE Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter

Saturday January the 16th AD 1915- Opened up quite a quite a beautiful bright clear morning Sun arose beautiful and bright although there were an Electric thunder Storm in the fore part of the last past night and a heavey rain from the west with Some hail from the west, also wind from the South west this morning Thermometer at or near 8- oclock A M of to day registered at 42 Degrees tempature, The familey arose from there bed of repose Some what earley this morning and after being prepared for work Mrs. M V.Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when the familey was through and the table and contents cared far then the familey all went too ther dailey occupation my wife not rest well on the last past night on account of a pain in her side and bowels and between her shoulders also in her lungs a pirfect reck althrough her sistem but the balance of the familey did very well rested well alnight Mrs M.V.Frownfelter went to work at her washing affares of the clothing for the familey this morning and willey Frownfelter to assisting of his mother in her work all a long the line of buisiness and as too mary frownfelter she was awaiting patientley for the Doctor to come to be examoned to know whether the quarenteen could be raised and let the familey go at large or no and so too my wife She is huvering around the stove keeping her self comfortable around the Stove as she did not rest well the last past night and as too the writers condition he did well on the last past night Slept well and eat a hearty breakfast this morning and was fully able to record the labor that was done on the premises this morning at nine oclock AM of to day and the good work is Still going on as through nothing has happened all a long the line and at or near nine oclock this morning the wind changed too the North west or rather north and continues clear and bright and clear not a cloud to be Seen in Elements at or near half pas(t) Eleven oclock a.m. of to day the wind returned too the west and becomes very cold as the norther is working west ward but the Thermometer remains at 42 Degrees tempature and appeartley turning colder and at or near 12- oclock noon Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter went to work to prepare our noon meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey too be eat and when all were through and the table and contents were cared far then the trouble come in was what is it we can do as the wind is So disagreeable ther is nothing that we can do but make fires at Sit by them as it turned Sudientley cold from the North west and the clouds was dark and thick in the north as thought it mout Sleet or Snow at or near half past 12- oclock P.M. Dr Peason raised the quarenteen at G. C. and Mrs M.V. Frownfelter place, January 16th A D 1915 and set the familey free to go and travel where they please and Willey went directley to Cleaberne for some goods for himself and for his mother Now this has been quite a raw day wind from the North west now at a late hour to day Willey Frownfelter and mother done up the nights Schores whilst Mary frownfelter waked up one of there neighbors for Some milk and when all the Schores was done up we eat our evening meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we then moved in too our bed room by a fire in a Stove as it was very cold as there was a heavey north Blowing and when the writer was through recording of our days labors and when through and we had taken our day usual we then departed too our beds of repose hoping to get a good night rest to night is the desire of the writer and familey W.E.Costley and Wife M V Costley at Mr and Mrs. G.C.Frownfelter Joshua Texas.

Sunday January the 17th AD 1915- Opened up quite a blustry cold morning an the wind blows Strong from the north freezing cold enough Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning registered at 26 Degrees tempature The familey at or near Seven oclock this morning arose from there bed of repose and after getting prepared for buisiness went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the table then eat our morning meal and when through and the breakfast table and contents cared far we then enjoyed a rest around the warm Stove and taken care of our Selves the best we knowed how, as it was very cold and disagreeable as too Willey Frownfelter him and the Jones boys they went too there Sunday School, and Mary Frownfelter become very mad and would not go under no circumstance on account of being so mad and stubborn but never the less that is the true statement of the case of her condition, now as the day passes away it Seems to grow cloudier and colder all the way through also represents Snow or Sleet and at night fall to night continued to have the appearance of Snow or Sleet as it was to cold to rain or do anything of the kind now we eat our noon meal and evening meal to geather after 4- oclock this evening and when through and the table and contents all cared far we then done up the evening Schores the writer finished recording the days labors we then taken our usual rest and departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a quiet nights rest to night is the desire of the familey as well as the writer Mr and Mrs WE Costley at Mr and Mrs. G.C.Frownfelter Joshua Texas.

Monday January the 18th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cold bright cold morning wind from the north blowing cold and bleak Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning Registered at 26 Degrees tempature with promise of a nice day a head The familey arose some what late this morning and when prepared for work Mrs.Virginia Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table and pertaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far then the familey then proceeded too there genenerand roteen work Willey and his Sister mary Frownfelter proceeded too there School a gain whilst there Mother prepared her Self for the wash tub and did do her washing to day prepareing for a trip to brown wood to See her Husband also her Daughter Mary Frownfelter is going with her mother to See her Parents , and will be gone a bout one week and then will return home a gain the first visetor we had this Morning was young Mr. Kelley and his Mother to Spend the day with her Mother and familey and the old people to geather Now this is the day that the county has fixed up on to organise the farmers union in order to bring the famers in clost Simpathy with each other in orde to incourage the farmer to leave off planting So much and raise more Stock of all king and hoggs and grain to feed them on and to diversify there crops in order to get a better price for what they raise all a long the line and the question is how are they going to do that unless the land Lord will consent to let them diversify there lands for the buisiness in order to help to make this change that is wanted too be made all at once,and write a way at that look out for what is coming next and watch for results at or near half past 12- oclock this evening prepared by Mrs. M.V. Costley and after being prepared and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then prepared our Selves for eating our noon meal then Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our noon meal and when through and the table and content cared far we then followed up our old trade Sitting a round the warm Stove, as we have been doing for the last past month and the writer has been quite buisey to day helping doing the work a round the place and Still Kiching a head as though nothing had happened what ever if the north wind was bleak and cold from the north blowing Strong i went all the Same as ther was a meeting at the cloage this evening of the farmers union School was dismissed for the meeting to take place for the remainder of the day but will take up to morrow morning again and at or near half past too oclock this Evening the writer for the first time in six weeks walked up in too Joshua too the mail office to get the mail and too mail a letter too Mr and Mrs J.M. Costley in Hamelton County Texas and after mailing of it i then walked up too Kelley Store and purchased some coffee and some wax to chew for my wife and to balance of the familey, and after getting my lamp burner and the glove that went with it i then returned home and occupied my time reading the waco Tribune untill just time to do up the night Schores which i did and after getting through we then eat our evening meal and when through and the table and contents cared far we then taken our usual rest before going to bed and during that time the writer funished recording of the days labors and when through and the rest that we generally take then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer WE and wife MV Costley at G C and Mrs MV Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Tuesday January the 19th AD 1915- Opened up quite clear cold morning wind from the North Thermometer at or near Seven oclock registered at 30 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what earley this morning and after being prepared for work Miss Mary Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal as her mother was feeling bad and did not arise from her bed of repose untill late in the day So by the by when mary Served the morning meal and placed it on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when through and the breadfast table cared far then Willey Frownfelter wrote a letter to his PaPa that his mother was Sick and could not come to Brownwood to day as her and Mary her Daughter was aiming to make a Start this morning but could not go on the account of being in the bed Sick So that broke up the Expected trip to Brownwood Texas and the children then went to School whilst Edna Kelly come over to her mother to Stay with her a while untill She become but which She did in a few hours and my wife was buisey for some time washing her face and cleaning her Self up for the day whilst the writer was engaged at nursing and Singing to Edna Kelleys Baby my grandaughter and after taken care of the baby for some bit then his grand mother taken him and cared for it for some bit then fell in the hand of its mother as he is a hard kid to manage i can tell you and as too the writer he was engaged at recording the labor done by the familey to day it being at or near half past ten oclock A M of to day and just at that time my wife began to put on black eyed peas for our noon meal and the Sick woman was a great deal better able to be up by the Stove about that time Edna Kelley left for her place with her Baby to prepare her noon meal for her little familey of three in number So that is the way that the day was passing Now at or near half past 12- oclock this after noon we eat our noon meal and when through and the dinner table cared far by the writer as Mrs M V Frownfelter was going too a funeral of Mr and Mrs Howards child Some too miles west of Joshua in Johnson county Texas and the writer taken care of the dinner table and put evry thing in good Shape a gain then finished writing of my letter to Ed Costley then taken and mail the letter and received a letter from J D Tubbs of Stamford i then walked down too the depot and taken a talk with the Depot agent and while there i obtained a Fort Worth news paper, i returned home by walking the path way of the railroad, after arriving at home we then went to work to reading of the letter and newspaper untill late in the evening we then went to work and done up the night Schores and when through we then eat our Evening meal and when through and the evening meal and the table and contents cared far we then taken our usual rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good night rest to night is the desire of the familey to night W.E. and Mrs M V Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua

Wednesday January the 20th AD 1915- Oppened up quite a cold morning wind from the blowing brisk and cold but bright and clear as the noon days Sun Thermometer at or near 8- oclock Registered at 34 Degrees tempature. The familey a rose from there bed of repose Some what late this morning but after arising from our bed of Slumber and being prepared for work Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter went to work then prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal and when the familey was through with there morning meal and the breakfast table and contents cared far then the familey went to other work William and Mary Frownfelter went to School whilst Mrs Frownfelter there mother went too the wash tubb to wash the garments for the familey, and the writer to cleaning up the bed rooms and other rooms about the premises and after getting through, i then went to town for Some Soap for the lady of the house to wash with and when i returned with the Soap i then went to work to record the amount of work and what Kind of work each one of the familey did in the fore part of the day and as too my wife She prepared the noon meal and when Served and placed on the table we Seated our Selves too the dinner table then eat our noon meal and when all were throuigh and the table cared far then the children return to School a gain and Mrs Frownfelter too the wash tubb and my wife and the writer to taken care of the dinner table and contents for our part of the work we then taken a short rest Still feeling as well as usual for old people and at or near too oclock P M the writer walked up in Town for my mail and Some medison for my wife also a Spool of Silk thread for my Daughter M.V.Frownfelter of Joshua Texas, and then returned home then began to investigate the news in the waco Herald a paper published in waco Texas and in a Short time Mrs Seals came in on a viset to See Mrs M V Frownfelter and familey Then in a Short while old man Keller came in for a talk as he is a great hand to talk a great Socialist he just lives a cross the Street from Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter one of her old neighbors So is Mrs Seals and Spent the evening very pleasantley making the familey feel a great deal better as all has been pened up So long not allowed to go out nor no one allowed to come in what ever, now as the day come too a close we went to work and done up our evening Schores but before we began Edna Kelley come over and brought her Baby to See the familey and pass off the time as She is a greater portion of her time all a lone onley her baby to keep her companey in the day time as her husband is a merchant and is always at the store in the day and that leaves the woman baby all alone Now at the regular time we done up the night Schores then eat our evening meal prepared by Mrs M V Frownfelter and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we then Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal and when through and the table and contents cared far we then taken our usual rest and during of the time that the familey was resting the writer went to work and finished recording of the work that was done on the premises to day and the visets that was paid the familey to day and the health and condition of the familey and all the familey is on foot but the writer, he has something similar to neuralga in my head and shoulders not feeling very well to night altho on foot Now as the familey is all through and have taken our usual rest we will go too our bed of repose hoping to get a quiet nights rest to night is the desire of the writer and familey to night WE And Mrs M.V. Thursday January the 21st AD 1915- Opened up quite a clear cool morning wind from the South west Thermometer at or near 8-oclock this morning registered at 40 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what earley and when prepared for work Mrs M VFrownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal before my wife and the writer arose from there bed of repose as they were going to Brownwood to day Mrs M V Frownfelter and her Daughter Mary the eat there breakfast and Started for the inter urban to go up too Fort Worth to take the Frisco line to Brownwood Texas as that is the nearest rout and when my wife and i a rose from our bed of repose we then warmed up the food then eat our morning meal and when through and i had attended too the breakfast table and contents i then put the bed rooms all in good Shape a gain when throug i walked up too Mr Kellers to See his Son a ath (an another?) man load on a load of large sawed blocks of poast oak wood that his parents gave him as he has just recently been married and after they had loaded the wagon and started for there place of a bode with there load i then returned in doors as it was just a cross the street from where I was staying and after returning in doors i went to work to record what had been done to day up too Eleven of clock to day by the familey The Edna Kelley come over across the way to get my wife her grandmother to go and stay with her today as she was some what lonsom all a lone just with her baby so the old lady went and i remain at home up to 12-Oclock noon to day then the writer walked over to my granddaughters for my dinner and after arriving at the place and the noon meal being prepared and readey to be eat we seated our selves too the dinner table then portaken of our noon meal and when all were through Mr William Kelley returned to his store and the writer returned home to do some more letter writing that i had to do write a way and after finishing up writing my letters i then walked up too the postoffice to mail them and get my mail if any ther be for the writer but after making of my trip to town and mailing my letter i Soon out that were mail for the familey So i occupied my time looking about the buisiness part of Town and in So doing i found some work going on in the town as there were a few hands digging out the foundation to build a new brick house near where there were too burn down this fall and when through the inspection of the work i then returned home and contented my Self a reading a Clearbune weekley ness (news) paper and after getting through i then walked over too Edney Kelley to take my wife Some medison as She was not well and then returned back home then went to work and prepared the evening meal and when Served and readey to be eat i walked down to Mrs Ed Kelley and accompanied my wife home but i had prepared the evening meal before going and when we returned home Willey Frownfelter done up the evening Shores and he too had the head aches but when through we eat our evening meal and when all was through with our meal the writer went to work and put the Suppertable and content all in good Shape and when through we then taken a Short rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to nigh is the desire of the familey and writer to night W E Costley and wife M V Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Friday January the 22dh AD 1915- Opened quite a at morning wind from the North Thermometer at or near Seven oclock Registered at Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what late this morning and when prepared for work Willey frownfelter prepared the morning meal we have a new out fit of cooks now Since Mrs. M V. Frownfelter left for Brownwood Texas her and her Daughter Mary Frownfelter our regular cooks but however we made out quite well as it were So Willey made the bred and the writer made coffee and fried the meat we then Set the table and when readey we Seated our Selves too the table the eat our morning meal and when through and the table cared far then Willey Frownfelter went to School whilst the writer attended to putting the bed and dining rooms all in good Shape a gain as my wife was on the Sick list to day and did not rest verry well last night but is Some better this morning as her appetite is much better than on yesterday but yet her bowels does not move what ever therefore she can not feel so very well after all it is quite a Sudden change all at once as we have had Several nice days her(e) of late but too the reverse this morning as there is a heavey norther up this morning dark and gloomey no Sunlight nor no prespects to day for any and the thermometer at ten ock (oclock) in the fore noon of to day registered at 22 Degrees tempature and a growing colder all the time had gone down from 62 Degrees on late yestarday to 22 Degrees tempature growing colder evry minute as it rolls a round and the appearance of the Element Show that there will be Snow or Sleet to fall Soon as it Seems readey to start at it at any time but yet has not began it ravish work at or near 12- oclock to day we eat our noon meal prepared by the writer we eat it by the warm Stove in our bed room as there were no one else to eat but my wife and the wirter as Willey Frownfelter eat his dinnner with his sister Edna Kelley and after getting through and the table and contents cared far we taken a few minutes rest then the writer walked up too Joshua the buisiness part of the town to See Doctor Townson to get some quinine and iron for my wife to take and after getting of the medison i returned home and gave her a dose then went work to reading of a letter that receved from my Son Ed. Costley of waco also a Waco herald news paper after getting through i then went to work to write a letter too one of my old friends C.J. Saturday January the 23dh AD 1915- Opened up quite a cold morning wind from the North Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning registered at 12 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what late this morning and when prepared for buisiness William Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then portaken of our morning meal and after the table and contents was cared far by Willey Frownfelter we then did but little of any thing as up to getting of our noon me(al) as it was freezing cold as the thermometer was down too freezing being at 12 - oclock to day being 12 Degrees tempature and Still growing colder my wife appears to be Some better this morning although Still a bed all the Same She eat Some breakfast this morning but had to go too bed a gain did not feel like Setting up what ever it Shurley is cold this morning and very dark and cloudey almost in the act of Sleeting it is so cold all it likes is to rain and it would go in to ice and remained all day in condition but during the day the thermommeter went up to 22 Degrees tempature now we have been Sticking clost too the fire alday on account of being So cold and disagreeable as night approched we that is Willey Frownfelter done up the night Schores then him and the writer prepared the evening meal and when Served and placed the table we Seated our Selves to the table and him and i eat our evening meal as my wife eat her evening meal by a warm Stove in her bed room and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we then move in too the fire in our bedroom takened a good rest and during the time the writer recorded the work done on the premises to day then taken a rest then we went too our bed of repose hoping to get a good night rest to night is the desire of all that is at home as too my wife She appears to be Some better to night as so far she has not got any fever to amount to any thing and rests a great deal better, So far now as we have taken our usual rest we will now go too our bed or repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire W.E Costley. Sunday January the 24th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cold morning heavey snow on the ground fell on the last past night wind from the blowing in the fore part of the day and though it was dark and gloomey in the earley part of the day the Sun come out bright at or near eleven oclock and of to day i Suppose the Snow fell Some one and a half to too inches deep Thermometer at or near Seven oclock registered at 20 Degrees tempature, The familey what there were of us a rose Some what late this morning as the writers wife was Sick in bed and Willey Frownfelter and the writer was the dependance for cooking So we arose from our bed or repose and when prepared for work we then went to work and prepared the morning meal during of the time , Willey walked too one of the neighbors house and purchased Some Sweet milk as he wanted Some Sweet milk as he wanded a glass of Snow cream which he had when he returned as he mixed the snow with the milk and sweetened it with shugar and then he had ice cream alright all a long the line boys we then finished our morning meal and eat the Same the writer and this wife eat of a Small table in our bed room as it were too cold for her to go too the breakfast table in the dining room in Kitchen and when all were through and the breakfast table and contents cared far we then taken a rest that is my wife and my Self as She was Sick in bed Sick and i had to take it a lone by a warm Stove to Sit by as Willey Frownfelter was out snow balling with some boys as the ground was covered with snow just readey for the buisiness for boys to take slay rides but not any that i seen rode on the slays not deep enough to ride good there fore they just stayed in doors alday and the writer also as it was too cold too be on the Snow i did walk over to Bill Kelleys late this evening to take a couple of letter to get him to mail them for the writer and write back a gain as my wife was Sick and all a lone with out help Should She nead aney after returning Willey frownfelter and the writer went to work and prepared our noon and evening meal to geather, and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our twin meal dinner and Supper and when through the writer attended too putting the Suppertable and contents all in good Shape a gain then provided Something for my wife to eat as she was a invalid and was not readey to eat and when i had it provided for her She then eat a light Supper as She was not hungry and did want to eat but a little and did not want to eat much we then taken Short rest and She went to bed whilst the write sit up and finished recording of labor done by the familey to day and when through the writer finished writing a letter too my Son and daughter in the west end of hamalton county Texas and when through and the table cared far that i were that i were writing i then departed too my bed of repose hoping that the familey will rest well to night is the desire of the familey to night W E Costley and wife M.V.Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Tex

Monday January the 25th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cold morning heavey breeze on the last past night wind from the South East Some what cloudey Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning registered at 20 Degrees tempature with a good prospect of more falling weather The Thermometer at or near Seven oclock A M Registered at 20 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what late this morning and when we arose and prepared our Selves for work Willey frownfelter and the writer went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table we Seated our Selves too table then portaken of our morning meal and when though and the breakfast table cared far then willey proceeded to School and the writer remained at home to wait on my wife as She was Sick in bed and have been for Several days past. and at or near ten oclock A.M. Mrs Edna Kelley came over to Spend the day with the old people and in a Short time Old GrandMother Seals and her daughter in law come over to See the familey as my wife was Sick but did not Stay no great while before returning home and at or near Eleven oclock this morning Edna Kelly went to work and prepared our noon meal and when Served and placed on the table wen (we then) Seated our Selves to the table then portaken of our noon meal that Edna Kelley prepare for the familey to day and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the table then eat our noon meal and when through and the table and contents cared far we then continued to rest as we had nothing to do other wise than to rest untill our regular time to eat whice came at five oclock PM of too day which we eat our evening meal when through and the Supper table and contents cared far, went to our regular rest as usual all too Willey Frownfelter as there was a Show in town to night he went to it, and the old folks remained at home as my wife was Sick and would not have gone if She had been well too old to go to Such a place. now during the time we were taken our rest the writer recorded the labor done by the familey to day and when through and i had Started to write to Mr and Mrs Tom Stirling i then departed too my bed of repose as well as the rest of the familey hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer to night Mr and Mrs W E Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter

Tuesday January the 26th AD 1915- Opened up quite a dreary wet disagreeable morning as it had been raining through the night and keeping of it up through the day up to 12- oclock noon to day and has the appearance of continuing on from the South as that is the way that the wind is from in the fore noon of to day Thermometer at an Earley hour this morning Registered at 30 Degrees tempature Willey Frownfelter and young Mr Jones a rose quite earley this morning and when prepared for work they went to work then prepared the morning meal and when they had it Served and placed on the table they then eat the Same as the writer did not have time to eat as my wife was Sick and i had to wait on her which throwed me quite late in eating of my morning meal but eventually i got too it then eat a hearty meal, and when i were through i went to work and put the breakfast table and contents all good Shape a gain and then went to work cleaning up our bed room and putting of it in Shape a gain and when through i then went to work to recording of the labor done on the premises to day up to 12-oclock noon of to day and Willey Frownfelter had to go down too Edney Kelleys for his din his Sister as my wife was So Sick She did not give me time to cook dinner to day So i had to pass it by for a nother time and in all probabillty we will have time to cook when it comes time to cook in the evening late, Willey can do the cooking him Self as he is quite a good cook for a young lad like him now it was Some what late in the evening before the writer prepared to eat not one bit hungry but at or near five oclock in the evening the writer went to work then prepare dinner and Supper to geather and when Served and placed on the table we then Seated our Selve too the table and eat our dinner and supper to geather as my wife did not care to eat any what ever So when all were through and the table and content care far i then continued to rest and wait on my Sick wife and during of the time i wrote a letter too my Son C C Costley and when through we then departed too our bed of repose hoping all the familey and evry one else may rest well to nigh is the desire of the family W.E.Costley and wife Mr. M Costley at Mr and Mrs M V Frownfelter in the Town of Joshua Texas

Wednesday January the 27th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cloudey dreary morning just in the act of raining and cold winter like wind from the South Blowing damp and cold Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning Registered at 30 Degrees tempature, The familey was out of bed Some what late this morning but after getting prepare for work we had but little to do as my grandaughter Edna Kelley prepare our morning meal and brought it too us and then we eat the Same and when through Willey Frownfelter taken a trip up too the drug Store for some caugh medison for my wife and when he returned with the caugh medison and then went to School and the writer remained at home with his Sick wife too attend too her, too make her as comfortable as possible and Still it is a cool cloudey cold looking day all a long the line, Boys my wife so far appears to be much better in her Sick Spell not So Sick to day as She were yestarday resting much better up too 12- oclock to day and then become not So well as her fever rose and had fever all the coming night now the day passed away with my wife and the writer all a lone and She was Sick and had been for a week now as the day passed a way and looking forward for the rest to come too her but it Seemed that there was no Such luck for her that day for before the day passed a way her fever rose a gain, and She become quite poorley at the latter part of the day Willey Frownfelter and the writer eat our evening meal and when through and the evening table and contents cared far we then taken our usual rest and in a Short while Mrs Kelley and her daughter, Mrs Allen and Mrs Allens daughter came in and spent a few hours with the old people then left for there place of a bode and the writer and Willey departed there bed of repose as my wife was already a bead hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey to night W.E.Costley and wife M V Costley at Mr and Mrs M V Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Thursday January the 28th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cloudey damp morning very cloudey and cold wind from the East blowing as cold as winter time Shure enough Thermometer a(t) or near Seven oclock AM Registered at or near Seven this morning at 30 Degrees tempature The familey a rose Some what late this morning but after getting prepared for work Willey and i prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table we then Seated our Selves too the table and portaken of our morning meal and when through and the breakfast table and contents cared far willey Frownfelter Phoned for Dr Peason to come to See his Grandmother as She was Sick and in a Short whild the doctor came to See her and prescribe Some medison for her i then had to go too the Drug store in Joshua Texas to get the medison the act of kindness was done by William kelley to get the medison for the old people and bring it too the old people. and then i went to work and began to give the medison as the Doctor directed and kept it up through the day and she began to get better all a long throught the day and the day remained dark and gloomey all the way through as through nothinging had happened now we eat our dinner and Supper to geather to day at or near fore oclock PM to day as we not hungry what ever and after getting through and the dining table and contents cared far we then taken a rest but a bout that time Mrs Maud Bowman and young Mrs Seals come to See my wife as She was Sick in bed and not Sit up and remained for Some bit, and the returned home not living but a Short way from my daughter where we are Staying at Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter in Joshua Texas now after we were through with our days toil and had taken our usual rest and the writer had finished up his record of his day rest and record we departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey to night Mr and Mrs W.E.Costley to night at Mr and Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Friday January the 29th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cloudey cool morning wind from South west blowing quit cold Thermometer at or near half ten oclock this morning registered at 40 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what late this morning and after being prepared for buisiness Mr . M.V.Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal as She returned from Brownwood on last evening being January the 28th AD 1915- at about Seven oclock in the evening So when She was prepared for work She then went to work then prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the breakfast table then eat our morning meal and when through and the table cared far then Willey and his Sister Mary Frownfelter went to School and the rest of the familey remained at home to care for the Sick and to prepare meal vituals for the familey to eat at ther meal time when ever it come time to eat and when the noon meal was Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our noon meal and when all were through and the dinner table and contents cared far we then contented our Selves by remaining in doors and the children went to (s)chool a gain and yet it is damp and cloudey just in the act of raining from the looks of the Elements wind Still from the Sout(h) west Mrs M V. Frownfelter calculated to go after her Daughter Louese Leng but the looks of the weather bluffed her out as it was So gloomey and so far to go Some ten miles too where she is going or aimed at going North from the Town of Joshua Texas on rock creek where She is teaching School So the looks of the weather bluffed her of from going this evening So She gave it ?et and did not and well She did not for the weather was too unfavorable as it was misting rain Slowley now at or near five oclock this eavening Mrs Keller brought Some th over too my wife to eat as it Seems that She has no appetite for eating to eat as her Stomacke appears to be too weak to crave any thing what ever well as the writer had nothing else to do i wrote a letter to my Son in waco this evening E.D. Costley and familey also to Tom Stirling and familey and Mary Frownfelter mailed them for me when wrote after getting through i then done up my night Schores and through with that part of the work i then put Some coffee on the Stove to make as i have to have my coffee of a night ot make me Sleep well, So after drinking of my coffee and eating a few bites as well as the rest of the familey after all were through and the evening table and conts cared far we then taken our usual rest and during of the time i finished recording of our days labors and when through and the Suppertable and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good night rest to night is the desire of the writer and familey to night WECostley and wife M.V. Sunday January the 31AD 1915 Opened up quite a morning wind from the blowing from that direction Thermometer at or near Seven oclock A m Registered at 44 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what earley this morning and of getting prepared for work Mrs M V.Frownfelter went to work and Served the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when through and the table and contents cared far we then taken a long rest as it were the Sabbath day of our lord 1915 and the first visetors to come to see us this morning was Mrs M V Frownfelter and baby (Edna & Keith) and her Sunenlaw William Kelley so the familey had a hog killing time over the baby and my wife was up sitting in her rocking chair and eat her breakfast sitting in her chair in front of a good warm stove and appears to be much better this morning and quite lively and appears to be doing quite well in her Sickness as a invalid now evry thing appears to be driving a long Smoothley and quiet all a long the line, although it is quite damp and cloudey and the Sun Shines out nicely but promises to be a mome (more) favorable day that has been the last past week as it has been quite unfavorable all the way through but promises to be Some better to day now a the taken our rest to day up too a bout one oclock P.M. then eat our noon meal prepared by Mrs M V Frownfelter and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our noon meal having Mr and Mrs William Kelley and young Mr Jones to dine with the familey and a young girl i do not know her name and after all were through and the dinner table cared far we then taken a nother rest but at too oclock Louese Leng returned too her boarding Some distance away from Joshua and her Mother and daughter Mrs William Kelley walked over too Mrs Barretts to See a Sick child at her place and during of the time Mrs and Mr Seals he called in to See the familey as my wife was Sick in bed and remained in doors as She was not able to be up long at a time and when the visetors returned home being Some what late the night work was Soon done up and evening Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we then Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we moved in too our bed room to take a Short rest and during of the time the writer recorded the labors and viseting that was done a bout the premises and when throug and the writer taken a Short rest to day or rather to night then all went too there bed of repose hoping to get a comfortable nights rest to night is the desire of the familey Joshua Texas Mr and Mrs W.E.Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter

Monday February the 1st AD 1915- Opened up quite a cold disagreeable morning Some what cloudey wind from the north cold and bleeky also Strong Thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning Registered at 30 Degrees tempature The familey a rose Some what earley this morning and after being prepared for buisiness Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat the familey all too my Seated our Selves down too the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal and my wife eat in front of a warm Stove in her bedroom as She was not able to go too the breakfast table and after all were through with there morning meal Will and Mary Frownfelter proceeded too there School near by and Mrs M.V.Frownfelter went to work to put her breakfast table and contents kitchen and dining room in good Shape a gain also her bed rooms and other work a bout the house that she had to do which keep her buisey all the while and as too the writer he is engaged at recording of the labor done by the familey and a waition on my Sick wife that has been in bed Some twelve days or more with fever and a Severe caugh and colds now we eat our noon meal at or near 12 - oclock to day prepared by Mrs M V Frownfelter and all were through and the dinner table and contents eared far we then all taken a Short res(t) then went to work a gain in prepareing of Some letters for to mail and after getting prepare to Send a way the writer walked too the post office and mailed our letters that we had wrote and when i mailed the Same i then walked in too the Kelly Brother Store and taken a good warm as the north wind was blowing Swiftley and cold from the north and as they had a good fire i remained at the place for Some bit as we had good companey to occupy our time with, so after So long a while then purchased a few articles then left for home coming by the Depot to See how the Depot agents wife was getting a long as She had the Scarlet fever too but was better after arriving at home we then red the letters that we or i rather got out of the post office one from my Son E D Costley and one from my Grandaughter Ada Costley both of waco after getting through the evening Schores then was done up by the familey we then eat our evening meal prepared by Mrs and Frownfelter Miss Mary Frownfelter and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the table then portaken of our evening meal all too my wife She eat her meal vitual in her bed room by a good fire and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we moved in too our bed room by a warm fire and taken a good rest and during the time all were rest the writer finished recording of the days labors that was done by the familey to day my wife appears to be a great deal better to night than She has been Since She had Since She has been Sick now as all are through with our work for to day we will go too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey Mr and Mrs W E Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelters in Joshua Tex

Tuesday February the 2th AD 1915 Opened up bright and cool wind from the north Thermometer at or near 10- oclock A M of to day registered at 42 Degrees Tempature The familey a rose tolerably earley but the old people they were Some what late arising from there bed of rest owing to not being well but by then Mrs M.V.Frownfelter had the morning meal Served and placed on the table we were up readey to eat and when the morning meal was announced readey to eat we Seated our Selves down too the table then eat our morning meal all too my wife She eat her morning in front of a warm Stove as She was not able to go too the breakfast table for her meal yet after all were through eating of our morning meal and the breakfast table and contents all cared far then Willey and Mary Frownfelter went too School and ther mother too the wash tubb to wash the familey clothes and the writer to helping a round first helping my wife waiting on her then assisting Ginnie about her washing and at 12- oclock when the children come from School we eat our noon meal prepared by Mr MV Frownfelter at intervals between times in washing the clothes and after all the familey had dined Mrs Frownfelter proceeded too the wash tubb to washing the garments a gain and the children went to School and the writer attended the house and waited on my wife in her affiction and when doing the house work i then went to work at my book recording of what was done on the premises to day and the condisiotion of the familey in health all appear to be doing well enough considering Evry thing as it comes and goes and this has been a beautiful clear bright day with Some thin calcauious clouds floating through the Elements but not enough to Keep the Sun from Shining out but just before Sun Set it got thick cloudey and closed the Sun in and Sit behind a cloud and the Simpton of the weather was very unfavorable for any thing but good for favorable weather now the writer after walked up in town to See Dr Towns and i did not find him i then walked over too his house and he was not at home neith was his wife i then walked over too Mr Barrets as he had a patent over to his house and he was not there but i learned from the familey where he was he had gone to cleburne to help to performe a operation on a lady for i know what not and while i were at Mr Barrets i came from Cleburne on the interurban and the Joshua Station was clost too Mr Barretts So i come on to him at last and told him my buisiness then come on home and in a Short while he come to See my wife as She was in bed Sick after he came and examened her he then prepared Some medison for her to take and began take the medison write a way before he left the(n) and i gave her a dose to night at 8- oclock and a red Square pill whe(n) the approach of night came the night Schores was done up then we eat our evening meal prepared by Mrs M V Frownfelter and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the Suppertable then portaken of our evevening meal and when through and the table and contents cared far then Mrs M V Frownfelter and her Daughter Mary paid viset too a new neighbor Mr Seals and wife just a Short ways off whilst the writer and his wife remain in doors as She was in bed Sick also Willey Frownfelter he remain at home to learn his Scove less on which was a wise trick in him and during the time i was watching over my wife i finished recording of the labors of the day that has passed and gone when through we Still continued to rest as Mrs Frownfelter and her daughter had returned home from there viset we then returned too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights to nig is the desire of the familey and writer to night WE Costley and M V Costley at Mr G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Wednesday February the 3dh AD 1915- Opened up quite cloudey drearry morning much in appearance of rain or some other Kind of falling weather. Thermometer at or near nine oclock A M registered at 42 Degrees tempature. The familey arose rathe(r) late this morning but when prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the table all too my wife as She eat her marsel of food in the bed room by a warm Stove and the familey at the breakfast table in the dining table in the dining room and when the familey was through with there morning and the table and contents cared far then the children went to School and ther mother and the writer was left at home, to attend too my wife and the balance of the work that was to be done on the premises and Still the bad weather goes on all the Same Not at this hour being half past Eleven oclock AM of to day Mrs M V Frownfelter was a ironing of her clothes that She washed on yestarday, and when noon day She had the noon meal prepared and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our noon meal but my wife She eat her meal in her bedroom and after all were through and the table and contents cared far the children returned to School a gain as the School is near by and Mrs. M.V. Frownfelter proceeded too her ironing a gain and the writer at his record book recording the labors of the day and waiting on my invalid wife as She has and is yet Sick not able to wait on her self just now and have to be attended too now a bout mid Evening Mrs King and Mrs McKee of Joshua Texas and paid the familey a viset and returned home late in the Evening and just before they left i taken a walk over old man Kellers farm or the principal part of it viewing his orchard and black burry patch and witnessed on Strange iton (item) in my walk was a couple of switch top Elm trees growing out on high land is one thing i never noticed on high land before now after returning back to where we were Staying we then done up the night work then eat our evening meal and when through we eat our evening meal prepared by Mrs Frownfelter and having of it Served and placed on the table then placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the Supper then portaken of our evening meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far then Mrs Frownfelter viseted her daughter but a Short way from residence and Willey Frownfelter and one of his neighbor boys empleyed them Selve playin check(ers?)untill late and Mary Frownfelter looking on at the boys playing there game and after getting enough of there game they then return too the bed of repose whilst the writer was recording the work and what had transpired through the day and when through as it was getting Some what late we departed too our bed or repose hoping to get a good nights rest to nights rest is the desire of the writer Mr and Mrs WE Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelters in Joshua Texas

Thursday February the 4th AD 1915- Opened up quite a clear nice bright morning although there were an electric Storm last past night with a good rain to fall but we were of the opinion that it was not neaded but then it is not left for us to know wind in the South blowing mildley but cool and damp Thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning Registered at 46 Degrees tempature The familey a rose Some what Earley this morning and after being prepared for labor Mrs Frownfelter went work and prepared our morning and after getting of it Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the breakfast table and contents cared far then the children prepared them Selves for School and then went to School whilst the balance of the familey was left to wait on the writers wife and do the work on the place i gave my wife a Strick nine tablet at five minutes of half past nine oclock a.m. of to day as She was troubled with her hea(r)t a great deal to day or rather this morning There are due the writer in the Joshua Bank February the 4th AD 1915 Eight Dollars and fifty cents to be paid to my connand now i have just finished writing a letter too my son at Waco and will mail it this Evening February the 4th AD 1915- Now we were viseted by a lady this morning Mrs Ewing but a little ways off clost neighbor also Mrs Ednney Kelley and baby Mrs M V Frownfelter a clost neighbor to her mother my wife at or near half past Eleven taken with a colache from drinking a little butter milk which Should be good for any one that is Sick but did not go well in her cast not at or near one oclock to do we eat our noon meal to day having Mr and Mrs William Kelley to dine with the familey to dine with the familey to day as they intend to go to cleburne and back this evening some 8 miles down the road they go on the inter urban train it is cheaper and a quicker rout as it comes and goes evry hour from Cleburne to Fort Worth Texas My wife did not eat any dinner today she had the colache quite severe for some bit before getting easey and when the table and content was cared far then the familey went to other work that was to do a bout the premises to day the children went School whilst Mrs Frownfelter was engage at Sewing making of a garment for Some one of the familey and the writer was engaged at trying to read Some news papers but as my Specks did not fit my eyes i made a poor out in reading and attend geting through walked up in town to mail a letter to C.C.Costley of waco Texas and to draw $3.50 out of the Bank of Crawford Texas and after returning home we done up our night Schores then eat our evening meal Mrs Frownfelter prepared our evening meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal and all were through and the table and contents cared for we we then moved in too our bed room for a rest and during of the time the writer then finished recording of the labors of the day, an when through and the rest was completed we then departed to our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey to night Old Grandmother Seals was a visetor of the familey this evening and Spent the evening with the familey this is the first day that has went out clear that i know of this winter that recollect of it Shurley has been a beautiful day all the way throug Mr and Mrs W.E.Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter

Saturday February the 6th AD 1915- Opened up quite a beautiful clear bright morning wind in the north west blowing quite cool and brisk earley this morning Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning registered at 30 Degrees tempature The familey all too my wife a rose from there bed of repose Some what earley and after being prepared for work Mrs M.V.Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal for the familey and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal all too my wife She eate her breakfast in her bed room by a warm Stove and after all were through and the table cared fat then the familey went to various kinds of work a bout the premises willey and his Sister Louese Leng went up in Town on buisness and Mrs M V Frownfelter walked a cross too her Daughters to do Some Sewing making Some garments for her children whilst Mary Frownfelter is doing the work a bout house and as too the writer he is engaged at recording the work done by the familey to day on the premises and the visets made to day by the familey and others being Saturday February the 5th AD 1915 and a beautiful day it is making three purty days in Succession the most that there has been winter up to date. Now the noon meal is being prepared by Miss Louese Leng my Grandaught to day in the absense of her mother and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table and portaken of our noon meal and when my (wife) eat her noon meal the eat it in her bed room by a warm fire and when all were through and the table cared far then the familey went to work a gain at a bout the Same work that they done before noon onley Willey he has obtained of Shot Small Shot and him and young Mr Jones are trying there hand in shooting there air guns for a lively hood to day but i do not think they killed a bird yet with the air gun. there guns as yet after so maney shotts as they have made today at noon nor do i beleave they will kill any. Tuesday February the 9th AD 1915- Opened up quite a nice cool morning bright and clear wind from the South west blowing cool and Strong Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning Registered at 42 Degrees tempature with a prospect of a nice day it was Some what a hazey day Some Streaks of clouds up to one oclock P.M. and had the appearance of continue So the balance of the day, The familey arose Some what Earley to day and after being prepared for work Mrs M.V.Frownfelter and her Daughter Mary went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal and when through and the table cared for then Willey and Mary Frownfelter proceeded too there School whilst ther Mother attended the house and other work about the premises and the writer as a gouger to assist her in her work up too half past Eleven oclock a m from which time the writer walked up too the post office after the mal if ther were any but after making inquirey i fond they were not any mail for the familey i then returned home and eat my dinner as it was served and placed on the table and announce readey to be eat after all were through and the table and contents cared far the children returned to School and the mother continued to do the work a bout the premises and the writer went to work and recorded the labor done by the familey up to too oclock P.M. of to day now as too my wife she has sit up some to day and bids fare of being some better as she has began to eat some more than she has been in habit of eating and is doing fairley well in her distress of sickness now at or near half past three Oclock this evening the writer taken a walk out west of Joshua some half a mile to where Mr Jones (lives) but after arriving at the place i found no one at home So i taken my time and walked the public road from Mr Joneses down to where the old public road come in from Mr Joneses down to where the old public road come in too the new public road from Joshua to Cleburn i then taken it and traveled untill it made a turn to go up in to Joshua i then cut across to G C Frownfelters place crossing the railroad where it connected too the frownfelters garden then on too the house after arriving at the place and resting for a bit i then went to work and finished my letter too Tom Stirling and wife that i had began to write before taking my walk and when through we done up the night Shores then eat our Evening meal Served by Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter and when through and the Suppertable and content cared far we then moved in too our bedroom for a rest and during of the time the writer finished recording the labors that was done by the familey to day and willey Frownfelter went with young white his School mate and after finishing up recording i too taken a rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the writer and familey to night Mr and Mrs W E Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelters Joshua Texas

Wednesday February the 10th AD 1915 Opened up quite a cloudey damp morning very cloudey with a mist of rain and wind quite high denoting a change of weather which i am Satisfied will be Soon Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning Registered at 36 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what earley this morning and when prepared for work Mrs.M.V. Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal and when through and the table and contents cared far then the children proceeded too there School and the older people remained at home too attend too the affares a round the premises but during of the time in the forenoon i walked up in too Joshua to See if i could get Some fresh meet of Some Kind for my wife but Soon after arriving at the buisiness part of the town i Soon found out that the market had no fresh meat on hand therefore i fail to get any i then turned in and purchased Some Oisters can up also Some flower crackers then returned home with a good bate for my wife but after arriving at home with my selection she was out of the notion for any of the king (anything) to eat So her Daughter Mrs M V Frownfelter prepared some soop for her dinner and she ate of it heartliey and in just a little our noon meal was announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our noon meal and after all were through and the dinner table and contents cared far then the children returned to School and Mrs M V.Frownfelter paid her Daughter Mrs Edney Kelley a viset near by and the writer remained at home with his invalid wife as She was not able to wait on her Self So i remained with her alday long an when late after noon we began doing up of the nights Schores Edna Kelley come too See us in the Evening and remained Some bit, and then left for her place of a bode then Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared the Evening meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the Suppertable then portaken of our evening meal Then the writer assisted William Kelly and young man that he had hiard (to) dig up some Permoody (Bermuda) grass in his garden as he was prepareing some ground to plant some garden seed such as irish potatoes and other seed in his garden and when through i returned too the house and finished recording of the labors of the day. now the South wind has blown equal too a Storm alday and has been quite cloudey but not enough to keep the Sun from Shining out untill late in the evening from which it become quite cloudey in the west and prevented the Sun from Shining and disappeared behind a cloud for the dark ness of the night to take it place now after taken our usual rest at night we departed too our bed or repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the writer and familey to night Mr and Mrs WE Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas I was mistaken in the Sun Setting it come out and Sit clear before passing a way

Friday February the 12th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cloudey damp morning Shower of rain the last past night light wind from the South west blowing nice and cool and damp Thermometer at or near Seven oclock A M this morning Registered at 45 Degrees tempature, The familey this morning a rose from there bed of repose quite Earley this morning and when prepared for work Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter went to work and prepared for making our breakfast this morning and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then protaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the breakfast table and contents all in good Shape a gain during of the time that Mrs M V Frownfelter was prepareing of the morning meal She had her son Willey picking up the old shingles that come off of her dwelling house and put them in her out house to keep dry but the Jones Kid come a long and he left his work and went with the boy so the work stoped write there with out any more cermoney he did not pick up any more just then he went of in the direction of his school then Mary his Sister prepared her Self and went to School whilst the rest of the familey remained at home to take care of the place and to prepare our regular meals for to day and to do other work a round the premises now the sand is blowing in several directions today making one part of the Earth rich and a nother poor therefore one can not calculate much on the land in this country he has to make a calculation on the wind as that appears to be the ruling substance it appears. seems as if your land is rich to day and the wind blows hard tomorrow your wealth lies on some other mans premises. Saturday February the 13th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cloudey but not So much so as to keep the Sun from Shining out nice and clear the elements Streaked with clouds but not So much So as to prevent the Sun from Shining out and giving a brilliant light on the earth as ther was a big rain fell here on the last past night but alright this morning in the way of clearing up and Settled down again wind from the west blowing Soft and cool Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning Registered at 50 Degrees tempature The familey a rose Some what earley this morning and after being prepared for buisiness Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter and her Daughter went to work then prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the table then portaken of our morning meal and all were through and the table and contents cared far then the familey all went to work all O K as it was Saturday Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter had a large days work layed off for them to do to day that they can not do in the week days So it come a round for the time to come for them to work and they went at it just write and the lady of the house She went too the wash tub and washed the familey wearing clothes whilst Willey Frownfelter and Mary Frownfelter done up the work a round the house and the writer went to work and recorded the work done on the premises to day and the condition of the health of the familey now as too my wife She appears to doing quite well to day and the balance of the familey appears to be alright to day but the writer he is not feeling the best in the world Now we had a too visetors to See us this morning Mrs Seals come over to Spend the day with the familey and Phone man come too See a bout the Phone as it did not opperate well and that is the way this one that is on this place are performing to day. and they kept buisiness going all day long clearing up and cleaning up untill it come time to eat our meal vituals which was prepared by Mrs M V Frownfelter and her Daughter Mary Frownfelter and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken noon meal and when through and the table and contents cared far we taken a Short rest then all went to work to cleaning up and Willey and one of his playmate dug up a large peach try (tree) by the roots be fore other work they done during of the evening and when time come to eat our evening meal Mrs M V Frownfelter prepare the eavening meal after being Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our evening meal and when through and the table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest then Virginia Frownfelter walked over too Mr Ewing to Set up with her Sick Daughter with the fever Willey Frownfelter accompanied his mother too Mr Ewings to Sit up with his married Daughter i do not know his daughter i do not know there names Strangers to me no acquaintand with them what ever and Willey Frownfelter returned home and Mary Frownfelter went too her Sisters Mrs Kelley to Stay alnight with her as She was a lone and the old folks remained at home and willey Frownfelter with the old people and after the writer had finished recording of our days labors i taken a Short rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good night rest to night rest to night is the desire of the writer and familey to night Mr and Mrs. M.V.Costley at Mrs G C and Mrs M V Frownfelter Joshua Texa

The familey arose Some what earley this morning and after getting prepared for work Miss Mary Frownfelter prepared the morning meal and when served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal all to Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter as She Sit up at Mrs Ewings on the last past night She was trying to Sleep Some She Sit up with Mrs Ewings Daughter married Daughter and My wife Mrs. M.V.Costley eat her breakfas in front of a warm Stove in her bed room, this morning as she too is a invalid and has been for years but better at times and when all were through that eat there morning meal Miss Mary Frownfelters went to work and put her breakfast table and content all in good Shape again then Willey Frownfelter and Sister Mary Frownfelter prepared them for Sunday School and went to School whilst the old people remained at home to take care of the place and prepared the the noon meal, as the writer put the beef on to cook by that time had taken her nap and had woke up from her Slumbering and a rose from her bed of repose and prepared her Self for buisiness, and assisted in prepareing of our noon meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the dinner table then portaken of our noon meal and when all the familey taken a rest as it were the Sabath day of our Lord AD 1915 a nice cool bright day onley one Streak of cloud to be Seen in the Elements and that is in the east pirfectley clear evry where else in the Elements at or near 12- oclock noon to day the first buds that i Seen this February it was on a couple of Pare trees in Mrs M V Frownfelter orchard in Joshua Texas it being February the 14 AD 1915 they were readey to leap out now as this is Such a bright day the ground hogs will come out and See them Selves and go back in too there den again and it will be six weeks before they will come out again now as my wife and the writer are all a lone this evening i will make out my dailey record of todays transactions The family with the exception of the old people are out a viseting of the sick as there appear to be a good deal of sickness in the neighborhood of first one kind and a nother and what of the children that is not a viseting is running around hunting of birds and other amusment all along the line of buisiness and at or near five oclock the croud come in home from there viset and amusments but just before they arrived William Kelley and wife and baby paid us a short viset and returned home then the familey returned to work to doing up ther night Schores and when througn they then went to work and prepared the evening meal and when Served and placed on the table and annoucned readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal and when through and the table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest then Mrs Frownfelter and Daughter Mary went to church and Willey her Son remained at home to read his Storey book and the writer to recording was done on the premises to day and when through the writer wrote Some more on a letter that i was writen to J B Nicholes of Crawford Texas and when through we then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights to night rest is the desire of the whole familey to night Mr and Mrs WE Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Monday February the 15th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cloudey cold morning wind blowing cold from the north Thermometer at or near Seven oclock A M of to day Registered at 34 Degrees tempature with a good prospect of colder weather, The familey the most of them rosse tolerable earley this morning and when prepared for buisiness Miss Mary Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal as her mother was not very well and after getting of it Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat my wife eat her noon meal in front of a warm Stove the balance of the familey eat at the breakfast table and after the familey was through Willey Frownfelter and his Sister Mary prepared them Selves and went to School and by that time Mrs Frownfelter had arose from her bed of repose and She then went to work and put the breakfast table and contents all i good Shape again about that time the writer walked to the post office to pick up the mail and mail a letter and to get some iodine for my wife to blister her side as she had a severe pain in her side. i then returned home with the medison and in a Short while Mrs Hunter of Joshua and too of her children viseted Mrs M V Frownfelter our Daughter and Spent the day with the familey and about that time the writer walked down in too Mr Kellers farm to where they were plowing and to see how they were getting a long as there were too young men plowing and the old man Keller was hoeing the grass from among the Black burrie vines and triming of the vines, and after remaining for a while and seeing that they were getting along nicely i then returned home to take a rest and in a Short while our noon meal come on to be eat and after being Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down too the dinner table the portaken of our noon meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we all moved in too our bed room by a warm fire then taken arest for Some bit then the woman to went to work again, after getting rested up i taken my walking stick then started out for a good walk and started traveling west untill i come too old man Eddlemans too where i struck the Joshua and Cleburne road i then travailed South some quarter of a mile to where the road turnes west again there i turned out of the road too the left to Mr Potter and pass through his place and come a cross Mr Potter at his barn as he had been down in his farm on the buffalo creek where he was trying to do some plowing but he said it was too wet to do any good there fore he had too with draw from the place where he was plowing and go too higher ground to have any work to do. After conversing with him for some bit i continued on my course South through his farm untill i struck the railroad after coming too the Santafe runing to Cleburne i then taken the north end of the Santafe railroad i returned back too Joshua the place i started from taking a considerable walk for the first time since before Christmas and i had become short winded from clost confinement after arriving back at my daughters Mrs. M.V. Frownfelter i taken a rest for i were neading of it after resting for a bit i then recorded the a bove discribing of my trip a bout that time Mrs Hunter and her children left for her home and then the familey went to work to do up the nights Schores whilst Mrs M V Frownfelter prepared the evening meal and when Served and placed on the and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves down too the table and portaken of our evening meal and when all were through, and the table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good night rest is the desire of the familey Mr and Mrs W E Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Tuesday February the 16th AD 1915- Opened up quite a wind from the South east blowing Thermometer at or near Seven oclock Registered at 42 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what cool this morning when prepared for work Mrs M.V.Frownfelter and her Daughter Mary went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of there morning meal and when all were through and the breakfast table cared far the table and contents cared by M V Frownfelter and when through the children proceded too there School whilst the old folks remained at home to do the work a round the premises and at or near nine oclock Mrs. Barrett came to spent the day with the familey then the time come a round to prepare the noon meal Mrs M.V.Frownfelter wen to work and prepared our noon meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our noon meal and when through and the table and content cared for we then taken a Short rest then went to work again at what ever was to be done on the premises and as too the writer he was buisey walking and roud (around) the premises and once and while come in doors and Spent Some of my time in reading and writing and other work to be done on the premises and other things that was to be done in and around the premises and when, our noon meal come on to be eat we Seated our Selve too the table and portaken of our noon meal and when through with our noon meal and the noon table cared for we then taken a Short rest then the children returned too School whilst the woman went to there crotcheting with ther needlework whilst that was the order of the day all over the country with the woman now after eating of our dinner having Mr and Mrs Barrot and daughter dine with the familey So Soon as we were with our meal Mr Barrett left for Mr McMillons to work on his house and shortly after the writer taken a walk over there they were at work and after arriving at the place i taken a rest then and taken a rest and watch the carpenters at work and when i had seen all that i wanted to i then taken a walk east from his place across his farm in too a nother san bed of a farm still ast i then from that farm turned North wes(t) i travailed a cross farms untill i Struck the public road i then traveled west untill i come to Joshua Stopping at or near the inturuban Station there i taken a considerable rest for i was Shurley tiard from my walk through the Sand all through the evening after resting i made it over too Joshua and taken a long rest at Kelley and Brother Store and from that place i made it home traveling to the South end of Joshua and there at home i taken a long rest and when rested i then Seated my Self at my writing table and recorded my travels that i taken this even and during the time i was at work Virginia Frownfelter and the children were cleaning off the yard and when through Miss Mary frownfelter prepared the Evening meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal and when all were through and the table and content cared far we then moved in too our bed room for a Short rest i then finished recording of our days labor and after getting through we Still continued to rest a bit then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the writer and familey to night Mr and Mrs W E Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Forwnfelter Joshua Texas

Wednesday February the 17th AD 1919 ( 1915) - Opened up quite a cloudey damp cool morning wind from the South blowing quite raw from the South looking very much in appearance rain or a norther Soon Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning Registered at 42 Degrees tempature The familey all too the old people arose quite earley this morning and when prepared for buisiness Mrs M V Frownfelter and Daughter Mary went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through Willey and his Sister Mary Frownfelter returned too there School whilst Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and put her breakfast table and contents kitchen and dining room all in good Shape again then went too her house whole work a gain whilst the writer walked up too the post office for the male for the familey and other articles that was neaded in the familey after purchasing what i went after i then returned home but got no mail after arriving at home i then taken a warm as the wind was damp and cool from the South and when warm i recorded the above transaction of the day up too Eleven oclock of to day and Still heavey clouds Shuts out the Sun at or near half past eleven oclock this morning Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter went to work and prepared the noon meal and after getting of it Served and placed on the table then annoucned readey to be eat we Seated Selves too the dinner table and eat our noon meal after all were through with there meals Willey and his Sister Mary Frownfelter returned too there School and Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and put the dinner table an contents all in good Shape a gain then wen too her domestic work a gain, and folowed it up untill late in the evening and when the children returned from School there mother put them to work at clearing of the garden preparing it for the plow as the time is a coming to prepare to garden as inglish peas and irish potatoes should be in the ground and other varieties should be in the ground to get a good start with the season to raise full matured garden vegetables as some garden vegetables it takes them a while to mature Such as beets cabages and sweet potatoes and maney kind of vegetables so the children worked up till time to do up the night schores then went to work at that work and finished up there job we then eat our evening meal prepared by Miss Mary Frownfelter and when Served and placed on the table we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our evening meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we then moved in too our bed room for a Short rest and at our proper time come a round for to retire too our bed of repose we then went too our bed of Slumber hoping for all man and woman kind to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer Mr and Mrs W.E.Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Thursday February the 18th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cool cloudey morning some what cloudey from the fact it rained on the last past night and driping rain Somewhat but not to Say a Shower of rain wind from the South west blowing cool The familey arose Some what late this morning and when prepared for work Mrs M.V. Frownfelter and Daughter Mary went to work and prepared the morning meal and after getting Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the table cared far then Willey and his Sister proceeded too there School whilst the old people remained at home to take care of the place and do the work that was to be done and too previde our meals through the day at there regular time and So by doing we did very well all a long the line through the day. but keeps cloudey and drearry all the most of the day Mrs Edna Kelley and her baby paid her mother a viset today and spent the greater part of the day with the familey as she was lonely at home and wanted to be with her mother so all could take it time about nursing the boy (Keith) as it takes a bout fore hands to nurse him as he is so figetty wants to be going all the time at or near twelve oclock noon to day it grew very cloudey as thought it might turn in to raining again and i expect it will do So and in all probability come a nother for it represents a norther very much at present it in all probability would and advantage to the fruit crop to come a cold Spell to keep the crop from putting out too Soon as it has alreadey began to put and the sap is rising quite fast at present and the cold wind Still very cold and damp now at or near three oclock PM the writer walked up too the postoffice to mail a letter too Mr M V Cordel of Crawford Texas and when i returned School had just turned out and when Willey and Mary Frownfelter returned from School they went to burning some brush that they had in her garden cleaning it up So they could garden as they wanted too begin write a way and after getting the brush burned they the done up ther nights Schores and when through we then eat our evening meal and when throug and the table and contents cared far we then moved in too our bed room far a Short rest and in a few minutes Mrs M V Frownfelter come in home from her daughters and reported her Daughter that She had just gone home with as she had just spent the day with her Mrs William Kelley Baby had the croop very Severe and that they had Phoned for Doctor Towns to come to See and Doctor it and have not heard from it Since can not Say how it is at this writing now during of my rest Spell i finished recording of the labors and transaction of what has been doing alday as the prim part of the day has been Served by Mrs M.V.Frownfelter at the Sewing machine making her a garment to wear and my wife has been buisey taken care of her Self as She would Sit up a while then ly down a bit to rest her Self as She has been Sick for Some bit and just getting up from a long Spell of Sickness of a bout three week or more that She has been down bed fast from a Severe fever and caugh and is just getting up out of her Spell now as we are a bout through with our work and rest we will retire too our bed of rest wishing evry person on earth a peaceful and quiet rest is the desire of the writer and the familey to night Mr and Mrs W E Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Friday February the 19th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cloudey cool disagreeable morning wind from the north blowing cold and disagreable Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning Registered at 46 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what earley and after being prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter and Daughter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announce readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far then Willey and his Sister Mary went too School and Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter walked acros the Street in Joshua too See her Sick grand child whilst the writer taken a trip too the Drug Store for Some anti Progestin for my wife and to get the mail for the familey after obtaining of the whole i walked in too Keller and brother Store for a warm as it was Some what cool after obtaining a warm i returned home with my package, after arriving at home i recorded the labors of the day up too Eleven oclock A.M. of today, from which time Mrs Frownfelter went too work and prepared the noon meal and after getting of it Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table and portaken of our mornning meal and when all were through and the dinner table and contents cared far then children proceeded too there School again I spoke on the opposite Side of the that the children returned too there School a gain but Willey Frownfelter never got to come to come too his dinner as he had a fight in school and had to keep in at noon to be punished for braking the rules of school and at or near too o clock the writer walked up too the Denton Colage to let Willey Frownfelter know that his mother was wanting him to go out to rock creek school house for Louese Leng to bring her home as She was teaching School at that place and arrived at home at or near five oclock this evening and then Willey Frownfelter taken the horse and buggy home and returned home we had the night Schores done up and Miss Mary Frownfelter prepared the evening meal for the familey and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the table then portaken of our evening meal and when through and the Suppertable and contents cared for we then moved in too our bed room then taken a Short rest the writer then finished recording of our days labors as Louese returned home this evening from her School and we then taken our usual rest then departed too our bed or repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey to night Mr and Mrs W.E.Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Saturday February the 20th AD 1915- Opened up quite a wet dreary morning as it rained in the latter part of the last past night and just in the act of raining at this writing being at or near 8- oclock in the fore noon of to day wind from the South East Thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning registered at 50 Degrees tempature The familey a rose Some what late this morning but when prepared for work Misses Louese Leng and Mary frownfelter went to work then prepared the morning meal as Louese Leng is at home to day and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our morning meal and when through and the breakfast table and contents cared far then the woman went to work and put there bedrooms in good Shape again whilst the writer went to work and recorded what labor had been done by the familey this morning up too eleven oclock a m of to day the writer then walked up to the post office for the mail but when i went there was nothing but a paper the waco Herald so that wound up the amount of mail that come to the familey this morning out of so maney letters wrote this week to different ones by the familey and not one answered in all probability some news will come by letter tonight is not come any to day now as Miss Mary Frownfelter has prepared our noon meal and placed it on the table and announced it readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the noon table and portaken of our noon meal and when through and the table cared far then the woman went too there dory? labors at there house work Such as ironing Sewing and numerous work about the premises and just after we had finished our noon meal there was a card presented too the land Lady Mrs.M.V.Frownfelter by too young Ladies of Joshua read thus wise you are invited to a George and Martha Reception at the Residence of Mr and Mrs H W Renfroe given by Babtist Ladies aid February 22, from 7:30 to 10,30 Birthday offering A debt on our church we are Soon going to make To help us to lift it we now invite your aid, So put in the bag that we Send to you Some pennies or nickels or dimes will do. Sunday Febuary the 21st AD 1915- Opened up quite a nice clear morning the Sun rose bright and nice wind Some what from the north blowing Some what cool Thermometer near 8- oclock A M Registered at 46 Degrees tempature The familey arose Some what earley this morning and after getting Mrs Frownfelter off to Brownwood as that She was going too that town to day to See her Husband on and will not be back for Several days to come and Started at or near half past Six of clock oclock a m of to day then Misses Louese Leng and Mary Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table we then eat our morning meal, and when all were through and the table cared far then the writer then walked up too the post office to mail a letter too Miss Ada Costley at Waco but the mail was Sent too the Depot and i had to take it too the Depot to get it off on the train and i made it alright Side up with care i did not get any mail this morning as there was not any for the familey to day therefore i returned empty and when i returned home Louese Leng and Willey Frownfelter and Sister Mary went too Sunday School as they are regular Schollars in Chool and had to go or the Schore would not prosper were well for the more Schollars the prosperous the School is and it takes a great many Schollars to keep up interesting School all a round now at or near 12- Oclock to day we eat our dinner and when through and the dinner table and contents was cared far by Miss Mary Frownfelter, then Louese Leng prepared her Self to go too her School districk on rock creek too her boarding house to be readey to take up her School to morrow morning Willey her half brother taken her out too her boarding house in a buggy they was from Mrs Edwards of Joshua Texas, and Mary Frownfelter viseted her Sister clost by Mrs Edna Kelley, of Joshua Texas, and the old people were left all a lone to paddle there own canoe all a Shore and Still it is a bright day clear a Schristal (crystal) with a light breese from the north blowing this Evening and Still evry thing goes on Smoothley as though as the rain never fell on Friday night February the 19 AD 1915 now as the day passed a way it become lovlier and lovlier all a long the line a Shure nice Spring day as ever any person ever Seen in life but now let me tell you at or near three oclock PM the Elements was covered with a thick coat of clouds and remained So the balance of the evening and the Sun went down in darkness after being Such a beautiful day up too the time mention a bove, and at or near 6- oclock we eat our evening meal prepared by Miss Mary Frownfelter and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the Suppertable then portaken of our evening meal and when all were through and the Suppertable and contents cared far we then moved in too our bed room for a Short rest and when through with our rest we departed to our bed or repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night to night is the desire of the familey to night Mr and Mrs W.E.Costley at Mr and Mrs G.C. Monday February the 22th AD 1915 Opened up quite a dreary morning as there were a heavey Electric Storm a raiging from the South with a heavey rain up till 8- oclock this morning from which the wind changed too the north west and blew quite Strong but Seemed to clear up as the clouds began to give way and Scatter a way Thermometer at or near 8- oclock AM of to day Registered at 52 Degrees tempature The familey a rose Some what earley this morning and when prepared for work Miss Mary Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table and portaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we then all pitched in too our dailey work Willey and Mary Frownfelter prepared them Selves for School and went to School whilst the writer attended to putting the bed rooms in good Shape again then whiled the day i reading of the papers to find out what the news was and to learn all we could about the ways of the world in general at or near ten oclock Edna Kelley come to her mothers place to Phone to her Husband on buisiness i do not know what it was and reported her baby better this morning as it was quite Sick the last past night So much So they had to call in doctor Towns before they could releave it, but much better this morning now the report from the Schools to day that there will be no School this after noon as it were General George Washingtons birth day February the 22th AD 1915- a noted day in the State of Texas fought by a brave intergettie man who faugh manfully for his country and freedom of his nation Now at or near half past 12- oclock Pm in the after noon of to day Miss Mary Frownfelter began her noon dinner after coming from School and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey too be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken or (of) our noon meal and when all were through and the dinner table and contents cared far we then continued to rest as it was too wet and damp to be out of doors to go a bout much from the rain that fell on the last past night and Earley this morning but at this writing being ten minutes of one oclock P.M. of to day it is pirfectley clear with the exception of a Streak of cloud lying low down in the eas(t) rather the nature of a white milkey cloud other wise the Sky is pirfectley blue with being clear and bright. as the Excitement is up in regard to division of the State of Texas i for one are a gainst all Such a division and not one in habitant of the Old State Should just let her Stand to what She is at her deaths blows that was cast a gainst her in days past and gone to obtain her liberty a gainst the meicans and indians and others that taken a hand against the a meican people who were working to gain victory over the grand old State of texas to take the advantage of the old herows that had faught bled and died and not onley Sacrifiesed there families for the Sole purpose of having a grand and rich fertile country to live in with all its weath and pleasure attached to it would be a horrible Shame for any Set of people to make Such introussion up on as noble a people as faught for the write of Texas and then others that has come in from a far off and demand a division of the state they have no wrte to do such a thing what ever and i am not of the opinion that the orthorities will admit of such an arangment to be afford too the people to be voted on i for one would vote against it at all hasards and maney others would follow now at or near too oclock Mary Frownfelter taken a trip out in Town for Subscribers to a paper that She was getting and was not out no great while untill She returned and Said that She had completed the job and was readey to Send for the paper then the writer taken a trip over to William Kelley to See how his baby was getting along after arriving at the place i found that he was much better after remaining for a while i then walked up in too Joshua to mail a letter to E E Mulican and wife and when i mailed it i then returned home and began to write a letter to aquila and wife as i has wrote one and had lost it and have to write a nother one in its stead and as the approach of night we done up the night Schores then eat our evening meal prepared by Mary Frownfelter and when through and the table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desure of the familey and writer Mr and Mrs W.E.Costley at Mrs and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua

Tuesday February the 23dh AD 1915- Opened up quite a cold clear morning wind from the North blowing brisk and cold Thermometer at or near Seven oclock Registered at 40 Degrees tempature The familey a rose Some what late this morning and when prepared for work Miss Mary Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of the morning meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far then Willey and Mary Frownfelter proceeed too there School and the old man and old Lady Costley was left alone to take care of the premises and to put the bed rooms in good Shape a gain and during of the time, the writer wrote a letter to Mr and Mrs Aquilla Swindle at Crawford Texas and also recorded the labor done on the premises up to 12- oclock noon to day and when the noon meal was Served and placed on the table we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our noon meal and when all are through and the dinner table cared far then the children returned to School a gain, and the old folks remained Sted fast at home to take care of the premises and to do the Schores a round the premises tnat were to do and too keep evry thing Strate about the premises and at or near too oclock the writer walked up too the post office for the mail and to order some grub and after obtaining what i went after i then started to look at a new brick building just erected in Joshua and come across my old friend blair and had a chat with him for some bit then returned too the new building and watched the work man put the roof on and in a short time returned home to See a bout my invalid wife and to renew the fire when neaded and when it come time to do up the nights Schores the writer went to work and completed evry thing that was to be done out Side whilst Willey Frownfelter was out on the Railroad near by picking up Some wheat where a box car had bursted and run the grain out on the ground and waste and Miss Mary Frownfelter was prepareing of the evening meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the Suppertable then portaken of our Evening meal and when all were through and the Supper table and contents cared far then Willey Frownfelter went back too the road in companey with the old man Jones Boys to pick up more of the grain whilst Sister that is Miss Mary Frownfelter walked down too her Sisters to See how her Baby were as it is Sick and has been for Some bit and the old people remained at home too take care of the place and too old to be out at night and after the writer finished recording of the labors done by the familey to day then taken of a Short rest we departed too our bed or repose hoping too get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey to nights Mr WE Costley and wife M Costley at Mr and Mrs. G.C Frownfelters This has been a nice clear day all through up too bed time to night being nine oclock PM

Wednesday February the 24th AD 1915- Opened up quite a bright clear morning but quite cool wind from the Thermometer at or near Seven oclock AM of to day at 32 Degrees tempature The familey a rose quite Earley this morning and when prepared for work the children Willey and Sister Miss Mary Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through with our morning meal and the Breakfast table and contents cared far then Willey and Mary Frownfelter his Sister went to School and the old people remained at home to take care if the place and to keep evry thing going just right in the familey absence from home but before Willey frownfelter went to School he went too the post office for the mail and brought our mail down home bringing the old people fore letters from he brought a letter from my Son Ed Costley a letter from my wifes Sister , Mrs Betty harvey, E C Mulican and Mr M V Cardle making 4 letters at one time Received on the morning of February the 24th 1915 now at or near Eleven oclock Miss Mary Frownfelter and one of her School mates returned from School and prepared the noon meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves at the table then eat our noon meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far then the girls returned to School whilst the writer and his wife Still remained in doors to take care of the place, but at or near three oclock the writer walked up in Town to purchase Some matchers as the house was with out (of) them This has So far has been a beautiful day but Some what cool at too oclock in this after noon as the wind is from the north blowing quite brisk now at half past too oclock this evening it very much like it did on yestarday evening it clouded up and prevented the Sun from coming out at times and then would Spring fourt (forth) and come out a gain and kept it up through the evening The writer taken a trip up in to Joshua this evening for Some matches as they were all gone after returning home i then under taken to make a fire in the cole stove and let me tell you write now it was a job for i know any thing about firing up a coal stove and it was a job for me to make the fire started as it was entirley out and had to start from the stump and it was a difficult job for the writer and at or near five oclock P.M. the writer done up the night Schores, and Miss Mary Frownfelter went to work and prepared our evevening meal and after getting of it Served and placed on the table and announce readey to be we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal and when all was through and the table cared far we then moved in too our bed room for a Short rest and after taken our rest we then departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good night rest to night is the desire of the familey to night WE Costley and wife M.V.Costley at Mr and Mrs M.V.Frownfelter Virginia Frownfelter returned home from Brownwood at or near five oclock PM of to day and Mrs Keller come to See my wife this evening being February the 24th AD 1915

Thursday February the 25th AD 1915 Opened up quite a smokey dark looking Elements Smokey appearance Some Streeks of clouds the Sun Shines cold wind from the North East Thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning registered at 46 Degrees tempature The familey arose some what earley this morning and when prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter and daughter Mary went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal and when through and the breakfast table and contents cared far then Willey Frownfelter and Sister went to School and ther mother done up the house work and other work to be done a round the premises whilst the old folks was laying a round doing nothing onley killing time and that is the way that evry thing is going on a round these premises just a few doing the work but at or near Eleven oclock A M Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared our noon meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the dinning table then protaken of our noon meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far we then taken a Short rest then M V Frownfelter Mrs went to work in her yard to prepare some ground to plant out some shrubry and when the writer got good rested i too went out in too the yard and went to work and remove some soil where there were and embankment made by the wind blowing the sand in a pile and spaded it up and filled in on the South side of the house to keep the water from under the house as the water from the yard goes under house when it rains and after working untill i become tiard about that time Willey Frownfelter came from school and i gave the job up to him and i walked across the street too Mr Keller to see his boy plow out his black burries and dewbery patch after they finished i then returned home to rest a bit as i have not done anything for a year to amount too anything but should i live from this time on i must try to work some to harden my flesh and make my wind stronger than what i am So willey Frownfelter went to work with his wheelborrow then he could put the dirt too the place a great deal faster than i could with the shovel and after resting for a bit i then went to work to have a piece of a roe of onion that Virginia Frownfelter had left when she was hoeing in the onions also to hoe out some young Black burry vines that the weeds was coming up a round then and when through i done up the night Schored whilst Mary Frownfelter prepared the Evening meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our Evening meal and when through and the Supper table and contents cared far we moved in too our bed room for our usual rest and when through we departed too our bed of repose all wishing for a good nights rest to night W E Costley and wife M V Costley at Mr and Mrs G. Friday February the 26th AD 1915- Opened up quite a dark gloomey morning very cloudey with a Sprincle of rain falling occasioniley wind from the South Thermometer at or near Seven oclock Registered at 46 Degrees tempature The familey arose quite Earley this morning and when prepared for work Mrs. M.V. Frownfelter and Daughter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal and when through and the breakfast table and contents cared far then Willie Frownfelter and Sister Mary proceeded too there School and the older folks remained at home to do what could be done around the premises during the day and by the by we were kept quite buisey during the day keeping things Strait all a long the line as the regular meals was to be furnished through out the day and other work to comply with which Kept all hands buisey through out the day my wife is Still on the improvement in her health as She Slept well the last past nigh and eat heartily this morning and Still continues to go all the Same as though nothing had happened what ever now as the day passes a way it does not improve any as it Still remaines cloudey damp and drearry and no Sun Shine what ever and a cold mist of rain occasionley with a very disagreeable South wind blowing cold and brisk all the time reguarly with no Signe of Sunshine what ever up too Eleven oclock a.m. of to day with a good prospect of a bad Spell of weather to continue to come now the day is passing away fast now too oclock P.M. and the dark cloudey weather continues with increase flow of rain Now at or near 12- oclcock P.M. we eat our noon meal prepared by Mrs M.V.Frownfelter and after being Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the dinner table then portaken of our noon meal Miss mary frownfelter did not come to dinner with her Brother i expect She was Kept in to day and after we eat our noon meal Mrs M V Frownfelter taken care of the dinner table and contents and when through and the kitchen and dining room cared for we then went to work peas on her quilt a gain and went to work Sterdily up too the time of previding the Evening meal and when Served and placed on the table announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal and when through and the table and content cared fat we moved in too our bed room for a Short rest we then departed too our bed or repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey to night is the desire of the familey to night WE and Mrs M V Costley at Mr and Mrs M.V. Saturday the 27th AD 1915- Opened up a very cloudey day So much the Sun has not come out during the day up too this writing being 4- oclock in the after noon of to day very dark all day wind from the N.W. blowind (g) mild Thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning Registered at 46 Degrees tempature The familey arose quite Earley this morning and after being prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter and Manary (Mary) Frownfelter her daughter went work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the table cared far then the familey of the place went to work a round the premises Willilliam (William) Frownfelter went to work at his yard to fill in more dirt that had blown our of the yard and other work a round the premises whilst mary his Sister was engaged at Sewing on the Sewing machine making of a garment for her Self and her mother was engaged at pieceing up a quilt for her Self and my wife was engaged at reading of the Waco herald a paper a paper printed in the city of Waco Texas and as too the writer i was engaged at writing a letter too Mr Aquilla Swindle and wife at Crawford Texas and mailing the Same and when i returned from Mailing of my letter and working on a pigpen to keep some piggs in the pen I then went to work to record what had been doing all through the day to day an when through we done up the night Schores and when through and when through we then eat our evening meal that was prepared for the familey by Mrs. M.V. Frownfelter and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our Evening meal and when through and the table cared far we then moved in too our bed room for a Short rest and when readey to go to our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer W E And M V Costley at Mr G C and Mrs M V Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Sunday February the 28th day and the last day of Said month 1915 being quite a quite a cloudey cold morning wind from the North blowing brisk and cold Thermometer at or near nine oclock Registered at 34 Degrees temparure turning cold fast The familey arose Some what late this morning and after being prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter and Daughter Mary Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal and when the familey was through with there morning meal and the breakfast table and contents cared far then william Frownfelter and Sister Mary Frownfelter went too there Sunday School and to chuch i judge as there are going too be both too day as this is the regular day for preaching and as the weather is So cold the old folks remained in doors out of the cold clost too the fire in order not to Ketch cold, as ther is So much Sickness in and around Joshua Texas, now after the bed rooms were all put in good Shape the old peope then taken there Sabbath days rest as it is a rest day with all Humane people and all beast of the feell (field) and fowls of the air and dumb beast of all discription at or near 12- Oclock Mrs M V Frownfelter had our noon meal Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our noon meal and when all were through and the noon table and contents cared for we all moved in too our bed room by a warm fire as it was Now Sunday School has adjourne and the children has returned from the also went meeting after the Sunday School adjourned and Still the cold disagreeable north wind continues to blow and no Signe of it changing what ever Still dark and gloomey but So far it has not rained at Joshua Texas it appears from the movement of the weather that it will not clear of some as the weather proft predicts Several days a head for Severe weather and i partley beleave it from the Start it has taken Since yestarday it has been gradually been turning colder ever Since untill got to be freezing and still driving a head as though that not anything had happened what ever Now we have eat our noon meal prepared by Mrs M V Frownfelter and daughter Miss Mary Frownfelter and when all were through and the table cared far we then moved in too our bed room by a good warm fire and continued our rest the remainder of the day untill time to do up or evening Shores then we wet to work then we wet to work apart of the work that was to do whilst the wom(an) folks prepared the evening meal and by the time we were through with our work ther woman had the evening meal Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we then Seated our selves too the table then eat our evening meal and when the familey was through and the Suppertable and contents all cared far we then moved in too our bedroom for a Short rest then departed too our bed oppose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the writer and familey to night and Still the last day of February went out Similar too a roaring lion with good prospects of rain or Snow before the first day of march comes in from the looks of evry thing at this writing just half past three oclock in the afternoon of to day February AD 1915. at or near 5-oclock in the after noon of to day the widow Kelley called in to See the familey but did not Stay but a Short while untill She left too her place of a bode Now February has passed a way with a heavey norther blowing and a very dark day and very cloudey all the way through and has been the cast all the way through the month WE Costley and wife M.V.Costley at G C and Mrs m V.Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Monday March the 1st AD 195 - Opened up quite a cloudey damp cold day So much So as to prevent the Sun from Shining out remains under a cover of thick foliage of heavey clouds wind from the north east blowing as cold as a Norther a very raw wind Thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning registered at 30 Degrees tempature the familey a rose Some what late this morning and after getting prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter and her Daughter Miss Mary Frownfelter went to work then prepared the morning meal for the familey and when Served and placed on the table and then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the table and portaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far then Will and Miss Mary Frownfelter lef(t) there home for there School room and there mother went to work and put her bed rooms all in good Shape and other work to be done a round the premises and when the time come a round to prepare our noon meal She went to work and prepared the Same and when Served and placed on the table by this time the children had returned from School we then Seated our Selves too the dinner table and portaken of there noon meal and when all were through and the table and content cared far the children then returned to School and Mrs M.V.Frownfelter went to work at her domesti(c) work again whilst the old folks was laying a round killing time and recording the labor done on the place by each one of the familey, today the writer gets buisey evry once a while when the fire gives out to renew it a gain in order to keep warm now at or near too oclock this evening is the first time it has Shown it Self in a bout too day and it comes and goes and Shines out once and a while for a few minutes at a time bids fare to give Some better weather than what we have been having for the last few days now as the day has about passed a way we will do up our nights Schore then eat our evening meal then take our usual rest and retire too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night W.E.and Mrs M.V.Costley at Mr G. Tuesday March the 2th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cloudey morning very dark and dreary Still continue dark and dreary with rain once and a while just enough to keep the farmer out of the field and to eat up all he has made for his living and his Stock with out a chance to previde for any more to prepare his land for another crop for 1915- but however the wind has mad(e) a change Since yestarday and has Sprung too the South east and blowing as cold as when it was in the north Thermometer at 8- oclock this morning Registered at 32 Degrees tempature. The familey arose Some what late this morning and when prepared for work they then prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the breakfast table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through Willey Frownfelter and young Mr White prepared Some wood for the Stove to burn through the day and when through they then prepared for School and went to School and his Sister Mary with them whilst there Mother went to work and put the breakfast table and contents all in good Shape a gain whilst the writer was doing other work and when through and Seated our Selves down by a warm Stove to warm about that time Miss Barret Stoped off in her rout See her relatives to See how the old people were getting a long but made a Short viset of it untill She passed on too where She is able to go at her relatives just out on the edge of Town to Spent the day with her relatives over on the west Side of the railroad and at or near that time the writer walked down too william Kelleys to See now my Grandaughter and Baby were and from that place i walked up into Joshua to get the mail and received too letters one from Mrs Mattie Costley and her Daughter Miss Valeta Costley of Hamelton county Texas and at or near 12- oclock noon to day we eat our noon meal prepared by Mrs.M.V. Frownfelter of Joshua Texas and when Served and placed on the table then portaken of our noon meal the children returned too there School again whilst there mother went to work and put the dinner table and contents all in good Shape again when through She then went to her domestic work a gain and other work that was to be done around the premises to day and Still the unpleasant weather goes on as though nothing had happened whatever Still it continues to rain to night evry thing has been housed up to day on account of rain but being a bout rain now evry one has been buisey to day but have kiept them Selves indoors doing in doors work, Such as Sewing reading and writing letters and keeping the record of what has been done on the premises to day and when the children returned from Schildren returned from School Willey Frownfelter prepared wood to burn and brought it in doors to burn and Mary Frowfelter prepare the Evening meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the Suppertable then eat our evening meal and when through and the table and contents cared far we then moved in too our bed room by the fire and then Mrs M V Frownfelter walk down too her daughter Mrs Will Kelley and baby ( Edna & Keith) just a Short way of and the balance of the familey remained at home to take there rest as Miss Mary Frownfelter had company to night Miss White near Joshua Texas and after our usual rest and as the weather was Still Severe raining from the South east and the wind quite Strong from the Same direction of the rain now as all are through and the rest taken we will depart too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the whole familey to night WE and Mrs M V Costley at Mr and M V Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Wednesday March the 3dh AD 1915- Opened up qu(ite) a cloudey drearry morning raining write a head up too at or near nine oclock to day February (March) the 3dh AD 1915 from which the Sun Shone out for the first time in 48 hours or more and closed up Soon a gain but had the appearance of blowing off there has been a great deal of water to fall on the earth in the last 48 hours the Earth is Shurley wet and givey now the rain and wind is from the South East this morning the thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning registered at 44 Degrees tempature The familey a rose Some what late this morning and when prepared for work Mrs. M.V. Frownfelter and Daughter Mary Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then eat our morning meal and when all were through and the breakfast table and contents cared far, then the children went to School whilst the older people remained at home as there mother was buisiley engaged Sewing making garments for the familey and too prepare the usual amount of vituals for the familey that She is accustom at furnishing evry day three meal and when the noon meal was to be Served She had it Served in due time for the children when they returned from School and when Served and placed on the table and annnounced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our noon meal and when the familey was through the children returned to School and there mother Mrs M V Frownfelter taken care of the dinner table and contents and put evry thing in good condition a gain then went to work Sewing a gain making garments for the familey to ware whilst the old folks were on hands a killing of time as usual my wife is not So well as She was on yestarday She is in bed to day not feeling So very well as She has been feeling here too fore but the writer So far up in the day is doing quite well for one of my age going on 83 years old Since the 25 of December 1914 now at or near 12-oclock noon to day we eat our noon meal Served by Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter and when placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Self too the table then portaken of our evening meal and when through and the table and contents cared far then willey Frownfelter done up the night Schores and when through and a good warm fire and when the preper time come to go to bed we departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest is the desire of the familey to night W.E.and Mrs. M.V.Costley at Mr G C and M V Frownfelters Joshua Texas Miss Mary Frownfelter come home from School this evening Sick with chill on her

Thursday March the 4th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cool disagreeable morning cloudey and damp wind from the north very unfavorable this morning no Sign of clearing off Thermometer at or near Seven oclock registered at 44 Degrees tempature The familey a rose Some what late this morning and after being prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and after getting of it Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through Willey went too the post office for the male and transacted Some buisiness for his mother then returned home and prepared him Self and went to S(c)hool whilst his mother taken care of the breakfast table and put evry thing a bout the house in good Shape a gain then preceeded too her chrtcheting (crotcheting) work a gain and continued at that up too the time of prepareing the noon meal from which She went to work and prepared the noon meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey too be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our noon meal and when through and the contents cared far then George William Frownfelter went to School again and his mother to doing Some washing for Edna Kelley her Daughter but first She Sued (Sewed) Some buttons on my pants before She began her work then the writer taken a note of what had been done on the premises to day my wife in the fore noon was buisey reading of the waco Herald a paper that was printed in the city of waco Texas whilst Mary Frownfelter was in the bed Sick Suffering from Lagripp just taken yestarday but better to day She has has Some fever to day but light So far The writer walked up to the postoffice to get my mail as i had a registered letter in the office and had to go my Self to get it out it had $30.00 Dollars in it from E D Costley of waco and i deposeted in the Joshua bank the Same day i received it but taken out five dollas too defray expences which left $25.oo twenty five Dollars Still rema(in)ing in the bank on the 4th day of March 1915 I then returned home and my wife and the writer red the letter from Ed Costley at Waco Texas and after getting through i then hope to do up the night Schores whilst Mrs M.V.Frownfelter provided our Evening meal and Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our too the table then eat our evening meal and when throug and the Suppertable and contents cared far the familey taken a rest whilst the writer answered E D Costleys letter in regare to the money just received and the condition of the familey and the health of the town and when through and we had finis(hed) our rest we departed too our bed of repose leaving a cold cloudey day behind us Mr and Mrs W.E. Friday March the 5th AD 1915- Opened up bright and clear but cold wind in the South blowing as cold as a norther but Soon grew cloudey a gain then in a Short while blew off a gain and become bright and clear a gain Thermometer at or near 8- oclock registered at 34 Degrees tempature. The wind changed too the South west at or near ten oclock this morning The familey a rose some what late this morning and when prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when all were through and the breakfast table and contents care far William Frownfelter went to School and his Sister mary was Still in bed Sick and Mrs Frownfelter went too the washtub to wash Some garments for the familey whilst my wife were engaged in reading of a news paper that William Frownfelter brought from Joshua this morning and the writer was engaged at recording what was done on the premise this morning now at or near ten oclock A.M. all the clouds blew a way and become a nice bright Sunshine day but quite damp and cool by the by my wife assisted Mrs M V Frownfelter in prepareing the noon meal to day and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then pretaken of our noon meal and when all were through and the table and contents cared far Mrs M V Frownfelter then went too the wash Tubb then finished washing far the familey at or near three oclock this after noon now the day is passed and gone and the evening Shade behind it and has been a beautiful day to behold clear and nice all the day with the exception of a bout one hour today at about ten oclock in the fore noon it become cloudey but Soon passed a way and become bright again and the Sun Sit clear and bright and at or near three oclock P.M. of to day the writer walked up in too Joshua for the mail and after obtaining of it i then prochased Some Sweet Spirits of nitre and Some writing pens then returned home and as i received a news paper from Waco to day i Spent the remainder of the day in reading of the news and at or near Six oclock this after noon we began to do up our evening Schoures whilst Mrs M V Frownfelter prepared our evening meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the Suppertable then eat our last meal for the day and after all were through and the table and contents cared far we then moved in too our bed room for a Short rest and during of the writer finished recording of the labor done on the premises day and finished writing a letter too Ed Costley of Waco and when i were through we then departed to our bed of repose all the fam(iley) hoping to get a quiet nights rest to night is the desire of the familey W.E.Costley at Mr G C and Mrs M V Frownfelter Joshua

Saturday March the 6th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cloudey dark gloomey morning much in appearance of winter wind from the east blowing cold and disagreeable as winter Season would be if it were winter Thermometer at or near 8- oclock this morning registered at 30 Degrees tempature at the freezing point, the familey arose Some what late this morning and when prepared for work Mrs. M.V. Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal as Mary her Daughter was Sick in bed and could not ast (assist) her So She had the work to do all a lone but when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we seated our Self too the table then portaken of our morning meal when through and the table and contents cared far by Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter then the familey went to work at Such work that come first that was neaded done on the premises to day but as it So disagreeable out doors that one could not do but little So all the work was done. to day at G C and Mrs M V Frownfelter premises was done in doors as the wind blew So cool from the North East So the work was contined too the house work and reading and writing and other Kind of work that was neadeding doing on the premises to day Willey Frownfleter made a coupley of trips up into Joshua Texas to attend to Some buisiness for her now as a buisiness day this is not one fit for that purpose there fore we have to make out of it the best that we can as we can do no better. just now we was wanting to go up in too Joahua to day as this is Sales day when the goods is to be Sold cheap but too cool and damp to go out So we will have to remain in doors for the day and be content with our mode and manor of wanting to do any thing untill the weather clears up and when that will be is unknown to the people of to day So let her Slide Galiger. Now after we all eat our noon meal Mrs M.V.Frownfelter made preperation and went to Town to do Some trading and was gone untill late in the evening and when She returned home She then went to work to prepare the evening meal but whilst She was gone i taken a trip a cross the railroad a Short was off to See Mr Seals but he was not at home and after remaining for a while i then returned back home and went to work to help do up the night Schores and about the time we had finished up Mrs M.V.Frownfelter had our evening meal Served then placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal, and after getting through and the table and content cared far we then moved in too our bed room by the fire to take a good warm, and after taken our usual rest we departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey at large WE and Mrs M V Costley at Mr and Mrs G C Frownfelter Joshua Texas The wind change to the not (north) this Evening and very cool? and become cold

Sunday March the 6th AD 1915- Opened up quite a freezing morning as there is plenty of ice this morning and the thermometer down to 30 Degrees tempature with a heavey cold wind from the north blowing but clear and bright. The familey arose some what late this morning and after being prepared for buisiness Mr M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning meal and when served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and the familey was through and the table and contents cared for the rest was taken was to put the bed rooms in good Shape a gain then Willey frownfelter departed too his Sunday School to deposet his lat nicholds (nickels) to those who wait to one Side to take it all in from those who does not have it to Spare now as the cars were coming South from the northern portion of the world they were headed down with ice showing a cold time up north but no snow South of Joshua but plenty North of the place Showing a great difference in each country but as you travall South you come nearer to the Sun and traveling North you are traveling from the Sun So that is what makes the difference in the climates and a great diference it makes, but it is cold enough in Texas to Sleet or if it just rain that is all it takes at this time of doing the work all up just write. at or near one oclock P.M. of to day we eat our noon meal prepared by Mrs M V Frownfelter and when through and the table cared for willey Frownelter went out in the country for one of his friends to come and Stay alnight whilst his Mother Mrs M V Frownfelter walked a Short ways over too her Daughters to See how She was getting and M V Frownfelter taken care of the Dinner table and contents and then for a rest again as it were the Sabbathe day of our lord 1915 and in a Short while Edna Kelley come over to See the familey and to Send a messuage to her Sister Louese Leng on rock creek Some Seven or -8 miles from home and when through she then returned home and the old people and Mary Frownfelter remained at home to keep up every thing Strait and too its place, and at or near five oclock in the after noon the writer walked a cross the street too Mr Kellers to have a chat with him and remained for Some bit then returned back home to See how the folks at home were getting a long after arriving in doors i found my wife was not doing so very well she was suffering from pains in her bowels, and she was given a dose of Paregoric to aveil the misery by Mrs. M.V. Frownfelter daughter of M V.Costley and at or near 5- oclock PM we began to do up our nights work whilst Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter prepared the evening meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Self to the Suppertable then portaken of our evening meal and after getting through and the table and contents cared far we then moved in too our bedroom by the fire to take our usual rest now to being the Seventh day of March AD 1915 the pasenger train from North going South this morning was covered with Snow , and was plenty ice this morning in Joshua Texas and the paper gives an account of the Snow during this Spell of cold weather in Kassas and Mason_? falling too the debth of 12 inches Soled and the ice here in Joshua was a bout near a half inch thick now as the rest Spell is over with we will go to our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey to night WE And Mrs M.V. Monday March the 8th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cold freezing day wind from the north very cloudey and cold Thermometer at or near 8- oclock Registers at 28 Degrees tempature The familey arose quite late this morning and when readey for work Mr M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared the morning whilst Willey Frownfelter was taken care of the Schores of the place and when the morning meal was Served and placed on the breakfast table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when through and the breakfast table cared far then Willey Frownfelter and his young friend went to School Mr Hunson and Mary Frownfelter went to work and put the breakfast table and contents all in good Shape a gain whilst her Mother taken care of the bed room and put evry thing in good Shape a gain and the writer walked up in too Joshua to get my male and purchase a paper of pins and Some flower crackers after getting goods i then returned home So that finished my trip to town i become quite cool on the trip as it were freezing weather and Still continues cold alday long and no Sun Shine to warm up thing as then come and went and at or near 12- oclock noon we eat our noon meal previded by Mrs MV Frownfelter and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selve down too the dinner table then portaken of our noon meal and when all were through and the dinner table cared far by Miss Mary Frownfelter during of the time her mother was making of a garment for Some one of the familey and the wirter was buisey at recording of what was done on the premises to day and my wife was buisey reading of the news, as i obtained a nother paper from Waco this morning the times Herald published on Waco Texas each and evry day in the week days now the day is passing a way fast and has been quite a dark gloomey and Should it begin to wich it resembles very much it would Shurley Sleet for it is too cold to Snow, and has been in that condition alday long and come too a close with the Same results and Shurley will rain Sleet or Snow to night, it does not Seem as though it could miss doing one or the other from the looks of the Elements now as the day has passed away and the evening Shades have appeared and we have done up our nights Schores and have eat three meals vituals and the work all done up in doors we will take our usual rest then depart too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey to night W E and Mrs M V Costley at Mr G C and Mrs M V Frownfelters Joshua Texas

Tuesday March the 9th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cold freezing morning Snowing write a long from the north East at or near 8- oclock this morning the Snow lay thick over the eart(h) as it began to Snow on the last past night from the north and Still Snowing at nine oclock this morning and likely to keep it up for Some bit from the looks of the elements as the Element and the Earth are both white with Snow for the first time in Several past now on April 19 AD 18 and 57 there came a Storm from the west and a distructive storm blew up from west an come a dread ful hail Storm the turned too the west and began to Snow and from Snow it turned into Sleeting and as the timber was all lafed (leafed) out the foliage of the timber caught the ice and the topps of the timber all broken off and left the boddy uncovered Similar too a Stup which was a great destruction too the timber and the acorn crop and all other baring froot trees and evry living green growin grain and vegitables on the lands where it fell which was over the majority of Texas just wiped evry thing out and set evry thing back too the dead of winter a gain and al those that farmed had to comence a new to make something to live on but the writer he did not try it any more for my part i geered up my teem and drove out for Houstin to hall goods the balance of the year and did not make any thing at that as i taken sick down in Houston Prairie i and my Brother in Law E.D. Ellis and was sick the whole year from the trip after recovering from a heavey spell of sickness write Strait a way i taken the evry other day chills for the balance of the year and the last chill i had was a congestive chill and come very near blowing me out it was near winding up of the year 1857 now i will contunue to record too days labors The familey all a rose this morning tolerablely earley and found the Eart(h) covered with Snow making a great change on the Eart(h) therefore Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work prepared the morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves a round a warm Stove to eat our morning meal and when all were through and the vessels cared far that we used in eating of our morning meal then a different work began as Mrs M V Frownfelter went too her needle work a gain and Mary her Daughter to passing her time a way as a invaled as She has been Sick and as too my wife She is reading the history of th life of Eliga the propet and his administration and prowet (prophet?) in his rain on Earth and the writer to recording the works of the familey through out the day and confining my self to reading book and papers of different discription through the day to keep my mind imployed all a long the line of buisiness through the day and to record what happened in 1857 with the weather now at 12- oclock to day the clouds grew a great thiner So the Sun could have Some affect on the eath al though did not Shine out but the majority of the Soon passed a way and Soon out of Sight but Still remained cloudey it was Still Snowing Snowing untill after Eleven oclock to day from which it ceased to fall. but later on it become more denise in a thick foliage of clouds as though it would continue to rain or Snow more before braking off at or near too oclock PM to day Mrs M V Frownfelter prepared our noon meal and when served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves to the table then portaken of our noon mel and when through and the table and contents cared for we then occupied our bed room by a good fire as the weather was unfit for buisiness but Mrs. M.V. Frownfelter, went to work to Sewing on her Sewing machine making garments for her familey and Willey to minding the chickens off of the growning onions in the garden and Sis her daughter to painting fowls the writer to reading and writing and my wife keeping of her bed mostley as she is not feeling very well to day bothered with her stomache again and the passing a way of to day is quite reckless by the by as it is So dark and gloomey and distressing to be hold and the lonsomest weather that any one could be eye witness too now as the day is passed and gone and the darkness of the night has made its appearance and a bitter day it has been all the way through with out any Sunshile to give light So we will take our usual rest then depart too our bed or repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire to night W E and M V Costley his wife and Mr G C and M.V.Frownfelter Joshua Texas

Wednesday March the 10th AD 1915- Opened up quite a cloudey cold morning very cloudey wind from the North thermometer at or near Seven oclock this morning registered at 30 Degress tempature with a good prospect of more falling weather Soon The familey arose Some what late this morning and when prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter went to work and prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our morning meal and when the familey were through and the table cared far by Mary Frownfelter She then prepared her Selfe and walked up too the post office for the mail and to mail a letter to her parents at Brownwood in Brown County Texas and after returning back home She then fix up and went to School for the first time in a week as Willey Frownfelter had alreadey gone to School and there mother went to work and put her bed rooms all in good Shape then too her needle work a gain and Still the dark cloudey dreary weather continues to go on as though nothing had happened it Seems as thoug the Southened climate is going to become Similar too the northern climate become late and cold and bacward Something Similar too the movement in the north late Springs continually now at or near Eleven oclock in the fore noon of too day Mrs M V Frownfelter began too prepare the noon meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the dinner table then portaken of our noon meal and when all were throug and the table and contents cared far the children returned to School and Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter returned too Sewing a gain whilst the writer walked up too the post office to mail a letter to Ida Ada and Dean Costley of waco after mailing of my letter i purchased a box of mentholized Beans ( Davis Mentholated beans ) from the Drugest of Joshua i then walked in too kelley Brother and purchased a pare of Shoes for my self and Some chewing wax for my wife then returned home put my shoes on and the heel strop or price heart the side of my heel i put them on and wore them by that time it was growing late we done up our night Schores whilst Mrs M V Frownfelter prepared our Evening meal when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our evening meal when through and the table cared far we then moved in too our bed room for a Short rest and when throug we departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good rest to night Now Mrs Seal paid the familey a viset to day and there were a baseball game played between the Joshua boys and the Burleson Boys victory was gained by the Burleson Boys.

Thursday March the 11th 1915- Opened quite a gloomey morning very damp and cool and cloudey earley in the morning but at or near nine oclock in the morning the Sun began to come out and Show Signe of the ba

d Spell blowing off. but the Sun Shuts up once and a while wind Earley this morning from the East blowing mildley The familey a rose Some what earley this morning and when prepared for work Mrs M V Frownfelter and her Daughter Mary Frownfelter went to work then prepared our morning meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then eat our morning meal and when through and the table and contents cared far by Mary Frownfelter and when through She then prepared for School and Will and Mary went to School whilst there mother remained at home to attend too the house and have the noon vituals prepared for the familey and Still the dark Spell of weather Sets in occasionley by the Sun Shutting up behind the clouds and then come out, and Show it Self a gain bright and clear So it come and goes and Still the good work goes on all the Same, now at or near ten oclock in the fore noon to day Mrs Seals paid Mrs M V Frownfelter a viset and Spend the day with the familey and when our noon meal was Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our noon meal having Mr and Mrs Will Kelley and Mrs Seals that is Old Grand Mama Seal too dine with the familey to dine with the old people or rather the familey and after all were through and Edney Kelley and old Grand Mom Seals went to work and put the dinner table and contents all in good Shape then the work began as there was washing to be done for the familey and also gardened to Some extent we planted irish potatoes and beets and have planted okry but we did not have any more ground plowed up So we had to leave of gardening for the present as we have no plow animal to plow, and Mrs M V Frownfelter and Mrs Will Kelley done a big evening washing of wearing clothes and when through with the work we done up the nights Schores whilst Mrs. M.V.Frownfelter prepared our evening meal and when Served and placed on the table and announced readey to be eat we Seated our Selves too the table then portaken of our evening meal and when all were through with our evening meal and the evening table and content we then moved in too our bed room for a Short rest Now a bout noon to day it Seem as though it was going to clear up but as the evening passed a way it began to grow darker and Soon Shut the Sun up and went down behind a heavey cloud as though it was going to continue a rough. Spell of weather Still a head as it is misting of rain to nigh and very unfavorable weather for the time present and after taking our usual rest we departed too our bed of repose hoping to get a good nights rest to night is the desire of the familey and writer to night W E and Mrs M V Costley at Mr and Mrs M V Frownfelter at Joshua (Josh-u-way) Texas

DEATH W. E. COSTLEY AT JOSHUA YESTERDAY

W.E. Costley died about half past nine o'clock, Sunday night, March 21, at Joshua , 82 years. The body was prepared for shipping to Crawford where interment will take place tomorrow. Two sons and one daughter survive the deceased. ( actually 3 son’s were still alive.)

His wife Mary died Feb. 11, 1917 and is also buried in Crawford city cemetery, Crawford, McLennan County, Texas .
