The wind this morning is from the South East blowing quite brisk The thermometer at or near nine oclock this morning registered at 62 Degrees tempature the Town of Crawford this morning has a loanly lomsom appearance as but very few of them that live in the town are Stiring a bout water and mud bound and those that live a way from Crawford can not get in to town for high water and mud holes just impassable before this flood came on much less now after a greater amount of water has fallen then ever before this fall and all the old people can do is to remain in doors during the wet Spell and at or near fore oclock the writer walked down to the post office to get my mail and to purchase Some crackers for our noon meal and obtaining of what i went after i then returned home and prepared for our noon meal and about the time we were prepared to eat our noon meal Mr Goy Ellis brought us Some back bones and other fresh hog meat and that in connection with what we had made the old folks a nice noons meal in connection with our fresh made homeney So as the old Saying is we had hog and homiley together with Some cooked oatmeal and other varities of food, and after getting through and the dinner table cared far we then moved in too our bed room to continue our rest as we could do but little of any thing else as it rained all the last past night and alday to day up to five Oclock to day from which it helt up for a bit and at that period i fed my horse and fowls then put Some wood in my galery for night and morning to burn in my fire place in our bedroom then went to work and recorded the above of what has accured to day in the way of raining for it has Shurley has put in good time raining for the last 48 hours and has rained Sturdy 40 hours out of the 48 and the most of the time very hard putting the water carses out of bank and over the valeys flooding evry Streem in my neighborhood and it So all over McLennan and Coryell Counties and i judge it is about the case all over the State and country This has been a day long to be remembered as it has rained the intire day through out and looks in appearance as though it would rain to night as the clouds are heavey and low dessignating rain again all a long the line that it Started from I can hardley remember when we have had So much rain in the fall and winter So far as has fallen this fall and winter it Shurley has been a great while and evry thing growing the Same as it grows in the Spring of the year. and much more flourishing Shugarcane heading out filld on a boom Now as we have Spent the day in resting we will depart too our bed of repose hoping to receive a good nights rest to night is the desire of the old folks at home - W.E.Costley Thursday December the 4th AD 1913 - Opened up a damp wet morning as it rained again Slowly through out the last past night and Still raining up to nine oclock this morning and no likely hood in Sight of clearing up as the clouds hang heavey and low, wind from the dull in movement Thermometer at or near, nine oclock A.
