ADDIE BLANTON SWEATT
Addie Blanton
Sweatt, 91, who worked in Stauss Drug Store for 10 years, died Saturday.
Services were
held Wednesday in Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Rev Ron Rice and Rev
John Brigg officiating.
Burial was in
the Citizens Cemetery At Fort Gibson.
Born Oct. 5,
1886 in Grayson County, Tex., Mrs. Sweatt was a former member of Old Fort
Club in Fort Gibson. She was a member of First Gibson.
She was a member of First
Baptist Church. Her son, Loys, died in 1976.
Survivors include two
daughters, Mrs. Marguarite Stauss of Stahle and Mrs. Lillian Boatright
of Tulsa; a sister, Maggie Badgett of Denison, Texas; eight grandchildren
and 13 great-grandchildren.

Blanton married Noah Columbus Sweatt. She was the daughter of Benjamin
F. Blanton and Julia Ann Blanton. Her maternal grandparents were
Fannin Co., TX pioneers, Stephen Fletcher Blanton, a CSA veteran, and Sarah
McDaniel. Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Edward
Blanton and Mary Feagans of
Rutherford Co., NC.

DEATHS AND FUNERALS
Noah Columbus
Sweatt, 49, died at his home at Fort Gibson yesterday after a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Fort
Gibson Baptist church with Rev. J.M. Wiley officiating. Burial will
be in the Fort Gibson cemetery under the direction of the Guipel Funeral
home. Surviving are his widow; a son, Loys, of the
home; two daughters, Mrs.
Margaret Strauss of Tahlequah and Miss Lillian Sweatt of Fort Gibson; a
brother, John Sweatt of Fort Gibson; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John
Sweatt of Muskogee.

of Benjamin F. Blanton and Julia Ann Blanton.
Mary Addie Blanton maternal
grandparents were Fannin Co., TX pioneers, Stephen Fletcher Blanton, a
CSA veteran, and Sarah McDaniel. Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin
Edward Blanton and Mary Feagans of Rutherford
Co., NC.

Lillian Baines-Boatright,
80, passed away Saturday, June 26th, 1993. She was born July 27, 1912,
at Yale, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Noah Columbus and
Mary Addie Blanton Sweatt. She was reared and educated in Ft.
Gibson, OK. After receiving
her high school diploma, she began her college career Sept. 8, 1930.
She earned her teaching certificate May 28, 1932 and continued to earn
her B.S. degree from NSU in July of 1935. While at NSU, she was a
member of Delta Sigma epsilon Sorority. She began her teaching
career first at Kinta, OK,
and then Tulsa and later at Vinita. She taught for 43 years, 40 of
those were in the Tulsa schools.
She married Thomas
W. Baines in Tahlequah, Dec. 24, 1933. Their first home was in Tahlequah,
then Tulsa. There were two sons born to this union, Jerry and Thomas
Baines.
She married Ray Boatright
in Tulsa, OK on March 6, 1959. They made their home in Vinita.
He died Aug. 25, 1961 and she continued to teach and live in Vinita, for
a time. Then she returned to Tulsa in the early 1960's. She
was a resident of Tulsa until 1992 when she moved to the Baptist Retirement
Center in Owasso, but her
health failed so she moved to Claremore's Wood Manor Nursing Home in August
1992. Services will be in Fitzgerald Funeral
Service Chapel, 14th & Boulder, Tulsa, on Tuesday June 29, 1993, at
10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at
Ft. Gibson Citizen
Cemetery also called "Cherokee
National Cemetery".
Survivors include
two sons and daughters in law, Jerry and Gwen Baines, Claremore; Thomas
and Elaine Baines, Naperville, IL; a sister, Marguerite Stauss-George,
Coweta; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother,
Loys Sweatt.
Services are under
direction of Rice Funeral Services, Claremore 341-0376.

Jeannie Cooper and of Benjamin Franklin Frank". Blanton and Julia Ann Blanton.

Blanton, a CSA veteran, and Sarah McDaniel. Her paternal great-grandparents
were Benjamin Edward Blanton and Mary Feagans of Rutherford Co., NC.
