Overton ~ Pinchum
School
History of the school below photographs
about 1920
Here is the Overton / Pinchum school picture.
My father's father was a trustee of this school - Henry E. (Dump) Clountz.
The older lady in the middle (third) row - the second
adult from the left - is my father's grandmother - my father was Henry
Sherman Clountz (son of Henry E. Dump Clountz) who married Minnie Myers
(who taught school at Overton) and she was the daughter of the lady in
the picture - Sarah Jane (Hash) Myers - who lived on Hash Hill with
her brother Uncle Tom Hash after her husband died. She was a character
and loved all the young people and they loved her.
Standing next to her with the white dress is my aunt
Lottie (Charlotte Frances) Cook (Mosier), skip one girl and then the next
one in a light dress is my Mom Florence Lucille Cook Clountz, skip two
girls and there is their sister Ruth Cook (Elmore).
The younger girls on the next row down, fourth from
the left is another of their sisters, Fannie Mae Cook (Perdue).
Seated on the front row, third from the left, is Ralph
Elmore.
Momma was born in April 1904, so that will help you
date this, she looks to be an older teenager here.
I'm not sure, but most of the boys in the back look
like brothers, and they look like the present day Clements - Curtis Clement
- They are either Clement boys or Prators, not sure.
