OLA ALEXANDER - Services for
Ola L. Alexander, 96-year-old Sherman resident and homemaker, will be held
at 10 a.m. Saturday in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. She died January
11, 1996, at the Chapel of Care Nursing Home. The Rev. Tim Clayton,
pastor of East Sherman Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will
be in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Alexander was born on November
29, 1899, in Sherman, the daughter of Robert and Mammie Kellough Hancock
and attended Sherman public schools. On August 21, 1920, she married
Frank F. Alexander in Grayson County. She lived in Sherman all of
her life and joined East Sherman Baptist Church around 1935. During
her lifetime, she was very active in all church activities and was a member
of the Mary Martha Sunday School Class. She was a life member of
the PTA, and held many offices in the school and city organizations.
She was a member of the Sherman Rebekah Lodge No. 297, (International Order
of Odd Fellows) and throughout the years, had held all the offices in the
Lodge. She was also a member of the World War I Ladies Auxiliary
and the American Legion Auxiliary. In her later years, she was a
volunteer at the Sherman Senior Citizens Center, which she enjoyed for
about 15 years. Her last three years, she made her home in the Chapel
of Care Nursing Home being cared for by her family and a loving staff at
the home. Mrs. Alexander is survived by her son, Bob Alexander and
his wife Earline of Sherman; grandchildren, Barbara Clayton and her husband
Lee of Denison, Rick Alexander and his wife Gail of Sherman, and Jerri
Sue Boles and her husband, Bobby of Cd. Constitucion, Mexico; and great-grandchildren,
Trevor and Tracey Clayton of Denison, Nicole, Casey, Philip and Lola Alexander,
all of Sherman, and Susan, Alex and Kelli Boles, all of Mexico. She
was preceded in death by her husband, who died on December 9, 1979, and
a son, Jerry Alexander, who died on February 14, 1953 while serving in
the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Pallbearers will be grandsons
and great-grandsons: Rick Alexander, Casey Alexander, Philip Alexander,
Lee Clayton, Trevor Clayton and Tracey Clayton. The family we be
at Waldo Funeral Home for a family visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday,
and other times, at the Bob and Earline Alexander residence in Sherman.
Memorials may be made to the East Sherman Baptist Church Building Fund,
in care of East Sherman Baptist Church, 901 East King Street, Sherman,

MRS. L.A. FUTCH DIES AFTER 3-YEAR ILLNESS
- Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Barrett Funeral
Chapel for Mrs. L.A. Futch, 46, who died at a Sherman hospital, Wednesday
at 9:15 p.m. She had been in ill health three years. Her home was
at 105 N. Andrews Street. Rev. A.H. Horne, minister of the Pentecostal
Church of God, will conduct the service. Assisting will be Rev. Claud
Johnston, pastor of the North Park Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be
Leo Ivy, Ray Rolen, Otis Leverette, Andrew Sims, Roy Duke and Woodrow Horne.
Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Futch was born in Sherman.
She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Hancock (Robert A. and Mamie Killough
Hancock). She was a member of the Pentacostal Church. Survivors
include her husband, L.A. Futch (Leonard Alvin); four sons, Carl Eugene
Futch, Leonard Alvin Futch, Jr., Franklin D. (Dean) Futch and Lewis Ray
Futch; five daughters, Miss Margaret Louise Futch, Mrs. M.W. (Margaret
Louise) Evans, Miss Frances Gene Futch, Miss Theresa Futch and Miss Patricia
Futch; a sister, Mrs. Frank (Ola Lincoln) Alexander of Sherman; a half-brother,
A.H. (Albert Houston) Rolen of Sherman and her father, R.A. Hancock of

LEONARD
FUTCH - Denison - Services for Leonard A. Futch, 71, retired Katy Railroad
engineer of Denison who died Saturday (June 12, 1976) at a hospital here,
will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bratcher Chapel, conducted by the Rev.
R.E. Williams, of Belmont Baptist Church in Sherman. Burial will
be at Bethany Cemetery. Born in Lindsey, Oklahoma, he was a son of
Mr. and Mrs. Samps (Sampson Frances and Mary Frances Springfield) Futch
and married Mrs. Emogene McCloud, July 3, 1962, in Waco. He was a
Baptist. Surviving are wife; sons, Carl Eugene Futch of Saudi, Arabia,
Leonard Alvin Futch of Copperas Cove, Franklin D. Futch of Fort Hood and
Lewis Ray Futch of Gastonia, N.C.; daughters, Mrs. Margaret Evans of Sherman,
Mrs. Frances Howell of Denton, Mrs. Theresa Schneider of Howe, Mrs. Patricia
Whitaker of Denton; stepdaughters, Mrs. Larry Hanky of Irving and Mrs.
Shirley Burke of Waco; 27 grandchildren and six step-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Phillip Schneider, Ricky Brinlee, Weldon Evans, Joe Evans,
Clifford Evans and Tommy Hutson. The family will be at 1009 S. Rusk.

MRS. HARRISON SMITH DIES; SERVICES
SET - Bells - Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the
First Baptist Church here for Mrs. Harrison (Jose) Smith, 58, who died
at 9:30 p.m. Friday at her home. Rev. Dale Moon, the pastor and Rev.
Frank Rowe, Baptist minister of Sherman, will conduct services. Burial
will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of Earnheart Funeral Home
of Whitewright. Mrs. Smith was born January 25, 1905 in Sherman,
a daughter of W.P. (William Pinkman) and Mary (Isom) Rolen. She married
Mr. Smith October 18, 1927 in Sherman. She was a member of the First
Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband; four sons, Carl,
J.M.(James Marvin), H.D.(Harold Dean) and Bobby Earl Smith of Bells; one
daughter, Mrs. Walter (Ruby) Duncan of Bells; one brother, F.M. (Floyd
Marvin) Rolen of Bells; four sisters, Mrs. J.E. (Willie) McHone and Mrs.
Maudie Baze of Sherman and Mrs. J.H. (Ola) Francis and Miss Pearl Rolen
of Bells; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. (Published

HARRISON SMITH, 73 DIES; RITES SUNDAY
- Bells - Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the First
Baptist Church for Harrison Smith, 73, retired Bells farmer, who died at
2:15 p.m. Friday in his home here. Rev. Dale Moon, pastor of the
Church (First Baptist) and Rev. Frank Rowe of Sherman, Baptist minister,
will conduct the services. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery,
directed by Earnheart Funeral Home of Whitewright. Mr. Smith was
born October 13, 1890 in the Pike Community near Blue Ridge. He was
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith. On October 18, 1922, he married
Jose Fay Rolen in Sherman. She died in 1963. He was a veteran
of World War I and a member of the Baptist Church. Survivors are
four sons, Carl, J.M. (James Marvin), and Bobby Earl all of Bells and Harold
Dean Smith of Lubbock; a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Ruby) Duncan of Bells;
two sisters, Mrs. Kate Yeary of Bells and Mrs. Ment? Nations of Tampa,
Florida; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. (Published

MAUDIE THOMPSON - Sherman - Graveside
services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in West Hill Cemetery in Sherman
for Maudie Faye Thompson, 85, of Savoy. She died Sunday, September
29, 1996, at Mullican Nursing Home in Savoy. Officiating will be
the Rev. James Crawford and the Rev. George Clinton. Waldo Funeral
Home has charge of arrangements. Surviving are her sisters, Willie
McComb of Sherman and Ola Francis of Bells. (Published in the Herald
