Marion C. Cowan, born at Broken Arrow in St. Clair County, Alabama.
He was the son of Apoline Ginn and Samuel Cowan, and was a "double"
cousin of my GGF Ed Cowan of Basin Springs and Sadler.
Marion Cowan is said to have been named for General Francis Marion,
his grandfather Jesse Ginn's officer in the Revolutionary War. .
Marion enlisted in the Confederate Army 16 April 1862.
