 Emanuel Rudasill
Company M, 16th North Carolina Regiment CSA
"Photograph  taken by Caradine Studio in Sherman, Texas"
Emanuel is buried in West Hill in Sherman  1845-1945
This photograph was taken just after the war to capture his uniform and the flag he carried.

I received this extra info: from Ralph Langston
"Emanuel Rudasill is my GGuncle.  His Brother,  Wiley Marcus Rudasill was my GGgrandfather on my mother's side.  They were both in the Civil War together serving in the 16th Infantry Regiment, Company M.  Grandpa Marcus was wounded at Gettysburg but returned to duty after a period of convalescences.  During the Battle of the Wilderness,  Uncle Emanuel, after two other flag bearers were killed, picked up that flag and carried it on throughout the battle.  After that he was promoted to Color Sergeant and carried that flag throughout the remainder of the war.
Both he and grandpa Wiley were with Lee at Appomattox when the surrender took place.... I know he and two brothers, Levi and Jimmy migrated to Texas after the war and Grandpa Wiley moved to Fulton County Arkansas.  I know Levi never married and that Jimmy lived in Bee County Texas but not much more than that on the Texas side of the Rudasill family. This Monument still stands today though some joker added a WWI bayonet to it many many years ago with some bailing wire, citizens decided to leave him with the better equipment!
