Whitewright, Texas
The Original African-American Area of Oak Hill Cemetery

BACK TO OAK HILL CEMETERY
Map
All of the names in this list are located in an old Section of Oak Hill that was seperate. It is located across the creek east of the old side of OakHill. In old records it is either "Negro OakHill"   or Whitewright Negro Cemetery or just Whitewright"  This part of the cemetery was in terrible shape and hard to reach when I went across the creek the first time. I do not recommend that !
Some houses are now in the land between the cemetery and the road (hwy898)and a gate is available for accessing the cemetery now.
This is a list of the Tombstones and known burials located there. I add this list just for genelogical purposes, I was told that Dana Brisco was the first black person buried in the other sections of OakHill Cemetery, if so that was in 1978, so using that info I add the other African-American unmarked burials I find information on that are known to be buried in "OakHill" before that time to this list.
Their stone info and dates are in the main alphabetical cemetery listings
