 HAROLD DOSS - Whitewright - Services were held Monday in Earnheart Chapel for
Harold Doss, 72, retired Whitewright city secretary who died Sunday in a Sherman
hospital.  Rev. William Rogan officiated and burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery. // Mr.
Doss was born Nov. 27, 1899 in Blue Ridge, the son of Mr. and Mrs. E.T. Doss.  He
married Mrs. Kugga (nee Blanton) Hansard Oct. 9, 1954 in Whitewright.  He was a
member of the Presbyterian Church.  He was city secretary here for 25 years.  // Survivors
include his wife of Whitewright; three stepsons, Jack Hansard of Sherman and Ray and
Granvolee Hansard, both of Irving; four sisters, Mrs. Mabelle Owens of Sabinal, Mrs.
Elbert Thompson of Pilot Point,  Mrs. Joe Clark and Mrs. Gene McIvers, both of
Bonham; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  // Pallbearers will be Russell
Summers, D.B. Brooks, Charles Skaggs, Newell Skaggs, J.T. Holloway and Floyd
Bassett.  (Research note:  Kugga Blanton was daughter of Claude M. Blanton and Fannie
Ann Hunter.  She was the granddaughter of William Howell Blanton and Alive V.
Nicholson.)

FLORA MAY LAY - Greenville, Texas.  Graveside services for Flora May Blanton Lay,
99, of Sherman, who died Sunday, May 4, 1997, at Post Oak Rehabilitation Center, will be
held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, May 8, 1997, at West Hill Cemetery.  The Reverend Tom Price of Bonham will officiate.  // Arrangements are under the direction of Dannel funeral
Home.  // Mrs. Lay was born January 16, 1989, in Fannin County, the daughter of W.F.
Blanton and Jennie Wrenn Blanton.  She attended schools in Oklahoma and Texas and
graduated from Wesley College in Greenville.   She earned her Bachelor of Arts at
Southern Methodist University.  // She was a teacher and housewife and resided in
Sherman for over 50 years.  // She married Wilford W. Lay on June 17, 1930 in Sherman.
He preceded her in death in 1952.  // Mrs. Lay was a member of the First United
Methodist Church in Sherman and was the church librarian for many years.  She was a
member of the United Daughters of  Confederacy.  // Surviving is her sister, Nadine
Blanton of Sherman.  // The family will be at Mrs. Blanton's residence at 310 W. Middleton

J. P. BLANTON - Sherman - J.P. BLANTON, 81, of Denton and formerly of Sherman
died Monday, Sept. 29, 1997, at Columbia Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth. // Services
will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mulkey-Mason Jack Schmitz and Son Chapel with the
Rev. Bobby Bryan and the Rev. Bob Joyce officiating.  Burial will be in Burns Cemetery
in Trenton. // Surviving are his wife, Ethyl Lee (Morris) Blanton of Denton; sons, Jack
Blanton of Denton and Randy Blanton of Norman, Okla.; sisters, Christine Walker of
Ventura, Calif. and Kugga Doss of Whitewright; and four grandchildren.  // Memorials
may be made to Cooper Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, Route 5, Box 175A, Denton,

Home resident, died November 17, 1998 at Wilson N. Jones  Regional Health System. //
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 12998, in the Earnheart
Funeral Home Chapel in Whitewright.  The Reverend Michael L. Rutledge, Presbyterian
minister, will officiate.  Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery.  // Mrs. Doss was born March
15, 1901, in Whitewright to Claude and Fannie Blanton.  She married Earl Hansard on
September 18, 1918, in Bells, Texas.  He preceded her in death August 29, 1945.  She
married Harold Doss, October 9, 1954, in Whitewright.  He preceded her in death
November 9, 1972.  // She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Granvolee and
Osalee Hansard of Tom Bean, Jack and Frances Hansard of Sherman and Ray and
Mary Hansard of Irving; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and a half sister,
Christine Walker of Ventura, California.  // The family received friends at the Earnheart
Funeral Home in Whitewright from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, November 18, 1998.   (Kugga

 CHARLES BLANTON - Whitewright - Charles Earl Blanton, 87, of Whitewright, died
Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, at Whitewright Nursing Home. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m.
Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999 at Earnheart Chapel in Whitewright, with Rev. Van Lazaroff and
Rev. Neale Oliverofficiating.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright with
Earnheart Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  // Survivors are his wife,
Al Eva Blanton, and one daughter, Becky Blanton young, both of Whitewright.  Family
visitation will be Monday, Nov. 1, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Earnheart Funeral Home.
(Charles Earl Blanton was son of Charles Samuel Blanton and Priscilla Cowen.  He was the grandson of Benjamin  F. “Frank”” Blanton and Julia Ann Blanton.)

CHARLES EARL BLANTON - Services for Charles Earl Blanton, 87, of Whitewright
who died October 30, 1999, at Whitewright Nursing Home  were held Tuesday, November
2, at 2 p.m. in Earnheart Chapel in Whitewright with Rev. Van Lazaroff and Rev. Neale
Oliver officiating.  Internment followed at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright.  Earnheart
Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.  // Mr. Blanton was born May 30, 1912 in
Whitewright, Texas, the son of Charles and Priscilla Blanton.  He graduated from
Whitewright High School and attended Texas Tech University and the University of Texas
before serving his country during World War II in a tank division.  // In 1941 he married Al
Eva McMillan in Greenville, Texas.  // After the war Mr. Blanton returned to Whitewright
where he opened and operated Blanton Home and Auto  Store for a number of years.  He
later sold this business and became an agent for Southland Life Insurance Co. until the
time he retired.  Mr.  Blanton was a member of the first Baptist Church and a past
president of the Whitewright rotary Club.  // He was a strong supporter of the
Whitewright Tigers.  He and the late Martha Nossaman organized the first Whitewright
Pigskin Club, and for a number of years he was the announcer for the Whitewright Tiger
football games.  // After their retirement Earl and his wife did extensive traveling in both
the United States and abroad.  // Survivors are his wife of 58 years, Al Eva Blanton and
one daughter Becky Blanton Young, both of Whitewright.  // Family visitation was Monday
evening, Nov. 1, at Earnheart Funeral Home.  // Pallbearers were Patrick McLocklin, Dr.
Robert Cox, David Johnson, Will Cox, Dr. Steve Sullivan and Murry Bryant.  Honorary
Pallbearers were Tom Sears, Cliff Emerson and Bob Cox.

 BILLY LOUISE "DINK" Blanton - De - Graveside services will be held August 11 at 10
a.m. at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  Rev. Joe D. Ray will conduct the ceremony.  // The
funeral will be under the direction of Johnson-Moore Funeral Home.  / Louise better
known to family and close friends as "Dink" was 81 and passed away Monday, August 7
at Texoma Medical Center where she had been a patient for two weeks.  She had  been in
declining health for several years. // "Dink " was born near Whitewright, Texas on Nov.
28, 1918 to Benjamin Franklin Blanton and Francis Hodges Blanton.  She was preceded in
death by both her parents, a sister, Dorothy Blanton Wells, and a brother George W.
"Woody"  Blanton.  // She is survived by one brother, Ben F. Blanton and wife, Jean of
Denison, a niece, Carolyn Wells Dickson, a great-niece Laurie Dickson Dyer and husband
Sean all of Elk in N.C., a great nephew David Carter Dickson III and his wife Cindy of
Mount Airy, NC; two great-great nieces, "Dink's" namesake, Bevin Louise Dyer and
Darcle Ellen Ever, and two great-great nephews, David Carter Dickson IV and Jack Wells
Dickson.  (Researcher’s note:  Dink was the granddaughter of Thomas J. Blanton and
Eliza Jane Smith.)

NADINE BLANTON - Sherman - Graveside services for Nadine Blanton, retired
Sherman educator, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept.  11, 2002 at West Hill
Cemetery.  The Rev. Tom Price, Methodist minister, will officiate.  // Arrangements are
under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.  // Nadine Blanton died Friday, Sept. 6, 2002,
in Sherman, Texas.  She was born in Savoy, Texas on Nov. 4, 1909, the daughter of
William Foster and Jennie Wrenn Blanton.  // In 1918 the family moved to Sherman where
she received her early education, graduating from Sherman High School.  She attended
Kidd Key College and received her B.A. Degree from Austin College.  As a career
woman, she worked as a secretary in the U.S. Probation Office in both Sherman and Tyler.
She taught in several small schools in the area and retired as a history teacher  at Piner
Middle School in 1975.  // Nadine began her pursuit of genealogy when she was very Young.  It was an interest she carried throughout her entire life.  She collected information
on the Wrenn and Blanton families and soon was helping other family members in their
research.  She was a life-long member of the first United Methodist Church.  She was also
a member of the United Daughters of Confederacy, and the Magna  Carter Dames.  //
Surviving is a niece, Mrs. Charles Crabtree of Granbury and an nephew, Bob Blanton of
Houston; seven great-nieces and nephews and four great-great-nieces and nephews.  //
Miss Blanton will lie in state at Dannel Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 10 from 10
a.m. until 8 p.m.  (Researcher's note:  Nadine was the granddaughter of Thomas J.
Blanton and Elizabeth Jane Locke.)

ETHYL LEE BLANTON - Denton - Ethyl Lee Blanton, 84, of Denton, died Tuesday, July
9, 2002, at Denton Community Hospital.  She was born Oct. 25, 1917, in Whitewright,
Texas to Issac Sanders and Nora Elizabeth (Miller) Morris.  She attended public schools,
and was a member of the West Sherman Baptist Church in Sherman, Texas.  She married
J.P. Blanton on August 18, 1935 in Whitewright, Texas.  He died September 19,1997.  //
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002, at the Burns
Cemetery in Trenton, Texas with the Reverend Bob Joyce officiating.  Interment will follow in the Burns Cemetery.  // Mrs. Blanton is survived by two sons, Jack Blanton of
Denton, Texas  and Randy Blanton of Norman, Oklahoma; two sisters, Virgie Samborn of
Arizona and Bertha Anderson of Sherman, Texas; four grandchildren and one Great-
grandchild.  // Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz & Son Funeral Home is in charge of
