  Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Jack Blanton of 3537 Willing will be at 2 p.m.
Thursday at the Lake Worth Assembly of God with burial in  Bluebonnet Hills.  // The
Blantons, both deaf, were injured fatally shortly after 1 p.m. Monday when their car was in
collision with the Texas Chief at Ryan Avenue and Biddison.

Stephen Blanton and Nannie Rebecca Jones.  He was the grandson of Benjamin F.
"Frank" Blanton and Julia Ann Blanton.  His paternal grandparents were Benjamin
Edward Blanton and Mary Feagans of Rutherford Co., NC.  His maternal grandparents
were Stephen Fletcher Blanton and Sarah McDaniel.)

  MRS. TOM BLANTON - Graveside services were held Monday at Cedarlawn
Memorial Park for Mrs. Tom Blanton, 59, of 2302 Rex Cruse Drive.  She died Christmas
Day apparently of a heart attack.  // Services were conducted by Dr. Tom Brandon of the
First Baptist Church, with burial under direction of the Waldo Funeral Home.  Mrs.
Blanton was born in Grayson County, daughter of the late Tandy C. Morris and the
present Iva Grigg Morris.  She was Gwendolyn Morris before her marriage on Dec. 23,
1937, in Sherman.  She attended Sherman Public Schools  and was a member of the First
Baptist Church.  // Survivors are her husband and mother, both of Sherman; son Bob
Blanton of Houston, brother, A.C. Morris of Fort Worth, and three grandchildren.
(Researcher's note:  On December 23, 1934, in Grayson County, Texas, Gwendolyn
Jacque married Tom R. Blanton, son of William Foster Blanton and Rebecca Virginia
Wrenn.)

ELIZABETH STEELE BLANTON - In her 83rd year.  Proceeded in death by her husband
Oscar L. Blanton.  Member University Christian Church.  Survivors:  Daughter, Betty
Blanton Crabtree, Granbury; sister, Margaret Lowe, Fort worth; four grandchildren; two
 great-grandchildren.  Graveside services 11 a.m. Friday Mount Olivet Cemetery.  Dr.
Charles H. Sanders officiating.  Expressions of sympathy may be directed to the Granville
Walker Scholarship Fund at University Christian Church.  Arrangements Shannon's
South.  (Susan Elizabeth Steele married Oscar L. Blanton, son of William Foster Blanton
and Rebecca Virginia Wrenn, on November 6, 1921.)


Sherman Democrat, April 13, 1989, p. 14  ROY GLENN BLANTON - Whitewright -
Funeral for Roy Glenn Blanton, 89, of Whitewright, who died Tuesday in a Denison
hospital, will be at  2 p.m. Friday in Earnheart Chapel, with the Rev. Rodney Stanford
officiating.  Burial will be in Oakhill Cemetery. // Blanton was born July 14, 1899, in Indian
Territory, Ardmore, Okla, son of Charles Samuel Blanton and Priscilla Virginia Cowan.
He married Gladine Gates June 26, 1932 in  Kingston, Okla.  Blanton, a World War I
veteran, was a retired rural mail carrier and a First National Bank of Whitewright
employee.  He attended Whitewright schools and Austin College.  // Surviving are his wife;
son, James Barrie Blanton of Whitewright, two daughters, Shirley Glyn Mitroff of
Tarentum, Pa, Priscilla Ann Williams of Lewisville; brother, Earl of Whitewright; 12
grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  // The family will be at the funeral home from
7 to 8 tonight.  (Researcher’s note:  Roy was the grandson of Benjamin F. “Frank”
Blanton and  Julia Ann Blanton.)

   TOM R. BLANTON - Graveside services for Tom Robert Blanton, 76-year-old retired
postal employee of Sherman will be held at 2 p.m.  Wednesday in Cedarlawn Memorial
Park. He died Sunday at Wilson N. Jones Hospital. // The Rev. Tom Price of the First
United Methodist Church will officiate.  // Waldo funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.  // Mr. Blanton was born in Savoy, a son of William Foster Blanton  and
Rebecca Virginia Wren Blanton.  He graduated from Sherman High School and attended
Austin College.  He married Gwyn Morris.  After  her death, he married Julia Morris.  //
He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service from 1941-to 1972 and retired after 31 years
of service.  Two  years of this time, from 1943 to 1946, he was in the U.S. Navy, serving in
the Pacific with Admiral Halsey's 7th fleet. //  He also taught a piano   tuning course at
Grayson County College.  He was a member of the Plano Technicians of America, Texoma
Bass Club, Veterans of Foreign   Wars, American Legion and First Baptist Church.  He
organized the Bob Blanton Dance Orchestra, which performed in the Sherman area for 
several years.  // Surviving are his son, Robert "Bob" Blanton of Fort Worth; sisters,
Nadene Blanton an Flora Lay, both of Sherman; three  grandchildren and one great-
grandson.  // Pallbearers will be Olan Atherton, Harold Schuster, Jackie Stowe, Golden
Gentry, Carl Adams, and Rex E. Shelton.   // The family will be at the funeral home from 7
to 8 p.m. today and other times at the family residence, 2310 W. Middleton St.  //
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Foundation, 70 East Lake Street, Suite 600,
Chicago, Ill., 60601.  (Tom was the grandson of Thomas J. Blanton and Elizabeth Jane
Locke and the great grandson of Josiah Blanton and Lucy Westbrook.)
