'Denison Hospital'
The baby mentioned above: Natalie Denise Wester Clountz Bauman
This article was in the Denison Herald in 1960. It
is about me, before I was adopted by other blood relatives of mine.
I was only 4 pounds when I was born and was in an incubator for a month.
I was born at the old Denison Hospital which was in the the building where
the St. Luke's Episcopal school is. Doctor Steven Kubala, a well
known ostopathic doctor in Denison at the time, built a new hospital on
Morton street in Denison - the building where the homeless shelter is now.
I was the first patient in that hospital and had to be moved by ambulance,
and it was in the paper because my incubator was tall and wouldn't fit
in the low-slung ambulances of the day, so they had to press a nearby Bratcher
Funeral Home flower truck into service to take me to the hospital to be
the first pa tient of the new osteopathic hospital.
