One of the original Peters Colonists who came from Madison Co., TN with his wife Nancy J. (Sturdivant?) and several children to a  613 ac site just east of Sherman in 1839.  He bought and sold several parcels of land in the area in the next few years, and in 1853 purchased a couple of adjacent parcels in the Joseph Strickland Survey further west.
This is what is considered the old Brogdon homeplace, and is the site of the Brogdon Cemetery.

John T. was the second of the children born after the family came to Texas.  He married Minnie Rice Burgess on 27 Aug 1885 in Grayson Co.   Three children of this marriage:  Mary "Nannie", Dennie A., and Emmett Cleon.  John died in about 1890 of undulant fever.  Minnie remarried to John's brother, Henry L. in about 1896.

Sarah "Sallie" Rice Burgess (nee: Conner) b. 15 Nov 1836 MO
d. 24 Jan 1918, Pottsboro, Grayson Co., TX buried:  Georgetown Cemetery
Sallie was the wife of John Burgess and daughter of Lavendar W. and Zibba (Rice) Conner.
  They were parents of Conner, Zibba, Minnie (m. John Brogdon), rachel, Althea and Mary Burgess.
She died during the 1918 flu epidemic.
