GEORGE ULLMANNWeimar Mercury Flatonia, Jan. 13. — George Ullmann, a farmer living three miles southwest of this place, committed suicide this morning by taking strychnine. FRIEDA OTTO ULRICHLa Grange Journal Death Relives An Aged Mother After Months of IllnessSunday morning Mrs. Frieda Ulrich, aged 80 years, 4 months, and 18 days, died at the home of her son-in-law, John G. Riehs, in this city. She had been in failing health for the past two months, suffering from an infection of the foot, which was very painful. Monday afternoon services were held at the Reihs home by Rev. Heise, and the body was taken to Cedar Cemetery and placed at the side of her husband who died January 3, 1908. Mrs. Ulrich, whose maiden name was Miss Frieda Otto, a daughter of Carl Otto and sister to the late Max Otto, was born at Bluff, on a farm, and at the age of 27 years was united in marriage with Carl Ulrich; the then young couple made their home on a farm in the Bluff section, and to them was born five children; Adolph died at the age of 18 months, Mrs. Dora Schlottman, a daughter, died one year ago. The living children are: Chas. Ulrich of near La Grange, Mrs. John (Jane) Riehs of La Grange, Mrs. Louis (Helen) Reihs, also of near La Grange. For the past two years Mrs. Ulrich had made her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John G. Riehs. To the relatives surviving, sincere sympathy is offered. |
GUSTAV H. UNGERFayette County Record Gustav H. Unger Rites At WinchesterGustav H. Unger, 87, a retired farmer of the Winchester community where he had spent most of his life, passed away at the Weishuhn hospital in Smithville Monday. Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon at the Winchester Lutheran church with Rev. Rud Freling officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Born in Germany on April 2, 1877, he came to this country at the age of six years with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Unger who settled in Lee county. On Jan. 15, 1902 he was married at Serbin to Amelia Beisert. Survivors are his wife: five daughters, Mrs. Alwina Wilkinson and Mrs. W. L. Lentz of Dallas, Mrs. Edgar Wagner of Pt. Arthur, Mrs. C. L. Sheffy and Mrs. J. D. Coker of San Antonio; two sons, Edwin H. and Martin Unger of Smithville, Rt. 2; one half-sister, Mrs. Mary Kappler of Giddings; one half-brother, Clemens Unger of Giddings; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. REINHOLD H. URBANLa Grange Journal Reinhold H. Urban Dies Sunday, Aged 57Reinhold H. Urban, farmer, living in the Trinity Hill section west from La Grange, died Sunday, aged 57 years, 7 months and 14 days. Illness due to a ruptured appendix caused his death at the La Grange Hospital. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A. E. Moebus, Monday afgternoon, and interment was had in the Trinity Hill cemetery. Deceased was born at Bluff creek, in Lee County, September 15, 1878 ; he is survived by his wife, and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Reinhold Albrecht, Mrs. Hermann Noack of Lee County, Mrs. Martha Niemeyer, La Grange; Otto Urban, Tena Bluff, California, Gus.
